  1. Just a heads up that Falkirk's fireworks display is on in Callendar Park with a road closure along Callendar Road; from Benny T's chippy towards the town centre.

The traffic is always really busy when it's on; just like the display in The Glen causes anyone parked in Falkirk town centre, near the college etc will get caught up in it...

  2. Was the North-west not previously the "Scottish Grass Machinery Stand"?

I see the re-naming as having been done to the limit.

My list would be broadly the same as Fifes Elite, Young Pars and lounges (with exception of Jock Stein suite) I'd maybe be happy with an "in association with" or something like that.

Early bit of feedback - I seem to have lost access to my account info, so I can't see my notifications, can't edit my profile, etc. Also, some colours have changed a bit, sometimes making it hard to read. I'm sure it'll all get sorted, just for your info 🙂

For anyone else having the same issue a temporary fix is to scroll to the very bottom of the page and change the theme to the default. Found it by luck.

  4. Brilliant summary Piracy, seems they haven't changed much; plenty of "wuckfits" in our support (like every club).

Just in case my nightshift addled brain didn't get my thoughts over correctly my suggestion was a record of the presentations only. Recorded, edited checked with those involved and shared a couple of days later. These are often really good and just as often (mis?) quoted weeks or months down the line so ability for those who can't attend to see the thrust, even if edited highlights would be good.

  5. Great to see the engagement with this event. It would be great if even the presentations could be recorded, edited and shared by the club for those of us unable to attend. Obviously taking out anything we don't want to go further/ could be a stick to beat ourselves with/ end up like the famous Falkirk debacle from last year.

Question session on the other hand, perhaps sticking to a written record would be best...

  6. I tried to make my original post neutral in the hope of getting some discussion going so only fair I give my thoughts now...

I think that a good pre season could be a turning point for Dorrans, he definitely has pedigree and should be able to pull the strings in midfield. Hopefully a few good performances can put a lid on last season for him and others.

  7. In HR terms if the person feels the behaviour is bullying then it is generally accepted that it was as you can't tell someone how they should feel/ are feeling. This can be a one off.

To call someone a bully would be looking for a pattern of behaviour.

In terms of giving criticism every person responds differently depending on how it's given; critical advice in a 1-2-1 is very different to bawling someone out in front of the squad and all the shades in between...

  8. Thinking about it announcing the "new" board and then allowing them to make the decisions is good because they will want to be able to stand behind those decisions. No opportunity for deflecting to the previous incumbents...

    This lot?

    Revenue 21,000,000,000 Euro (2019)[1]
    354,000,000 euro
    Total assets 8,614,000,000 euro (2017)

With a cunning masterplan to alienate much of the community they want to spend money in the store...instead of buying a plot that's up for sale elsewhere without any of the baggage.

But I thought it was Lidl.

Must be in desperate need of a store in Dunfermline with the Parent Group revenues for 2020-21 only being around 125.3 billion Euro.....

Nothing wrong with being cautious/ sceptical but don't see this being a likely scenario what with the club not being the owner of the stadium.

I wasn't levelling any blame on the club, hardly their level of expertise. However if a pre inspection report has been done by a company and all asbestos outlined and removed then for further asbestos to be found is an indication that the survey was not done properly and that is now having an impact on the training ground refurbishment and potentially financial repercussions.

However whether any work should be getting done without planning permission is another question.

The last statement from the club on the training ground appears to be November with very little or anything since, usually by now you'd expect to see plans, artists impressions even 3D models but we have been told nothing just rumours.

As has been said by many before keeping fans updated and engaged should be a high priority for a community club, hell we need some good news and encouragement at the moment.

As you say finding asbestos and removal is time consuming and costly, unfortunately there are occasions in buildings that have been altered over time that you come across unexpected materials.

The biggest thing is the club needs to communicate more; many of the issues and by extension thoughts of worst case scenarios are because of the information vacuum. However if they are going to communicate it has to be done well. We've seen what happens when a message isn't properly articulated in the not to distant past.

Hopefully the new CEO is able to get this sorted, although I'm guessing that his 'to-do' list will be huge; not to denigrate the work done by those looking after the club before either!!

If this is true and the HSE are involved due to no surveys being carried out its not good news.

Its compulsory for all buildings to be surveyed prior to any demolition or refurbishment work being carried out.

All asbestos found has to be tested and removed as per the regulations usually requiring encapsulation of building or areas and all asbestos being gathered and sealed before removal.

It can be a long and expensive process.

I just love how we jump to the worst case scenario...

Even if I could stretch to agreeing our board of directors could be found wanting due to building management not being a strength (and ignoring what they said about the state of EEP under the surface when they took it on), it would also mean that Purvis who iirc are doing the works had also thrown away their professionalism...

I know of at least three occasions where asbestos has been found in an older building as layers are peeled back for refurbishment; despite a three inch thick asbestos register detailing all known locations, programmed surveys and pre-works surveys.
