Captain_K Posted November 13, 2024 Report Posted November 13, 2024 A bit concerned about this. "Involved in other sports" and "connections with Scotland". Donald getting bored with golf and looking for a new sporting venture? Make the Pars great again... 1 Quote
Secure Par Posted November 13, 2024 Report Posted November 13, 2024 Let’s just hope the new investors have a lot of ££££ and a management team to sort all the crap out that our German friends have left! Quote

It's just really unfortunate that covid, brexit and relegation etc all made that task even harder than expected, (They also didn't help themselves in a variety of ways) 3 Quote

It is a risk(not that we have any choice), I have a lot of issues with GbMH, but there are significantly worse people who get involved with football clubs. On the other hand, we can't continue as we are, or even as we were when they were pretending to be committed. 13 minutes ago, Raymie said: I don’t know what gmbh were trying to achieve Some fantasy land BS. 12 minutes ago, SanguinePar said: Didn't St Mirren sell their spiritual home to Tesco and move to a soulless identikit stadium? I'd give my left baw for our next 15 years to look like the 15 they've had since leaving love street Quote
weemike Posted November 13, 2024 Report Posted November 13, 2024 We also had a fantastic time 20 years ago and almost folded because of it. 1 Quote

I genuinely think this is a different scenario. The last lot were driven by a philanthropist ethos, developing youngsters and the academy to the obvious detriment of the playing squad, at least that my interpretation. The new owners (whoever they are) are hopefully going to give a manager serious backing first, then get some much needed maintenance carried out around the stadium. Quote

I'm not sure philanthropy is the right way to describe GmbH there was a lot of ego involved, but then maybe philanthropy has an inherent egotistic aspect to that, wanting things named after you etc. Whatever philanthropy was involved certainly wasn't to do the best for DAFC and the community that supports it. da_no_1 Posted November 13, 2024 Report Posted November 13, 2024 These new guys better be the real deal. We're due so much more than the current shambles on and off the pitch. Quote

We're losing similar money doing what we're doing. There's not an easy way of running the club, but losing fans and running the club into the ground waiting for young talent saving us is never going to work. I would rather be in St Mirren's position right now. Edited November 13, 2024 by Tartan Army Par Quote

I hope this is a different scenario. GmbH went wrong as they didn’t ensure the 1st team had decent signings. If you accept they had unexpected costs in the training ground, floodlights, with a relegation etc, maybe they’d have been better to change priorities and keep the player budget healthier and delay some of those longer term aims. Hindsight eh? Hoping we can scrape along, avoiding relegation scraps and serving poor quality football should never be in any football business plan. Quote
GG Riva Posted November 14, 2024 Report Posted November 14, 2024 Just to clarify the speculation regarding David Cook's whereabouts (not that it's anybody else's business) I was at EEP on Tuesday, helping with a stadium tour for kids from Touch PS. The CEO was working in the Boardroom but took himself elsewhere so that the kids could have a look around. So, unless he went on holiday yesterday, I have to conclude that any post suggesting otherwise, is err..... well wide of the mark. 1 Quote

Years in the 2nd tier since, and outwith last year have been fairly well run financially. 41 minutes ago, GG Riva said: Just to clarify the speculation regarding David Cook's whereabouts (not that it's anybody else's business) I was at EEP on Tuesday, helping with a stadium tour for kids from Touch PS. rosythpar Posted November 14, 2024 Report Posted November 14, 2024 Hopefully when the new owners come in we can have a complete clear out from top to bottom! Quote
Maltapar Posted November 14, 2024 Report Posted November 14, 2024 Given that we don’t who the consortium is or what their expectations are then it is difficult to guess what impact they will have. However I would hope that anybody buying the club would do so with the intention and with the financial resources, to have us back in the premier league. 1 Quote
