Deutsch Par
It's been announced that one of the places bidding for City of Culture 2021 is... Paisley. I've lived and studied there and one thing it is not is cultural, St.Mirren are also considering renaming their ground Paisley 2021 Stadium.http://news.stv.tv/west-central/1332570-st-mirren-to-rename-stadium-as-part-of-paisley-city-of-culture-bid/ Edited November 16, 2015 by GordieBoy80 Adding word to title

Deutsch Par
It appears that the joke is on us... Paisley are in the final 5 "cities" to be shortlisted alongside Coventry, Stoke, Swansea and Sunderland http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/amp/40608581
Guest The Beer Baron
Coventry city centre is nice, mostly university. Stoke and Swansea I've no idea but Sunderland is a ****ing dive.
Teuchter
It did sound odd at first that Paisley was in for it, but I assume that part of the reason for the City of Culture title is to act as a catalyst for regeneration.Glasgow was European City of Culture a few years back. I am not sure how big a part it played in changing Glasgow's image, but I think it has changed. There was always a decent amount of cultural activity in Glasgow, whether music, art or writing, but it was buried beneath an image associated with heavy industry, alcohol, violence and bigotry. worldwiderab
The only culture in Paisley is under their fingernails.
