Superally Posted November 13 Report Posted November 13 This Saturday we have the proverbial 6 pointer bottom of the table clash when the Pars welcome Airdrie to EEP. In the worst possible scenario if we lose we will continue to remain in 9th by a single point. The best scenario and a win could take the Pars to eighth in the table if Morton fail to get a result at the San Starko against Raith. Enthralling perhaps, but at least the possibility of making progress and creating a seven point gap to Airdrie might allow some breathing space. However, the Pars have never been a team to make easy for themselves or the faithful. Airdrie have had one win this season, two draws and ten defeats conceding 26, and scoring 6 goals. In terms of form they have lost their past 5 games confirming their bottom of the table status. The Pars in terms of form have lost their last two league games and their last win was a 3-0 home win against Livi. The last outing against Airdrie was a 1-1 draw with a Kane penalty and Airdrie equalising later into the game. This really should be a must win game and needs to be. The Pars should take a little confidence from the Trust Trophy game against Alloa, but we really need to convert chances into goals and keep a clean sheet. Feeling slightly optimistic for this one 2-0 Pars COYP Quote
Superally Posted November 15 Author Report Posted November 15 It seems that Kane will be fit to return for the Airdrie game. Good news 1 Quote
scottyboy Posted November 15 Report Posted November 15 Has to be a score draw, surely? Both sets of fans and managers won't be any further forward come full time. I'm predicting 0-0 Quote
GG Riva Posted November 16 Report Posted November 16 (edited) The frequent use of the term "must win" usually elicits a wry smile from this old geezer, especially when it`s applied to games before the halfway stage of the season. And yet, for a number of reasons, it`s a real crunch game today; 1. A win for the Pars puts us a massive 7 points ahead of Airdrie. Having only amassed 5 pts so far, such a gap would have a demoralising effect on everyone connected with the club 2. Conversely, a Pars win would ease the pressure on our players and manager and potentially lift us out of the relegation play off place. Psychologically, this would give everyone a massive boost and perhaps initiate a steady climb up the table. 3. The consequences of a defeat are unthinkable. Airdrie would find themselves within touching distance of the Pars and everyone connected with the club would be on a real downer. I don`t expect anything other than a really tense, tight game with perhaps just the one goal deciding it. I hope the manager sets up for us to get after Airdrie right from the kick off - not gung ho - but with enough intensity to pin them back in their own half and give us every chance to open the scoring. And if we do that, I want us to continue to push for a second goal, rather than drop deep to defend our lead and leave us all with no nails. COYP Edited November 16 by GG Riva Cannae count. 😔 1 Quote
Number Eleven Posted November 16 Report Posted November 16 In normal circumstances this might be considered a must win game for our management team. Hopefully the good performance from Tuesday night will be supplemented by more clinical finishing and we’ll all feel a little better looking at the league table come 5 o’clock. 1 Quote
kelty_par Posted November 16 Report Posted November 16 How sad that just surviving is the aim already so early into a season 😔 Quote

Let’s hope the new owners reinvigorate all and we can improve through the season ? a win here could be the start of this new journey ? I’m fairly confident we will win today with Kane in the line up I’m taking my neck pillow and rug, though 2 Quote

Raymie Posted November 16 Report Posted November 16 (edited) I hope it’s Hammy at the back and Otoo in midfield ? It would give us more of an attacking threat with Ewan and Chris is a good reader of the game and calm in possession Edited November 16 by Raymie Quote
