da_no_1 Posted November 17 Report Posted November 17 Just now, Eastendtales said: First half was everything that is frustrating with him. Lack of awareness, balls bouncing off him, no threat, breaking down our own attacks. Can't disagree with that but I like how he doesn't hide. It looks like he doesn't give a **** about his last chance missed. He's an asset and there are far more concerning issues in our team than him. Getting our best midfielder playing in midfield would be a start. Unbelievable. Quote

Hamilton and Chalmers are not a pairing that offer much of a goal threat. Infact I was fuming with Chalmers early on for not aggressively taking his one on one chance. Quote

The difference between Otoo advancing with the ball and those two is huge. Quote

What would your preferred midfield two be atm da_no_1? I couldn't agree more that I want Otoo in midfield, however I worry that a midfield two of him and Hamilton lacks quality with regards to passing. I wouldn't though want to play Chalmers in every game, I like him more than most and I think he's a good squad player, but some games just simply won't suit him. That then leaves Clay who after being a mainstay after his signing hasn't played a minute since being subbed off against QP at half time. (Along with Forgarty). I think all things considered I'd play Clay there, but McPake might have been serious when he said he doesn't trust some players or words to that effect. Quote
Yorkie Posted November 18 Report Posted November 18 Sitting in the main stand rather than NW on Sat you could see our midfield was not dominating - dont know what the answer is Quote

DA-go Par Adonis Posted November 18 Report Posted November 18 Given the players we have, it would surely be a midfield trio anyway. Otoo, Hamilton and Todd/Wotherspoon would seem like the best option to me. 1 Quote

It's funny how we all see it differently, because I feel Hamilton and Otoo get overrun too much when they are together in midfield. Hamilton I think over the last 18 months has been a better CB than a defensive midfielder. Almost like he performs better with more of the game infront of him, Otoo I don't really mind if he is at CB with a 3, aslong as he can picked up the ball and roam forward. With witherspoon/todd/clay and chalmers CM should be covered. But I do still feel Allan being let go was a mistake. Is clay any better or cheaper? I'm not so sure. Quote
