  1. No doubt that the Club needs to up its game on communications and it knows it. Covid knocked the Supporters' Council on the head but it has been under discussion for about a month to make a return. I wouldn't be surprised if an announcement wasn't imminent. Part of a wider structured communications approach I understand. Hopefully that will serve to lay some of the rumours/leaks which are all too prevalent at present, and put others into a proper context.
  2. I am, and I've got the programme to prove it. 😀
  3. I've long accepted that supporting the Pars is a form of madness. Might see you at Arbroath, Piracy....we've got a week in Ballater and my wife is taking her own car. I thought I might take the coastal route....
  4. Grand. Certainly true that a continuation of draws will not get us where we want to be. Who would you appoint in place of Peter Grant?
  5. Sorry: just catching up with this discussion: As a matter of interest, are you saying that I shouldn't have found Saturday's game entertaining? Were you at East End for the game?
  6. I might add Alex Ferguson, Craig Robertson, Scott Thomson, Paddy Gardener, Davie Moyes, Alun Evans. From the distant past Andy Wilson and Bobby Skinner. Then Bent Martin and Scott Wilson to complete my ten.
  7. I go to the football to be entertained. I was entertained yesterday. Now I would love to be 3-0 up at half-time if only to lower my blood pressure -- an important consideration for a man of my advanced years. However, I've learned to accept that there will likely be tension in almost every Pars game. Generally ever since we gave up the 3-at-the-back formation, and played Williams in goal, I have been happier with our performances . Not ecstatic by a long way but happier. Or at least not quite so angry. If we play like we did yesterday, then we may yet turn this season into one of respectability -- whatever that means. However that doesn't mean that we might not get done over next Saturday by Partick who are a classic hot and cold team. But I am just hoping we catch them on off day -- and they have lost four as well as winning five: though their demolition of Hamilton was brutal.
  8. George was a lovely man. It is terribly sad, especially after 57 years of marriage. He had not been well in recent years as many people know, and was in a home, but Marv and her daughters visited him very regularly right up until last week. It is his wonderful smile that I will remember.
  9. Happened to me Secure Par over 50 years ago. Like you I lost it. My right thumb still aches in cold weather but I don't regret it a bit...
  10. Strangely, I understand that when Ross was getting his tyre replaced, he bumped into John Potter. You couldn't make it up....
  11. Funnily enough I popped into a Co-Op in Edinburgh and had a Stephen's bridie (I think) today. Next to our vets, and I had 15 mins to spare. If Piracy is writing, then perhaps he would include my suggestion which is that i'd happily pay twice as much for a Bridie which is rammed with steak, rather than flat as a pancake. Let's call it THE BIG Bridie. Back in the day etc etc...
  12. Still excellent numbers. People will turn out for a winning team.
  13. I agree. Covid has been neutral for many of us, but for some folk it has created considerable financial suffering. The proposed reductions in Universal Credit will hurt some of the weakest and most vulnerable in society. It behoves football clubs to have empathy and be supportive of such folk. I must have a look at the Falkirk figures. The Falkirk Chairman was a business partner of mine, and remains a friend. I can say that he's had a pretty rough ride from some Falkirk fans and if they've managed to boost seasons then I'd like to understand how. On the strange but true front, when I retired, he learnt the Bluebell Polka on the accordion and played it at my party.
  14. We're not 500 season tickets down. We are not very far off last season's total if we are talking paid for seasons. Of course most seasons were bought before the league season started in early August.... It is the cash gates which are responsive to runs of (poor) form.
  15. To the best of my knowledge and belief, the intention ( and it is a long term sustainable approach that is being adopted) is to make the club better and more successful. There is no conspiracy/ Big agenda. The PST board were fully involved in the negotiations to bring the German investment in. Sensibly ( in my view) they decided this was a good thing given all the facts. In my judgement, the club is in good shape off the park. Sadly that is not the case presently on the park. I am certain this latter point is under close review.
  16. Yup -- Zanetti won a debateable free-kick by going sideways across him, and flinging himself to the ground. Then the referee ignored Zanetti's loud cries (as in embarrassing bawling) when he went down just in front of Leon. Leon's grandparents were at my son and daughter in law's wedding. The shirt will be gifted to them at the end of the season.
  17. Delighted to see our sponsored shirt on the park for the first time this season: Leon Jones (Lok On). We know his grandparents -- nice family. He certainly let Zanetti know he was around. Captained Scottish U16 team which beat England. at end of 2013. Hope he gets his chance.
  18. Hoping for a great season for Leon Jones. It happens that my family knows the Jones family, so we've sponsored his shirt. Bright young laddie of undoubted potential.
  19. Small fraction of what Keyser worries about. Budgets are modest and well controlled. Still it's good to worry!
  20. At a crossroad in his career: Covid has done no favours for people of his age. He'll be trying like heck to get himself established. I recall him as being pretty decent from his Thistle spell when 20 or so. Player of month whilst there. Good ball control.
  21. The crucial thing which will determine this league is likely to be loan signings in any event.
  22. Played as a defensive, holding midfielder by QOS, or wide. Think he's more likely to be played further forward by us.
  23. I think Nisbet is perfectly capable of playing Championship/ lower Premiership/ Old Firm football. Absolute snip at £5 million. But I agree that this is utterly wild -- and it's due to the amount of TV money swilling around in England and the hopelessly biased income levels in Scotland (which favour two clubs).
