My initial reaction when I seen the headline was a big "Aw ****", but it's done him a disservice and once you read the article I came away happier.

"Entrepreneur James Bord is the founder of San Francisco-based Short Circuit Science, a company which specialises in sports data analytics, medical prescription technology and climate adoption analysis. "

Specialising in sports data analytics is what the Brentford and Brighton owners (Matthew Bentham and Tony Bloom) done, they also recently got involved with Cordoba so they're not completely new to football ownership.

Them getting involved with Cordoba only 3 months ago doesn't exactly inspire confidence in them being dedicated owners.

Fair, but there's plenty of clubs now who have owners with clubs in different countries etc. Wider range of players/data that can go between the clubs.

Not to keep going back to it, but Matthew Bentham owned Midtjylland at the same time as he owned Brentford. That's the gold standard obviously but it can work.

Yeah I've no real issue with multi-club ownership, it's more how soon it's after they've gotten involved with Cordoba that sets off alarm bells for me.

It doesn't initially inspire me with confidence, however I don't know enough yet to make any real judgement.

What concerns me more at the moment is who's grassing club business to journalists? It's certainly not an individual who has the clubs business at heart. They need rooted out and booted out the club.

Someone could be leaking to the press as they are worried about the potential new owners.

My first thoughts are that this has got Ivan bonetti and Claude anelka written all over it.

I suppose I don't really care about the leaks. The toons full of gossips, always has been. Its not going to change.

I'm more concerned about the content which could have far wider implications for the football club.

Everyone is looking into these analytics now in general, its already really in wider use in football. My company (a bank) send people on week long camps to do apprenticeships in data analysis. Looking at the article it seems to sepecialise in medical stuff rather that sport and looking at the website it seems basic.

Looks like the guy doesnt have deep pockets if he c**ks it up an and it doesn't appear to be a large data company compared to others going in football like hearts seem to be getting etc. As yet no espertise for running a successful business is reported (and they are trying to take over one which has been losing money) or background in sport(apart from a minority stake in Spain) far less scottish lower league fitbaw. I suppose we will need to see who else is in this consortium and who they are putting in place. I canae see this guy being around day to day.

The first thing they need to do is sort out the structure of the club and get ahold of the finances and a poker player does not give me that re-assurance!!!

At least with the Germans although they made mistakes I was pretty sure they wouldn't just let us go bust, they seemed like good people that made mistakes. A poker players mentality is literally boom or bust!!!

First questions will always need to be whoever comes in

1- whats the long term plan/exit strategy

2- Who will be in charge of financial control

There are always the usual suspects when news gets around, Stephen McGowan drink up the town?

Initial gut feeling is oh ****, this is not good, especially as there was a local group of Pars minded folk in the hat. Our illustrious owners clearly living true sportsmanship and not putting the dollar before the club.

My thoughts too.

We've got "Pars-minded" people involved in the running of the current shambles & we've had them in complete control in the past. They nearly killed the club altogether.

It’s a case of wait and see for me, I’ve been around long enough to know that it’s a case of wait and see and you can never predict how these things are gonna go.  The analytical background is interesting because it’s obviously worked for other clubs and seems to be the hot topic in footballing chat these days.

As long as there’s a string business plan in place, prudence when spending and investment to increase playing budgets and facilities, then I’m happy.
