Chat today and on other forums seems to be that the sale of the club is done? All just rumours until it's confirmed but hopefully is done soon and we can get rid of McPake.

Not holding my breath anyway.

What other forums would they be? Don't frequent as many as I did and haven't seen anything.

I don't think that's anything different that's been rumoured for a while tbf. We're now just approaching the end of the year.

Without trying to come across as a stalker, his account on .net has the name of a local electric company so there's every chance he's more connected tbf.

I see a lot of chat too, I'm still very cautious. I think there is overwhelming and raised expectation from changed fortunes. Who is to say that new owners will wish to move McPake on and at what cost? Indeed in terms of the direction of the club I'm thinking there is not likely to be a cash windfall in the Jan window even if new owners are in place. Equally there are players who may be moved on but that also comes with a cost too. Atm we are fairly strong candidates for a relegation play off place do we need to be burdened with a pile of debt in the seaside leagues again. I'm not arguing against a populist decision, but we have to overdose on swallowing bitter pills the pain might be too much. The ideal scenario would be to stay in the championship but that's beginning to look increasingly difficult

It's Christmas time and I would rather take a more optimistic tone. 2025 will see a new board, a new manager bounce that may take us to mid-table safety and remove the fears of a relegation play off,  the new manager will bring in one or two players in the transfer window that will make a difference to performances, and he will get more out of the existing players. Anyone got an address for my letter to Santa?

I never understand why people want to invest in clubs at this level. There is no way that they will make any money doing so. We need someone that things that £20 million is loose change.

I know it's counter-intuitive, but I don't think we do. Probably be a wild ride in the first couple of seasons but they are still unlikely to make any money, and instead lose quite a bit. And when they realise this, they are likely to pull their interest and that can be more damaging if they've saddled the club with debts derived from their wealth, or just ****ed it all up against the wall and do all they can to recover.

Money obviously helps. But the club just needs someone with a reasonable amount of business nous and football competency. Short to medium term success isn't winning Scottish Premiership or even winning a major trophy - that's the jackpot. Success is turning our relatively high revenue (compared to other Championship clubs) into a good but consistent Championship football team. Premiership football follows if you do it consistently well. Keep that competency going in the Premiership and build a solid foundation and longer term success follows.

Chase a good, competent owner. Not money. Sadly, not convinced that's what is happening.

I'm all for someone coming in, splashing the cash and being reckless.

As long as when they leave, they've invested properly so we can operate self sufficiently at a higher level than we are now and aren't bound for any debts.

I will presume the Germans will not get back the ££ what they are asking for as their initial plan for the academy etc was not completed.
Now the cash flow will show the extra money they had to put in or use the money from the pot to do the upgrades to EEP like the lighting and pitch problems.

Then they employ 2 full time staff to oversee the club plus deal with the 1st team manager/coaches plus players wages etc.

The club signed a few players for minimal £££ and a lot of if most of the under performing players will leave at the end of the season.

These so called players will be out of a job and I can guarantee anybody they will start playing better over Xmas/new year as they know their time is up…might see not so many injuries and players out but it won’t make much a difference when McPake plays an awful style of football.

Any new investment you need someone with cash in the bank but if they have other companies they can offset vat/tax etc. We will have to wait and see🤞🤞

Sounds like you've covered all eventualities. If we play badly you'll be angry and if we get better you'll be angry.

Heard the rumours too. How much credence I put toward it I'm not sure. I find it frustrating that if it's credible information then it has to be someone connected with the club, otherwise how is it getting out there?

I will be extremely surprised if anyone buying into scottish football would get the money back. Fergus McCann was probably the last to do so.

I suspect the outgoing board will be attempting to cut their losses as they have realised we are a money pit.

Hopefully the buyer's are aware of that and are not naive in their approach.

The upsides to having a well performing club would be the corporate visits to ibrox and celtic Park. With the odd game at East end where its bouncing.

This will come at a cost and it won't be cheap. But it is definitely doable.

You need deep pockets and other revenue streams outside if football to make it work.

Even the guys at Wrexham are starting to pull back on the spending and the end goal for them is a definite goldmine......one that we don't have.

Few people at the Edinburgh City game said a specific date.
