Superally
There is no Championship League fixture this weekend, so the Pars are in Cup action against East Fife in the SPFL Trust Trophy. This should prove to be an interesting fixture as while Dick Campbells East Fife may be considered League 2 underdogs they are one of the form teams in this division and no doubt “The Bunnet” will view this fixture as a potential banana skin for the Pars. East Fife won 5-1 last weekend against Clyde and 4-0 against Stirling Albion the week before. With only one league loss they have won 4 games on the trot and should not be underestimated. The Pars continue to struggle although we managed a decent draw against former league leaders Ayr Utd last time out and actually scored our first league goal of the season. It might be unfair to say the Pars have been rank rotten thus far (Some will disagree!) there is a dullness and utter lack of creativity from a team that is lacking in confidence resulting in a team playing safe, but ultimately not posing a threat either. While the performance against Ayr had improved with new signings, ultimately the Pars decided to play safe again rather than press forward. The Pars need to progress in Cup competitions and I hope McPake will seek to play the strongest available side and play with a quick tempo. If we sit back and allow East Fife to dictate the game - it will be another failure to progress. It’s a tough call, but I think The Pars might edge it. Superally
Once again nothing on COWs regarding the McPake's pre-match interview. No idea what the club are doing regards their social media these days. This always appeared on a Thurs afternoon.
livipar2
Thought the social media in general has improved in recent weeks. Plenty of room for further improvement and who knows what’s happened with the managers preview 🤷♂️
Superally
Dave McKay gave the preview. Bene will be out on Sat and Matty Todd will be going to a specialist in 10 days where hopefully he will get the all clear to do contact training. Fogarty will be on U21 duty. Sam Young has been given praise and will likely be on from the start. Interestingly they say the loan market is quiet, but the still have Craig Clay training with the team Dave Mackay previews East Fife | Dunfermline Athletic Football Club - (dafc.co.uk)
kelty_par
Surely they’ve seen enough of clay to decide if he’s to get a deal or not. Actually think the team won’t miss Bene too much this time round as he’s been pretty poor…. Loan signings I still think we need 3 minimum as the bench is so poor like we seen last Saturday
Secure Par
Sound like our German investors have to give the go ahead to sign Clay like every other signing that has happened…to long imo
Grant
1 hour ago, Secure Par said: Sound like our German investors have to give the go ahead to sign Clay like every other signing that has happened…to long imo That or the management team are wanting to see what players become available in the loan market. If he came in would he be a starter, have they got there eye on someone else that would start? Etc etc. I have no idea btw, just hypothesising. As for the game tomorrow it's as awkward a challenge Cup tie as I can remember, and as important a one since the final imo. We made noises in pre season about taking it seriously, we've confirmed in the pre Match press releases that we'll be playing a full strength squad. A loss would be brutal going into a tough Fife Derby game next week. On the flipside will much credit he given if we win? Unless it's a resounding pumping I'm not sure. Hopefully a morale boosting win, but with how East Fife looked in pre season, and how they've started the season I'm worried tbf.
Al k
"Loan market is slow moving" No thats us every window. Not looking forward to tomorrow. I'm confident it will be as successful as the other cup campaign's.
Eastendtales
Never mind the bench, we still look weak on the pitch. Grant is right, this is an important Challenge cup game as ever. For McPake, another lower league cup defeat should empty him no? 1 can be acceptable, 2 I unacceptable, 3 is sheer incompetence.

It should be but can’t see our owners paying up a 2 year contract when they don’t want to spend the cash
Piracy
Dunno, maybe 2-1 Pars? Or maybe 3-1 East Fife. If we get tanned then McPake is definitely one foot closer to the exit. He has to start winning games. 1

He has to start winning games. 1 win in our last 13 competitive games or something close to that. 5 league wins this calendar year and an absolute awful home record of just 2 wins at east end this calendar year too. Worst of it is that the owners won’t sack him and think he’s just been ‘unlucky’
scottyboy
I don't think he can afford to lose for a 3rd time to a part time team. No disrespect to East Fife, but surely our full time pros have to be better players, or maybe the part time team have a better manager . I'm not asking a question, as I probably know the answer. Hopefully McPake will tell his team, we really need to be defeating this lot today. He really needs the win. What will be interesting is the fact that while many moan a lot about buying in better talent and why have the Pars not splashed out. East Fife have certainly not spent £Ms in the international transfer market (not that I have noticed). Today's performance and result could be very telling. We have some very decent players, on paper, they have an average but well coached and motivated team. We will learn a lot from today.
