  4. The painting was won by a Pars supporter in England. We will be shipping the painting down to Catherine Dewar. Many thanks to all those who continue to support the 'Those European Nights' art project. This will enable us to make another payment of £1,000 to support the Youth Academy very shortly -- from 'The friends of Kenny Mclachlan'.

  9. On the day that DAFC announced the issuing of contract extensions to Andrew Tod, Taylor Sutherland and Sam Young, here is something you can do to help the future of DAFC. You can own this painting by entering a draw based on the National Lottery Bonus Ball. Each entry will be £10. When all 59 slots are taken, each purchaser will receive a random number between 1 and 59. On the next National Lottery draw date the winner will be the person whose allocated number matches the Bonus Ball number. All profits to the DAFC Youth Academy. If you would like to help us then follow the link below to pay £10 and have a chance of winning a wonderful painting. https://fifepay.co.uk/checkout/dafcnet-bonusball-dinamozagreb The first leg was at East End Park, and after 55 minutes The Pars were in deep trouble. They were 2-1 down following two Zagreb goals, which outweighed an opener from Pat Delaney. Then inspired by brilliant wing play from Edwards, Dunfermline came storming back. Alex Edwards converted a penalty and then Alex Ferguson got a brace towards the end of the game. 4-2 to Dunfermline Athletic. The return leg in Zagreb was hotly contested in a febrile atmosphere. However, two goals from Zambata won the tie for Zagreb despite Dunfermline having their chances and protesting that one of the Yugoslav goals was blatantly off-side. This was the first season in which ‘Away Goals’ counted double in the event of a tie. The aggregate score was 4-4, and Zagreb went through by virtue of their two goals scored at East End Park.

  14. Prints can now be ordered of the two European ties played in Season 1966/67. These are priced, as with all the ‘European Nights’ series by renowned football artist Paul Town, at £50 for the pair. The limited edition prints are signed by Paul. The prints also contain images of rare memorabilia associated with the games. Season 1966/67 saw Dunfermline Athletic in the European Fairs Cup. The first tie was against F.C. Frigg of Oslo. After just eight minutes, Dunfermline were a goal down to a header from Pettersen. Gradually, Dunfermline worked their way back into the tie, and equalised from a goal from Alex Ferguson after a defensive lapse. The start of the second half in Oslo brought two more goals from Jim Fleming, and that was how it remained. The Glasgow Herald reported that the stand-out players were the Callaghan brothers and Alex Edwards. The 28th of September 1966 saw the return leg at East End Park. Roy Barry had been signed hours before the game from Hearts, and the Scottish Daily Mail reported that he had settled in quietly but effectively at right half. Two fine headers from Pat Delaney put the tie beyond doubt, but at one point the Norwegians had equalised at 1-1 after a goal by Ballangrud. The game ended 3-1 to the Pars with Tom Callaghan also scoring. 6-2 on aggregate. The second tie was against Dinamo Zagreb of Yugoslavia. The first leg was at East End Park, and after 55 minutes The Pars were in deep trouble. They were 2-1 down following two Zagreb goals, which outweighed an opener from Pat Delaney. Then inspired by brilliant wing play from Edwards, Dunfermline came storming back. 16. Terribly sad news as it is announced that Harry Melrose has passed away. One of the greatest of Pars, and some-one that I remember watching (from my earliest games at East End Park)

  19. Not sure Raymie. But I was delighted to see that the boys (who may end up as serious golfers) have an affinity to Dunfermline. The elder one more than held his own with the Jim Leishman banter. Its an unusual name for Fife certainly. There is also Brian Macauley who helps out with the stadium clear-ups and has donated some interesting early Dunfermline memorabilia to the Heritage Trust.
  20. Just a note to thank all the people who either purchased raffle tickets online or on Saturday in the Purvis Suite, where the draw was made at half time. An amazing total of £1145 was raised for the Youth Academy, and this will allow a further payment to be made this week to benefit the Youth Academy. As it happened, the painting was won by a Morton supporter and he immediately donated it to the Macauley family. You may have seen on BBC News a few months ago that Evan and Lucas Macauley won British golf championships for their age groups (Under 6 and Under 8). The family will shortly be holding a fund raiser to send the boys to compete in the World Championships in the States. So the St Patrick`s Painting will be raffled a second time to allow the boys (who have very strong Pars family connections) to play. The Macauley family happened to have a table in the Purvis Suite and Jim Leishman had explained the story.
