The game turned on the miss by Hamilton. Had he scored the match would have been level with the Pars having the momentum to go and seek a winner. Just hope that Kane is fit for next week.

Game needed a bit o2 and KRH but took an age

But KRH came on at halftime?

I don't agree at all that we were inept, nor that it was back to the usual. It was a much better performance than most this season, IMO. We didn't get the result, but the trend is good I think.

It's so frustrating just now.

I said at HT that I'd take a draw as both teams were pretty even.

When we play solid teams like Thistle etc we just don't seem to have that extra 10% to take the 3 points.

We kicked off at 3:04:30 on my watch today. Not uncommon either for some reason, we always seem to start after 3 pm.

Anyway, more of the usual from us today. Went direct and quick at times in the second half but other than that we didn't create much. Partick had two good chances and forced Tobi into one good save from one and scored from the other. Small margins and all that.

Think the subs made us worse. Todd needs to play in the middle or not at all, he's wasted on the left. Clay and Wotherspoon offered little but stayed on too long. OK Ngwenya gave away the foul for their goal but he was making some really productive runs up the left then he came off just as he was having great success.

Anyway, just means we'll be finishing 8th at best I think. Need to make sure we beat Morton and Airdrie, and that we pick up the odd point here and there. Falkirk looking likely title winners just rubs salt in the wound though.

Just seen the 8 minutes of highlights and you are spot on. Not much between two average sides. The highlights suggest that the Pars were marginally better but are absolutely woeful in front of goal. Nobody on the near post at their goal made it a simple goal. The free kick should have been defended like a corner. I suspect we will survive because Morton and Airdrie are so awful. Eighth it is I reckon

Morton have quite a few injuries at the  moment. Similar to this time last season. I expect them to improve significantly.

Their own fans don't and they see them every week. I'd be interested to know why you expect them to improve significantly.

As I said they have quite a few injuries. They were unlucky a few games at the start of the season.

My mate would disagree with that. He thinks Crawford's a miss for them.

I think he was referring to the fact that we were denied an obvious corner and they went straight up the other end and got the free kick that lead to the goal.

Ach, I'll be coming across as negative here but so much happens between the two incidents I wouldn't call it bad luck, there's so much that happens between them that we have ample opportunities to be the master of our own destiny, imo.

We lost today, because the same problems that we have, other teams do better than us....We don't defend a set-piece and give a cheap goal away yet again (bad coaching),  we don't score an absolute sitter from 8 yards that any other team would score (not bad coaching but Chris Hamilton is not a very good footballer and we need to realise this. Snapping at heels doesn't make a good player). That's the difference between us and Partick. Not luck.

On top of that we have certain players that we think are good (because the league 1 season) but really are not very good at Championship level. Matty Todd is lost at this level, Comrie yet again was terrible and Hamilton a headless chicken giving fouls away with zero quality to his game.

We we're so bad in the last 3rd yet again. Completely toothless without Kane, just hopeful rubbish we've seen most of McPake's tenure.  No corner turned,  just back to square one again.

Another fluke result against Livi I'm afraid. Anybody could be given the Pars manager job for 3 years and have a handful of good games. The manager is  hopeless and he needs to go now.

McPake out

Being very harsh on Hamilton and Todd here IMO. Hamilton has his faults but he's still our best midfielder alongside Otoo IMO. Clay isn't offering much at all and Chalmers doesn't really have the physicality that Hamilton has. Todd is looking a little lost but I think a lot of a that is down to the lack of consistent game time after his injuries and McPake not finding a way to get more out of him.

While Saturday was very disappointing, I thought it highlighted that we are generally no worse than Partick. We didn't play great, but we weren't completely **** either, but other teams are resilient and can grind out results while we cannot. Players just do not play to their potential often enough - no player plays well every week, but we collectively seem to play well, or collectively play poorly and it's more often the latter than the former. A change in the coaching team is critical - can't keep doing the same things week in, week out and expect different results. I don't even think there needs to be a huge improvement in performances but McPake has had long enough to bring about the improvements that are required.

I thought Sam Young had a good first half but really toiled in second half - a reminder that he's still very young and while I do like his progressive passing, he's going to have games where his lack of experience exposes him. I liked Dapo's direct approach and while his success rate is pretty low, he clearly causes defenders concern - needs a serious word about releasing the ball though. At least one chance in first half would have been a very good goal scoring opportunity had he played the ball across box. Clearly missed Kane when he went off and I thought KRH was excellent when introduced in second half.

All in all, a very frustrating match. But this squad is easily good enough - I thought we were below par and still good enough for a draw. Board can be criticized for leaving it so late to invest in first team but that squad is more than capable of challenging for promotion playoffs. The fact we're not is on the coaching staff.
