  6. Very very sad news. I have sat a few seats along from Roger for the past 20 plus years. Indeed I was chatting to him at the Partick game before Christmas. Great sense of humour, a kindly man and a true Par. I will miss him.

  8. There is now an opportunity to win the Paul Town original painting of Dunfermline Athletic's very first European match. Raffle tickets are only £5 each, and all profits go to support the Dunfermline Athletic Youth Academy. £4,000 has been raised so far. The draw will be at the match against Airdrieonians on Saturday 13 January. To enter, just pay by Stripe below. Raffle ticket numbers will be automatically generated for you. Dunfermline's first European tie was against St Patrick's Athletic of Dublin. The games were played on the 12th and 27th of September 1961. The first leg was played at East End Park. The Irish were said to have 'an unquenchable spirit and boundless energy' against a technically superior Dunfermline side, according to the Scotsman newspaper. It was a Dunfermline team which consisted of Connachan, Fraser and Cunningham, Mailer, Miller and Duffy, McDonald, Smith, Dickson, Peebles and Melrose. Dunfermline were leading 3-1 at half-time but became sloppy and complacent, and were fortunate to see a late goal which brought the first leg to a 4-1 victory. Two weeks later, Jock Stein guided the team to a comprehensive 4-0 victory in Dublin with both Charlie Dickson and George Peebles scoring a brace. Dunfermline's adventures in Europe had begun! https://fifepay.co.uk/checkout/stpatricks-raffle-2023

  10. Ewan Otoo and Matty Todd out is a blow. Hoping that they will be fit for the Rovers game. The injury crisis is still very much with us. Presumably a back three of Fisher, Comrie and Breen? Edwards and O'Halloran as wing backs?

  13. I can completely endorse what Stanza says. This is a tremendous trip for anyone interested in World War One and especially anyone with an interest in the history of Dunfermline Athletic. This year they plan to visit the Thiepval Memorial and there are the names of Davie Izatt and Jimmy Morton of Dunfermline Athletic who were killed together on 1 July 1916. If you have a moment on Saturday, you can see Jimmy Morton`s war medal, death scroll and photograph in uniform in one of the display cases outside the Shop. They were bought by the Heritage Trust last year when offered on eBay. I have been three times and enjoyed each and every trip. Especially notable is the friendship of the people of Contalmaison, who put on a private hog roast lunch for McCrae`s each year. It is also very good value. I think I paid around £600 this year.
