Piracy Posted November 18 Report Posted November 18 There's probably more to the situation than we obviously know. Tbf it's happened and I'd imagine the club realise that club volunteers are invaluable. Hopefully once the club is sold there's a bit of restructuring we can then rebuild, move onto better things taking everyone with the club, especially volunteers. 1 Quote
Superally Posted Monday at 23:07 Author Report Posted Monday at 23:07 Interesting link came up on my news feed. Slightly sceptical of some of the nonsense going around atm. But I'll leave folk to draw their own opinion. As long as due diligence has been done. Paradox Posted Tuesday at 11:15 Report Posted Tuesday at 11:15 3 minutes ago, Piracy said: Due diligence by whom though? Genuine question. I'd be hopeful that this consortium have done a lot of research into where the Club is at present, and what it really needs to regain its status as a top-flight Club. There has to be a clear business plan, both short and longer term this time. Although the GmbH plan showed a positive outlook for the longer term in so much that there looked to be a solid infrastructure, etc, they seemed to be quite willing to sacrifice the present in terms of the playing squad to achieve that, then spat the dummy when the fans challenged them on it. I remain hugely sceptical as to why anyone would want to invest in DAFC, as I did with the Germans, and I'm still not sure what their endgame was intended to be. The SPFL MUST do better at protecting its member clubs - in recent years, ourselves, Hearts, Dumbarton, Dundee, ICT, Livi, Gretna, Clydebank and Rangers to name a few have all been victims of major financial mismanagement leading to clubs entering admin or folding altogether. This guy James Bord has won over $4m playing poker, so clearly has a bob or two in his jeans pockets. He seems to have come from a business background beforehand as well, so hopefully he is fairly business-savvy, and in a modern way, so that he can utilise things like social media etc to the benefit of the Club. Hopefully this is all concluded fairly soon though, so we can go into the New Year with a bit of clarity off the pitch, and maybe a wee bit optimism on it as well Quote
weemike Posted Tuesday at 12:17 Report Posted Tuesday at 12:17 Winning $4m in tournament cashes doesn't mean he has $4m, He would've spent a good couple of millions to be a successful player at that level. Hardly anyone will be up $4m except the very best. Even the very best supplement their income with sponsor and streaming deals. I haven't heard of the guy before and I play and watch alot of poker. DA-go Par Adonis Posted Tuesday at 13:30 Report Posted Tuesday at 13:30 He mainly plays cash games, apparently. Overall then, he may be worth a fortune and could have an excellent data analysis company. Alternatively, he could be worth nothing and an absolute chancer. He also mightn't be the main driver or main source of cash - just the one with a bit of a profile. 1 Quote

DA-go Par Adonis Posted Tuesday at 14:29 Report Posted Tuesday at 14:29 I'd prefer some wild speculation, tbh. 1 Quote

This reeks of a journalist getting hold of some details, googling the names and coming up with someone with a profile of sorts. There is absolutely nothing to suggest he is the majority shareholder in the group, merely that he is ‘spearheading’ it. Thomas Meggle could have been described in the same way previously as he was arguably the one with the highest profile, but likely lowest input financially. 1 Quote
