Supporters Meeting

Recommended Posts

The situation with the substantial losses over two seasons is disappointing. But there's nothing us supporters can really do about it, that's the boards situation to manage. They're adamant it's under control so let them crack on.

There are 2 things for me: 1. hopefully a growth in revenue from commercial ventures and initiatives brings in substantial amounts to counter our spends, and 2. We see McPake getting full backing from the Board regarding signings and backing his aspirations.

Two points at home to QP and Inverness is poor. The performances have been a hard watch.

As I've said numerous times after the reamings off Morton and QP in February I couldn't see us bettering 9th. So if we finish 5th/6th I'd say thats not a poor end.

I'd agree performances haven't been great but staying up is about as good an outcome as I could've hoped for 2 months ago.

I'll do my best to take notes Ross

Cheers Grant!  Should be an interesting one to hear about the plans for this summer, and the reflections of the CEO and manager on the season as a whole.

We're 5 wins, 5 draws and 3 defeats since the two hammerings at EEP in February.

I'd also have snapped your hand off for that run after the Queens Park match.

Overall, it's really difficult to judge. We've been crippled by injury and did well to fight our way out of it.

On the other hand, we got ourselves in a position to challenge for 4th with the majority of the squad back available and then didn't turn up against Airdrie or QP.

McPake should clearly get another shot at it next year but it's got to be better when we can put something resembling the first XI on the park.

I hope McPake can recognise that KRH shouldn't be playing RWB ever again. That Matty Todd has looked lost for weeks and pretty much all our attacking threats look isolated and easy to defend against. Josh Edwards getting down the left from a wing back role seems to be our only chance of getting behind defences. Kane is isolated ( he does well at ruffing centre backs, but imagine how ineffective Wighton will be at that when he's back to being our main striker), McCann ineffective coming off the left. The plan of attack was pretty poor even in league 1 and it's just highlighted more in the championship.

There has to be a lot of thought over the summer as to how we are going to attack teams more effectively and what kind of player we can bring in to help that improvement, but right now we a very boring team to watch.

Hopefully he also realises that he also looks lost in the middle of the park. If we are going to persist with the shape he seems to want to play then we really need to recruit for this shape rather than bring in players like O'Halloran who have no place in the system.

I agree with that, I dont think we look that comfortable when he is playing a more of a full back roll. I believe we should use a players strengths and defending is not what KRH can do best.

150%

He was the most exciting player last year, he made things happen regularly when he was given an run in the team, but he needs to be on the wing, with a fullback behind him. It seems so obvious, but it doesn't happen

Think we’re still chasing that form in a league below which he did from wingback, ignoring that the quality of opposition has gone up, he’s having to do too much backwards and as a result isn’t getting on the ball high enough up the pitch too cause damage.

I don’t actually have a problem with him defensively at wingback, he does a reasonable job at that, but our big issue is creativity and releasing him from those defensive duties should hopefully improve that significantly

Go back four and give the attacking duties to wide attacking players rather than full backs. Even more so that Edwards is probably leaving in the summer.

McPake loves his security blanket of having three centre backs that can pass the ball between each other and slow the game down though.

4-2-3-1 is a good system for the players we have. Hamilton and Otoo as the two pivots, would give us six defensive types and shield the centre-backs, allowing four players to get forward and support the likes of a Chris Kane

Right now, we would have:-

Hosler, Todd, Jakubiak

Kane

as our attacking 4

Ideally we should look for a natural attacking "leftie"

PS - I would take Mochrie back and a fit and healthy Summers. Maybe they could fill the void on the left?
