Chalmers and O'Halleran on for Allan and Summers

    I don't understand, why with these subs we've moved to a 523.

We were in the ascendency by the end of the half, however in particular I'm not sure why we'd change the defensive structure when we'd limited Inverness to nothing from open play, just seems odd.

Calendar player gets there first but follows through on Allen. Looked like a case of playing the ball then the man.

Our players are instructed not to protest to the ref once a decision has been made, so I wouldn't read much into that.

The Inverness player gets to the ball first and Allan comes into him? They both went for the ball, the Inverness player got there first. Looked like Allan either hesitated or was just flat out slow. He's lucky Mehmet bailed him out.

McCann off for Holmes. I'm not at all sure on this shape we've been playing tbh.

So, you're saying 9 points out of 9?

Mibbe aye, just whisper, but we'll then have an Airdrie side at home who have the worst away record in the league and won't like our pitch.

Including the Partick game I think we'll be talking 10 points from 12*

How nice would it be to go to Starks in some decent form with a few boys back?

*If Todd stays fit and we can keep Otoo in centre mid.

We did well to bounce back from League 1 after the clusterf***k of the previous season. I do think however that the winning margin flattered us slightly because some of our play last season was, at best, mediocre. What really gave us momentum was the feelgood factor that was instilled in the team. McPake was in the process of building a squad - and indeed still is. That’s why I say that, at the start of this season (note, not at the present moment) I saw consolidation as a sensible target. Nobody could have anticipated that, two-thirds of the way through, there would be two teams stretching away and five teams within three points battling each other to avoid a relegation playoff place. Hindsight’s a wonderful thing. And, no, with respect I don’t think I look “silly”.

Nobody could have anticipated that in a ten team division, where 4th is the playoffs, and 9th is the relegation playoffs that there wouldn't be a middle ground? It's nothing to do with hindsight, if you're 6th you're only a couple of positions from promotion playoffs, if you're 7th you're a couple of places away from relegation.

Where would be the position where wouldn't be worrying about relegation but also not challenging for promotion?

Look at history, since the promotion playoffs have been introduced, every year the previous years League One winners have finished at least 5th, barring one season. (Last season where Cove Finished tenth, however QP finished 3rd...). There's absolutely no scope for consolidation, if you're not worried about relegation you're challenging for the playoffs.

If we finish lower than 6th or lower we'll be the 2nd worst promoted side since the playoffs were introduced, to make out your level headed for anticipating that is silly.

Totally agree with you, GG. At the start of this season I think it was recognised that this was going to be a challenging one for DAFC due in general to the quality of the opposition. While some were optimistically (IMHO) predicting a play-off place the more level-headed types recognised that consolidation was the name of the game,

Go on, explain to me how in this division we would be safely consolidating without challenging for the playoffs? The only sides not currently worried about relegation are the top four, Ayr are in fifth and only three points of relegation.

To me, trying to make out you're level headed for not expecting to challenge for the playoffs just makes you look a bit silly tbh.

Good news it went well. Was it not a bit cold though? And what was the booze set up? Bottle ands spirits?

They had a few heaters but it was reasonably chilly, wife had wrapped up warm in anticipation of that though and once everyone was up on the tables no one seemed to care apparently. Be handy if they have such events in the summer during the off season.

And aye, bottles, spirits and shots.

  7. While we were busy scudding Partick last night, my wife was in the Norrie concourse at a bingo event. From what she said it was massive success, it was sold out and apparently it's happening again in June. I'm not sure what we would've got for hosting the event, but on a night where EEP would have been empty it can only be viewed as a success.

While things may not be as good as we'd like on the pitch, I like that we're looking at ways of utilising the space. I beleive there's a music event coming up aswell?
