Superally Posted December 31, 2024 Report Posted December 31, 2024 The still managerless Pars head to Firhill and Partick Thistle on Saturday. While the Pars got a commendable result last weekend other results didn’t go as well for us making this game and a result vitally important. The Jags sit in 4th place in the Championship table scoring 23 goals, conceding 14. Their recent form despite being beat 2-1 on Hogmany by Morton has been good, winning four of their last 6 games. Thus far they have enjoyed two 1-0 wins over the Pars this season. We essentially have it all to do - Interim Manager John McLaughlan is reported to be he heading away on holiday and with no new manager in place yet in terms of preparation the Pars could be at a disadvantage. However, the Pars and players did show commendable resilience last Friday night coming back three times to claim a valuable point in a deserved draw against the league leaders. More of the same will be necessary this Saturday and if a new manager is in place the team hopefully will benefit from the legendary bounce. The Pars still have to win away from home this season, hopefully we can start the new year with a good result. COYP 2 Quote
GG Riva Posted December 31, 2024 Report Posted December 31, 2024 I think the new manager will be in the dugout on Saturday. Those players who start, and those who come off the bench, will be desperate to impress and I can see us getting a positive result, I.e. a win or a draw. Not so confident if we have no manager and John McLaughlan isn't there either, but I'll be delighted to be proved wrong. 1 Quote
Secure Par Posted December 31, 2024 Report Posted December 31, 2024 The problem I see is a lot of the team players are out of contract at the end of the season and Tbf they haven’t really performed so how does the new manager get them back playing as they won’t get a new contract? Let some go on loan or just see who will play for the team? The only solution would be to bring in 5/6 loans to steady the ship and hope gets the team performing🤷 Quote

Bringing in 5/6;new players is a really wild suggestion. These players would have to be a) better than we have b) willing to come to the Pars c) willing to be loaned/sold by their current clubs and d) affordable within the limits of our budget. Similar obstacles to any players going out on loan. Still think your cunning plan is a realistic option? 🤔 Quote
Secure Par Posted December 31, 2024 Report Posted December 31, 2024 So what players that are out of contract would get a new 1 or 2 year deal with the way they have performed over the season? The new manager has a big job to get the team together as most are out of contract…this could be our biggest downfall! Quote
Al k Posted December 31, 2024 Report Posted December 31, 2024 Todays result was prob the worst for us, whenever a team need a bounce back result. Feels like were are always the team to play. So on that bombshell Partick for the standard 3pts. Quote

Tidser will likely give them a clean slate, play well until the end of the season and there's maybe a deal to be done. And even if the player doesn't believe that, they've got their career to think about and they need to look as good they can going into the shop window. It's not uncommon, the majority of players at this level live contract to contract. 48 minutes ago, Al k said: Todays result was prob the worst for us, whenever a team need a bounce back result. We're obviously not a bad option to play at home given our away record, but that's not cos we're dunfermline. The whole 'we're the team to play in a slump' is repeated by fans of just about every club, and never backed by any actual stats. Edited December 31, 2024 by parsforlife 1 Quote

Lots of fan's do but with the exception of the league one campaign we have been precisely that in our last three championship seasons. QP three times, Morton three times, Ayr twice just of the top my head. Your right about the players, he shouldn't have to motive them on that front out of contract and for a few possibly the last deals they will get. Quote
Raymie Posted December 31, 2024 Report Posted December 31, 2024 Monday and Tuesday to get compensation sorted. Still no news. it’s hard not to be cynical. 1 Quote
scottyboy Posted January 1 Report Posted January 1 Hopefully the new man will have a clear out, probably should have done the same 2 seasons ago. Oh! HNY to one and all. Think we could get a draw, a win would be fantastic. Quote
Buster_Brown Posted January 1 Report Posted January 1 Yesterday’s result puts the pressure right on us and leaves us little time to f about, especially with Morton & Hamilton meeting on Saturday. Think the only way the new gaffer can get everyone onside and onside quickly is to offer them the clean slate and to stick with it, if someone is doing well in training then they are in, doing well in matches, they stay in. I’m nervous about Saturday, I genuinely think they’re the second best team (outside Livi) in the league, but they seem to be held back back their manager. I hope that stays the case and we can come away with the points 🤞🏻 Quote

One, who would take out underperforming players and two, who can we attract, keeping in mind our finances and league position ? Edited January 1 by Raymie Quote
