Barry Robson, Steven naismith, Ian Murray, Duncan Ferguson, Stewart Petrie, Darren Young, Michael Tidser, Ian McCall, The Campbells, Alan Maybury.

That's a shortlist I've came up with after a quick Google.

That's not to mention the others who might apply I would say basically anyone who has considered the Rovers will also consider us.

For me it would have to be.

Ian Murray

The Campbells

Tidser

Petrie

Ian McCall

In that order.

And something tells me Big Dunc will have a successful management career but is too risky for us at the moment.

He could be an interesting one. Still not forgiven him for his pretty vicious (and unpunished) elbow on Austin McCann many moons ago, but IIRC he did a good job at Hearts (for a while at least - didn't end well, obviously).

No thanks to any on that list.  The new owners might have a say, using their sports analysis stats?

Lol What stats? Games managed? games won?  I agree the new owners might have a say if the appointment is made after the sale but I can't see it being a quick turn around for the sale to happen.

The reality is we are where we are.

We need an established spfl manager who can work the market and get the players he has performing.

I doubt it will be an unknown quantity.

Absolute rag, half the quotes are from rival fans taking the ****.

Saw someone comment about it online. "Morals" from a paper that's cashed in on bollocks about miners, liverpool fans and did a countdown to when you could legally look at a child's breasts they'd photographed at least a week before.

Anyways as said before sad time to happen but he has a pay-off due to an outstanding contract more than others have got after being heaved at Christmas time.

It was definitely held up in the post, but it is the correct decision. I found him a likeable guy, so best wishes elsewhere, wherever he goes. We've probably now got a slightly better chance of getting something out our next game. Next problem will be offloading some of the squad, but the new manager coming in should know that, or we'll go down. Infact, I'm gonna attend my first game of the season, bring them on.

Agree that there has been an increasing inevitability about this; and, yes, I suspect McPake will be grateful for a break. I know it’s a results-driven business but what  gets me really riled is the utter hypocrisy of the “keyboard warriors” who, taking cover behind social media anonymity, have been giving our manager utter dog’s abuse for an absolute age and, now he’s gone, are spouting about what a good chap he is and are wishing him well for the future. These folk should sometimes remember that we’re all human and that we all have feelings all of the time. Merry Christmas, guys.

P.S. By the way, did you notice I managed all of the above without one sweary word, asterisked out or otherwise? Sorry, rant over.

I was slightly tongue slightly in cheek with my comment, weemike, but if it’s based on what you suggest, we’re looking at managers out of our price range.   I’d agree it should be someone who knows the Scottish leagues, rather than totally left field.  Could we afford Calum Davidson?

Really don’t see too much of that on here (barring a few posters). This club has been a huge part of my life for all of it and I want better for dafc. I was looking for McPake to be removed ten months ago as it was clear that he was not a fit with where the majority of supporters wanted us to be and the style of football (barring 3 or 4 games) was turgid. Never once questioned his integrity or desire to do well with the pars and therefore wish him well. It’s not his fault that the board situation occurred and they have dragged their backside with this overdue decision. Sorry to see two guys lose their jobs but happy for the club going forward.

McPake has been "done" for months. The results have been awful and the performances have been brutal to watch. Despite that McPake has always came across well at meet the manager nights etc so it's absolutely possible to have wanted him gone, but to wish him well for the future.

I think he could do with a break from management for a bit.

I think the increasing pressure he came under, as one poor result followed another, made him extremely irritable, which made for an unpleasant atmosphere both during the week and on match days. That's hardly an ideal scenario when you are faced with a challenging situation and you need everyone to be in complete harmony and pulling in the same direction.

Nervous, anxious, unhappy players cannot reproduce their best form.

As you would expect with a manager vacancy all the talk is of who the new manager will be. Yet what will decide if the Pars are challenging for promotion next year or facing relegation will be the new board and what their ambitions are and what budgets they will give to the new manager. Did James Mcpake receive the financial backing from the German board to sign the players that he wanted? Perhaps not. Certainly if the new board are not more generous it will not matter who becomes the new manager.
