Following a challenging first half of the 2024-25 season, the Board of Directors of Dunfermline Athletic have decided to relieve Manager James McPake and Assistant Manager Dave Mackay of their duties.

The Board would like to thank James and Dave for their efforts whilst at KDM Group East End Park.

The management duo made a great impact on arrival at the club, leading us to the League One title during a record-breaking season in 2022-23. However, this season has proven challenging, and the club board felt the need to make a change as we head into January.

Current under-18 and reserve team coach John McLaughlan has been asked to prepare the team ahead of Friday’s visit of Falkirk in the Scottish Championship.

Whilst this decision has been taken by the current board of directors, we have made the prospective investor in the club aware of this decision.

Finally, we recognise this has been a challenging period for supporters and we would like to thank you for your continued support. We hope to see you at KDM Group East End Park on Friday night to help back the team in an important festive fixture.

Following on from my post less than an hour ago, I'm quite surprised at this news this morning, although undoubtedly it had to happen.

Sh!te for McPake and Mackay on a personal level to get sacked two days before Christmas, but hopefully whoever is actually running the Club these days has been looking around for a suitable management team who can steer us away from the bottom of the table, and into a better 2025!

Looking forward to being completely underwhelmed by the list of potential candidates.

I wouldn't mind Kevin Thomson or Ian Murray, but can't think of many others tbh.

Wow. So much for my, "nothing's going to happen until the new owners," theory.

Probably for the best that he's gone, but I do feel sad about it  because that run to the League 1 title was a lot of fun. It just hasn't worked enough since then though.

Fingers crossed for a good appointment now, and maybe a bit of a bounce on Friday night.

Makes me wonder if they (the Board) have someone lined up?  Would seem nuts to go into a huge game on Friday night with a completely inexperienced manager at the helm.

Never saw that coming, assumed it would be after the takeover but does this mean that’s nearly done?
