I think that wearing a school uniform is a valuable component of self-discipline. If a child has to get up every morning and put on a uniform, it is instilling in that child that there are certain things that you have to comply with in life in order to advance, and this tends to reflect on behaviour. To the best of my knowledge, almost all schools in Australia demand strict uniform compliance. I can't recall ever seeing school kids out of uniform on designated school days. Every single school that my kids went to had a second-hand uniform shop within the school where items could be purchased for next to nothing. And in cases of genuine hardship, I believe most schools would waive these costs anyway.

 

 

I think we have to put last season behind us, including the players. Thomas, Donaldson and Pybus were probably the best of a bad bunch. Sad to lose Pybus as he had a decent engine, but he had his flaws. In the case of Thomas, especially, he often flattered to deceive. He played more bad games than good.

New broom now... clear out some of the remaining dross - for there are several remaining on contract that deserve to go - and let's move forward.

Thank you, Grant. I don't always agree with you, but I fully support your responses here. Instead of the grim conspiracy theories that we have had to plough through today, let me offer you an alternative prospect...

Do you really think he's interested in making a few quid on a minor land switch in Fife? Or has he a far more interesting plan in his mind?

Nick Teller and Albrecht Gundermann are shipping industry guys. No, they are not "shipping magnates" as some suggest on here and dotnet, but they are both well thought of in the industry, have experience of the finance sector and in Teller's case, a truly impressive record of turning around the fortunes of a long established shipping company that looked all but finished.

There is no more volatile industry in the world than shipping. To succeed in it requires balls of steel. It normally takes two to three years from ordering a ship to seeing it fully built and sliding down the slipway into commercial operation. The market conditions may have completely changed in that period... a global financial crisis could see a shipowner's potential earnings slide below his loan repayments for the ship; alternatively, a vessel running aground in the Suez Canal or a global pandemic could suddenly see earnings grow by a multiple of 20. Shipowners are used to the booms and busts of the global trading markets... they don't look to make a quick buck. They look to get their money back on their shipping investment in 12 to 15 years, knowing that earnings thereafter will be cream and the profits could be immense. That's why if they say they are looking at DAFC as a seven to eight or nine year project, there is actually every reason to believe them.

Instead of contemplating another German supermarket in the town, or opportunities for folk to buy into a small housing estate with lovely views out their back windows of the local cemetery, perhaps there is an alternative that sees EEP remain as it is and a new training ground get established at Rosyth, just as promised...

Perhaps the German plan is for Dunfermline Athletic is to be a new model for Scotland, a centre of football excellence for youth from around the world who can learn their trade in a professional environment overseen by the fourth member of the investment team, Thomas Meggle. Where the team has direct links with larger clubs on various continents, and possibly we become part of a Red Bull-like franchise. I would still support the Pars if they were called Red Bull or RB Dunfermline. No bother at all with that if it meant that the club had a sustainable and successful future.

Of course, my vision is pure speculation. I have no grounds to believe that this is the way that the Germans are thinking, but my vision has as much merit and likely more credence than that vision being put forward by RM and others who are skeptical of the motives of the German investors.

Doubtless, they would have been mightily encouraged seeing 5,500 turn up for the QoS game last week. That was two thousand fans who suddenly emerged from the shadows... a sleeping giant indeed. Everything suggests that the Germans have a plan. It may have been set back a bit by relegation, but they surely have a plan. The imperative for them now is to tell us about it. Just give us some hope that things will get better...

I am pretty sure that they will.

I think a major part of the problem is Yogi's approach to management. The flak he received from his Rovers' rant a few years ago seems to have had a long-term effect on him. He appears to have overcompensated to the extent that now he wants to be everyone's mate. In other words, he is doing a "David Brent".

As any decent manager will tell you, this is a huge mistake. The comedian manager very quickly converts to the clown and before very long, the players see indecision, delayed actions and a failure to criticise, and their natural response is insubordination, ill discipline and outright disobeying of that manager's instructions. 

It is evident that there are several players who are not following any plan and are simply going through the motions and playing their own game. 

We all know who they are. 

 

 

 

 

I agree Berry. Much as I admire Ross for the huge effort that he has put in over a number of years, the timing of this event is odd and is bound to be met with mixed feelings given where we now find ourselves.

I am in line with the prevailing view that we should win this one by 2 or 3 goals. If we don't, then I don't think we need worry about the play-offs, as the manager and the players will obviously blow them sharpish, probably after the first leg of the first encounter at Firhill.

I hate everything about this season. Everything seems to have gone wrong...

At the weekend, I was thinking that it was the 54th anniversary of our Scottish Cup win in 1968. My thoughts turned back to the happiest and most fulfilling day of my Pars supporting life. I was just a kid standing on the terracing at the half way line at Hampden, soaking it all in. But we won the cup that April day, meaning that I could forever proudly say, yes I was there! 

The intervening years have not been particularly kind to the Pars. There seem to have been way more bad days than good. In common with a fair number of folk on here, I am much, much closer to the end of the runway than I am to the beginning, and time is fast running out to see and enjoy any further Pars success. 

If we are relegated this season, I honestly don't know if I can bear it any more. Through streaming services, I have watched all but perhaps a dozen Pars matches live home and away in the past five years. A Saturday 3pm kickoff time means that I have to set my alarm for Sunday morning 2am for most of the season. 

If we go down, it may just be my time to say farewell to all of this and offer sincere thanks to DAFC for consistent underachievement and way, way too few happy memories... 

Wow, just wow! An amazing last 15 minutes.Good substitutions turned the game on its head. Very well done, Pars!!!

At this stage, even a draw is not enough for us. And right now, I don't know where a Pars goal will come from to get us back into the game. We are beyond inept in almost every aspect, whether that be tactics, execution or individual performances. Our goalie has yet again saved us from disappearing under an avalanche.

I can't see us get anything out of this game.

Spot on, Al k. There were several incidences of him being far too relaxed, and this weakness in his game is repeated week after week. There is no question that he is a solid defender when he sticks to the task, but when he gets it in his mind that dribbling is a great idea when he is the last man...

Effie Ambrose puts me in mind of Marlon Brando in Apocalypse Now. You can tell that the guy has real natural talent, but what is frightening is that his ad lib performances can be so edgy and incoherent as to almost ruin the film...  :))

Yes Hughes better pull his socks up. One of the first lessons you need to learn in management is that you are not paid to be popular. Hughes sadly has not learned that  and increasingly he is coming across as a gormless idiot. It doesn’t take long for players to pick up on that and before he knows it, he will have lost the dressing room.

We’re we not 3-0 down at half time? It was a shocking performance. We came back a bit in the second half, but the damage had been done by then.

I flew from Australia to Scotland to attend two cup finals that year and we lost them both!  :))

I just don't the understand line up today. I guess we'll just have to wait and see what transpires, but underwhelming is a word that is coming to mind.

If Ayr win and we lose today, I don't think that realistically we can hope for any better than 9th. Each time we drop 3 points to our rivals just hastens us reaching the point of no return where the future is no longer in our own hands.

A really frustrating second half. Totally gutted that we blew this. This game was screaming out for Dom Thomas to get some time against his old team. And now Comrie is red carded. Jeez!
