Nah that deal was incredible, sold Love street and got tesco to pay for a new training ground and stadium. They've only spent 2? Years in the 2nd tier since, and outwith last year have been fairly well run financially.

They still sold their spiritual home and moved to a soulless identikit stadium. Not a route I would ever want the Pars to go down.

Not that I'd want to move from EEP, but to call their new ground soulless is a bit unfair whenever I've been it has been quite good, the atmosphere is decent because its a sensible size which is better than rattling around in a massive stadium like Killie's for example with a few thousand in the stands. Only complaint I had was that they had no bar for fans at the stadium which is strange for a modern ground

Hopefully when the new owners come in we can have a complete clear out from top to bottom!

I agree with that sentiment.

I threw my lot into the ring back in 2012, behind Ross McArthur and the guys. I'm glad that I did.

That said I do remember that there were people who'd backed Masterton that went onto to have involvement in the club after admin that I wouldn't have had involved. However Ross took a high level and hollistic overview to get them involved as we needed to move quickly and it was less stressful to keep their skills-set rather go searching for replacements. We really had limited resources and limited choices and that hugely influences decision making.

So as much as he and the guys did a fantastic job to unify the Pars support, some of those people who maintained their involvement annoyed me for years afterwards, but maybe that's why I don't run a football club.

So ideally we should sweep the club clean, however it's unlikely that would happen immediately as it'd have a destabilising effect. Plus we still rely heavily on volunteer's and they're harder to replace than pais professionals imo.

Whoever takes over needs to implement a structure that is capable of providing effective leadership and have a coherent  strategy put in place.

Smp is absolutely fine, the spiritual home of a football club is where the fans call home, Dunfermline moved in 1903, are we not at our spiritual home anymore?

St Mirren moved half a mile, the move has allowed them to flourish as a club and has seen them become a fairly permanent fixture in the Premier league, they've even won a domestic Cup in that time.

It's note like they left a particularly good stadium either, Love Street was crumbling by the time they left. All St Mirren fans I know are happy with the move, which speaks volumes.

Just piling on the St Mirren topic, Love Street was a mess - it wasn't just a money grab, would have cost a fortune to get it up to spec where it would inevitably just crumble again anyway. The new stadium's far better, regardless of if it's not the "spiritual home", was definitely the right move. Hopefully we don't get into a similar situation, especially given land costs in Dunfermline will be much higher than Paisley, so we'd likely have to move to the sticks in that scenario.

I do hope if a new consortium takes over they minded to use some of the expertise available to them at a local level. Folk like Ross and Bob Garmonary have valuable knowledge about how this club works best at a local level

Yeah I agree about using Ross McArthur for advice, makes absolute sense. I'm not sure the present board actually did that.

Hughes claimed they didn't

But he is a less reliable source than a flat earth facebook page

I would much rather a local investor was involved.  Thanks to GmbH I'm as suspicious of foreign investors as Nigel Farage is of dinghies in the English channel.

Local investors with an emotional attachment to the Pars would naturally want to put the bulk of their cash into the club, to the detriment of the group looking to sell up. The American group have no connection with the Pars and will be more open to giving the sellers the money they want, which makes them strong favourites.....
