  1. Thought Ryan Dow played really well. Good to see Craig Wighton score too. Our young home grown talent of Todd, Allan and McCann didn't look out of place either.
  2. It is an interesting feeling: pleased that the Red Card has been rescinded, but irritated that that decision in all probability cost us the game -- think it was headed for 0-0 otherwise. Anyway, Dorrans is available and that is good news.
  3. Nervous as heck. Definitely need to play two up front.
  4. Thanks for the heads up: I'll come along with a bag. But I have to say that in a country as wealthy as this, with a welfare state, something has gone badly wrong when folk are forced to rely on foodbanks. It does not sit well with me.
  5. I might add that Clubs have to provide detailed evidence to the SPFL as to who is ill in the circumstances of a call-off. Would our Chairman, who is on the SPFL Board sanction such a ludicrous idea.? At the time, the Club were looking for a morale boosting win, and it was a considerable blow that the game did not proceed. Its a bad joke, and I am forced to wonder about the motivation behind this from the employee.
  6. Just to be clear, the notion that a game would be cancelled because of the cost of a second bus is laughable. Not true.
  7. I've thought some more about this. Here's a sort of compromise. Ross spoke about the provision of an educational sector within the new training academy. He appeared to be quite enthused about that in particular. Why not think about naming that after him in some way. Ross isn't stupid, he knows the work he's done and whether he likes it or not he's played a huge part in this clubs immediate history and it's future. He's not getting away without him understanding the huge amount of respect the majority of our fans hold for him. This isn't about unwarranted adulation, or lickspittle behaviours, it's the fans and clubs acknowledgement for his efforts. He's a thoroughly decent bloke 👍 Very much what I think Piracy. I can bring this up through official channels, and I''d like to know that I am speaking for the vast majority of supporters. That's a good suggestion that you made there.
  8. I've made a few calls. Don't think this will fly because they want to potentially sell the naming rights of the new training ground: they think there is a reasonable sum to be gained for the Club. The other stumbling block is Ross' understated nature -- probably just not him. I very much agree with the views expressed above, by the way -- i think he has been an outstanding leader for the Club over the past 10 years. Think we should focus on something a bit more modest, which will make him less embarrassed. He does seem quite keen on the NW stand btw.
  9. I do wonder about starting a campaign to get the training ground named McArthur Park. It needs to be called something. It should be ready to open just as Ross is standing down as Chairman. Thoughts?
  10. Dreadful pitch (which will only get worse through the winter as being over played with Queen's Park) and a strong wind meant that neither side looked entirely comfortable on the ball. Nothing really in the game in my opinion, but won by a wonderful shot. Sometimes I think you just have to say 'well played' to the other team and move on. [As I write this, I hear my Dad's voice from the 1960's, and not what I actually said last night when the ball went in].
  11. There are a couple of copies. Silver, but copies....All based at Hampden.
  12. German investors are all good guys. Easy to talk with. Imagine being nine years old and talking to a Bundesliga player, manager and sporting director. Inspirational. Never knew St Pauli were originally green and white: so used to Brown and White of today.
  13. Detailed club statement just issued on training ground
  14. Not at all safe. Should be reported to Drew Main at andrew@dafc.co.uk. Can then be brought up with police.
  15. The bar in all previous Supporters Council meetings has been open. So I think it should be on.
  16. That reminds me: must go for defibrillator training at the golf club... 😁😁😁
  17. Should that not be " an intrusive and objectionable" look into this?"
  18. I certainly hope not because that passion needs to be encouraged and cherished. However obvious health and safety issues will draw the eye of the Police commander and the Safety Officer. When, in 2018, I got the seven perspex silhouettes to represent the seven DAFC players who were killed in WWI (of whom we are aware anyway), I arranged for the seven shapes to be spread round the ground with a person to sit next to each armed with a biography of who that person was and talk to the supporters in the vicinity of each (for example, Davie Izatt was a plumber living in Appin Crescent who was our left back in 1911 when we won the Scottish Qualifying Cup. He was killed on 1 July 1916 with McCrae's Battalion on the first day of the Somme.). When we arrived to put them out [and Piracy was there to help] , the police inspector had decided that these might be weaponised and thrown at rival supporters. I was amazed. So they had to sit in the empty bit section between north-west and north-east stands. Looked fine but I was pretty irritated.
  19. Whilst clutching at straws, I note that: Musonda not on the bench Matthews sent off Varian carted off after 20 minutes Benedictus subbed after an hour with a ham-string.
  20. I'm not sure that I wouldn't have made the Referee man of the match. Of their players, Tiffoney was comfortably their best player. The Commentator thought Richard Foster was good but I thought he was shocking. Hope they keep him at right back for the rest of the season. Commentary from Bob Phlegming, who was badly in need of some Benylin. I'm going to be charitable here and assume that we were drawing them on and trying to counter-attack. It did mean that Thomas and Dow were drawn far too deep however. My positives were solid defence among which I thought Connolly was tremendous; an outstanding save from Owen Fon Williams; Iain Wilson coming on and looking decent and another mature performance from Paul Allan. My negatives were plentiful but I'm not going to depress myself by recounting them. Onwards to a Fife derby with Raith Rovers who had a man sent off in 45 minutes and still managed a draw against Inverness. At least Matthews will be missing from their midfield.
  21. Just to be clear, whilst affiliated to DAFC Ltd, it is an entirely separate undertaking. This gives, perhaps, an opportunity for Dunfermline Athletic to re-launch a senior ladies team under the direct ownership of DAFC Ltd, with considerably more investment. It is clearly a growth area, and should be viewed as on a par (all puns intended) with the men`s game.
  22. Absolutely, and believe me, I am as frustrated as anyone because I know the club has a good story to tell. However (and I know this sounds quaintly old-fashioned) I can't breach confidentiality, but hopefully with the right communication channels we can deal with issues like the Rosyth Juniors perspective which I do think needs to be addressed. I'd only add that for a supporters' council to work properly, then the right questions (hard or otherwise ) need to be put.
