I've been away for quite a while, as some of you may know, but I'm back now and I'd totally forgotten all about this type of crap.
At the moment I'm living in Cowden temporarily, which is a bit of a hotbed for this sort of thing.
I was at work the other night and heard one of my colleagues (a grown adult man, and a pretty nice guy for the most part) walking around with his earphones in and singing "Derry's Walls" under his breath, possibly without realising it. So, not only was he singing it, but it's presumably on his Spotify playlist as well, along with who knows what other jolly ditties.
I wouldn't say I was completely shocked, but it was a bit of an unpleasant surprise, having managed to avoid it for a very long time.
What it proved to me is that generation after generation are being poisoned with this nonsense (this guy is half my age) and I wouldn't be surprised if his kids know all the words too.
I don't know what the solution is, if there is one, and far better minds than mine have tried and failed over the years to stamp it out.
As for the muppet in the video, I think Dave's words posted above pretty much sum it up.
In the words of CSN, "Teach your children well"
What else can you do on a personal level?
Utterly boak inducing.
