  1. Early days but looks like a solid performance. Im a fan of wingers but perhaps a 4-3-3 with no out and out wingers may pay dividends?
  2. Looks like a 4-3-3 from players. Obviously no out and out wide players. Young midfield. Reasonable experience in attack and defence.
  3. I'm sorry that he's up against us, but glad he's got a contract. Think he could have got Cove but opted to play for old team, managed by his father in law. Understandable. Will he stay full time?
  4. Without I hope betraying any confidences, I would merely say that I think it would be a reasonable assumption that Dorrans will be much more in tune with McPake than either of the two previous managers.
  5. I recall John Potter telling me what an outstanding prospect Lewis Martin was -- and that was nine or so years ago. I do hope that Lewis gets a contract somewhere, even if he plays against us.
  6. I like the way that this is structured: well done to David Cook. Some pretty good prices for the younger support.
  7. Sad news indeed. I met him at EEP once when he was coaching. Had a very light hearted conversation: nice guy.
  8. RP : I'm not aware of any changes in the shirt sponsor.
  9. Like Deutsche Par I am a devotee of the pin-stripe. Hope for something of the 1960's... including the football next season. I am pretty certain that we are still with Joma.
  10. Good to keep it in the family: Fordyce and McCabe are first cousins. I share GG Riva's views on both: good lads. Hope we stuff 'em though.
  11. And there is this rather dull thing called money.... Some of our 'fans' would likely heap abuse on an entire short list of people we can afford.
  12. Feel positive about this. Good luck to him in restructuring a team that really wants to play for the shirt, and indeed play positively. For what it is worth, my hunch is that he'll get on well with David Cook and Thomas Meggle. That will be important. I wonder if Graham Dorrans might stay on as player coach?
  13. In my view his position is untenable.
  14. I'll be supporting Stanza in this. Slightly concerned as he isn't the tallest of men....
  15. Just play a 4 4 2 please. Put Thomas on right so that he can cut in and Lawless on left. Go with Pybus and Polworth in middle. O Hara plus one of Todorov or McCann up front. Breen to partner Ambrose. Give it a right good go. P.s. Partick bound to rest players but we can pray for a draw at Somerset
  16. Leaving aside the dubious morality of his views, the messages to any Rovers fans who disagree with him are 1. It's my club and my property. If you make life difficult I will consider winding the club up. 2. If you think the Goodwillie signing was plain wrong, then find another club to support. 3. The placatory public comments are just a veneer. This is what the owner really thinks. 4. We can get along just fine without a bunch of volunteers, our women's team and our most high profile sponsor. Apart from the bizarrely out of touch morality, it is just poor business to alienate a substantial proportion of your fan base.
  17. Potentially an important test case for football clubs. Airdrie and a director are effectively charged with not taking the case seriously. Will be very interesting once the facts are known.
  18. Feels like Groundhog day to me. Deep frustration, no breaks when it counts, and still one up front. Probably deserved to win: but that is our 14 th draw out of 29 games.
  19. As far as I know there is no such online resource. Since 2014, all the artefacts belong to the Heritage Trust. As do the items in the four cabinets in the foyer by the club shop, including the Norrie McCathie cabinet. There are a lot of good stories around the items, and I am certain that I don't know them all by any means. All we need is some volunteer resource. It would particularly suit people with say a podcast, and I am sure that I could source a camera operator. Perhaps a couple of likely lads talking to some-one from the Heritage Trust in a conversational manner about the items? If you're up for this or integrating it into a podcast in a different manner please pm me to discuss.
  20. I would be delighted to see a 442. I think he'll play Dorrans rather than Chalmers if a 442.
  21. I may have seen more frustrating games but I cant recall them. My wife had to take the dogs out for a walk as I was apparently shouting at the screen. It was a game that we could and should have won. We need two up front for the last quarter; we need both Lawless and Thomas on from the start; id go with Polworth and Pybus in the middle. Let's give it a go.
  22. Some very sensible thoughts above. I'd only add that to the best of my knowledge he has not paid his victim one penny of the money that the Courts awarded --- because of his bankruptcy. Feel free to correct me if this is not right. It was said that that bankruptcy was because of tax debts but the effect was also to clear him of paying the sum awarded in the civil case. If he had any decency he might consider directing some of the lump sum he is about to receive from Raith Rovers to the woman, by way of an ex-gratia payment (the terms of which any lawyer could advise on so as not to prejudice his position) This is highly unlikely. As far as I am concerned he can either hang up his boots now or push off to play for Zenit St Petersburg...
  23. Pitch has taken an awful lot of water over the last 5 days.....
