  1. We can now announce that you can get to the Dunfermline Athletic Heritage Trust website via the Club's official website. Dead easy. Just click on the 'Club' tag on the official website and you'll see 'Heritage Trust'. Click on this and you're in the Heritage Trust website which is getting vastly more content -- in part from the Club's old site, due to the work of volunteers.

For example, look under Archives on the Heritage Trust website and you'll see a comprehensive player data-base put together recently by volunteers.

Thanks to Craig Brown and John Simpson for helping me to get the Heritage Trust site linked across from the Official website.

  2. A lot of the Historical content is now on the Dunfermline Athletic Heritage Trust website due to the work of volunteers in transferring it, plus new stuff there such as a comprehensive player data-base.

    Do have a look.

Intention is to update the look of the website which is at daht.org.uk and we know looks dated.

The Heritage Trust would be very keen to have links to the new Club website, and that is in the gift of the Club.

  3. `Those European Nights`: the story continues with the prints of VfB

Stuttgart and Girondins de Bordeaux available to buy now

This is an opportunity to buy history and at the same time support the

Dunfermline Athletic Youth Academy which is producing great players for

    the future.

Dunfermline Athletic has only played teams from Germany and France once

each in competitive football. They came out in front (narrowly) both

    times.

In season 1964-65, Dunfermline met VfB Stuttgart in the European Fairs

Cup. Defending a 1-0 lead from the first leg with a goal from Tom

Callaghan, the Scots went to Stuttgart and got the draw that saw them

progress in the competition to meet Athletic Bilbao.

Girondins de Bordeaux was a much higher scoring affair. The Pars took a

4-0 lead to France with goals from Paton (2), Mitchell and Gardner. A

towsy affair in Bordeaux saw the Pars through in the European Fairs Cup

despite losing two goals. The next opponent would be Gwardia Warsaw.

These prints, by renowned football artist Paul Town, are limited editions

of eighty-eight and each is signed by Paul. They contain not only the

paintings but also images of various artefacts from the games. The A3

prints are £25 each unframed and are sold as a pair. Where supporters

have purchased the Everton and Athletic Bilbao prints previously they will

be offered the same numbers for the prints.

    Payment link: https://fifepay.co.uk/checkout/european-stuttgartbordeaux-print

Once paid for, the prints can be picked up from the Paul Town `Those

European Nights` Art Exhibition in the Purvis Suite at East End Park

between 14.00 and 16.00 on Friday 23 June, i.e. on the afternoon of the St

Pauli friendly.match. Alternatively they can be collected in the

Dunfermline area by arrangement or otherwise posted out.

A small number of the Everton and Athletic Bilbao prints are available for

purchase at the exhibition. Names are also being taken for those who wish

to buy the bespoke `Those European Nights` binder which is currently out

    of stock.

  4. Season 21/22 I thought Deniz Mehmet was dreadful but last year he was sound. I guess that its all down to confidence. Our defence conceded 21 goals all season in 22/23 -- comfortably the lowest number in British leagues. Now we get an opportunity to test that defence next season at a higher level and see what it can do.  The keeper, the back 4 and Hamilton as defensive midfielder are all signed on. It's not a bad place to start from. Of course there will be twists and turns in the road but I would anticipate another four or five signings and  a similar number of loans (but some of those slightly later). Fortunately I know absolutely nothing about the budgets these days -- and sleep all the better for it.

  5. That sounds absolutely dreadful -- we really don't need (in my judgement) more/any clubs based on ethnicity or religion.

More than forty years ago I qualified with a lad whose family were some of the founders of Albion Rovers, and he had inherited shares from his grandfather. A family curse he called it. He had no Irish connection as far as I am aware. When I last met him, he was living in Brazil, which might be a better base for a new consortium....

  6. Sorry about the notification of your number not getting through to you. It was 42 I understand.

I know that you've been in touch with Brian who arranged for the random allocation of the numbers, and I know that he'll check to see why the email didn't reach you. You just can't get the staff (but I know he'd checked the system before issuing the emails). He'll get back to you.

    Apologies

I didn't win either (nor did Brian!) and we have written to the winner (No 54) to congratulate him and check if he is ok with us releasing his name and ideally having some publicity photos taken. Rather hoping that he lives in Dunfermline.

  7. My Saintee golf buddy is very relaxed (for once), and as he is a retired economist, I am sure he has been through all the permutations, and the Perth mob are safe. It is important for them as the Brown family are exiting this summer, after an outstanding era of stewardship.

You would think the second bottom would have too much quality for a resurgent Partick Thistle (I can't see Ayr coming through the deficit) but momentum is a big thing, so I wouldn't rule Plastic Whistle out.

  8. We`ve now sold 75% of the slots.

We`ll let everyone who has purchased know when we have all 59 numbers sold, along with their number(s) and the relevant week for the Bonus Ball on the National Lottery.

Big thanks to everyone who is supporting our Youth Academy in this.

Please use the link at the top of this thread to purchase a number (£20) if you`d like a chance of winning the original DAFC V Everton painting. 2-1 to the Pars on aggregate over the two legs.

  9. Full details and link to pay

When Dunfermline Athletic were in their halcyon period and consistently appearing in Europe, season after season, much of their talent was home grown.

Kenny Mclachlan therefore came up with the idea of working with renowned football artist, Paul Town, to assist the new Dunfermline Athletic Youth Academy.

You can own this painting by entering a draw based on the National Lottery Bonus Ball. Each entry will be £20. When all 59 slots are taken, each purchaser will receive a random number between 1 and 59. On the next National Lottery draw date the winner will be the person whose allocated number matches the Bonus Ball number. All profits to the DAFC Youth Academy.

  10. Absolutely right. And I think that you can go further, and say that the four games against Falkirk were decisive. Two wins and two draws. 8 points to 2.  If the games had gone the other way round with 2 points to us and 8 to them, that's a 12 point swing.  Things would then be interesting (and not in a good way)
