Waco. Madman or Messiah.

Recommended Posts

I'll go for madman regarding David Koresh (not his real name btw ) who probably thought he was the Messiah. On BBC4 just now. The FBI didn't exactly cover themselves in glory either. Something doesn't add up in the final outcome, where the church catches fire resulting in 79 deaths, 22 were children. Koresh put a bullet to his own head. Puts me in mind of the Rev Jim Jones in Guyana or the other insane man from Austria. Latest update on the goings-on featuring some of the survivors (9) in 2 parts, if you interested in those kind of programs.

Im going for madman. No offence intended to anybody who is religious, but religion in all its forms are nonsense.

If there really is a God and a Jesus, why do we have some many different versions of the stories?  If God and Jesus are real, historical facts cant be interpreted - events happened or they didnt.

Why does Jesus' story about being dead for 3 days before rising to "heaven" be generally accepted, but the same people ridicule other religions? This story has been common throughout history, as have many bits of this so called Jesus... which wouldn't have been his name anyway because it's apparently Greek for "teacher" or something.

Part 2 last night was grim viewing. The survivors all said they were sad that they couldn't have perished in the inferno. His followers adamant he died for us. Also that Koresh will return to earth in a different guise. One of the survivors said he saw Koresh pour the petrol to start the blaze. Still say he was a madman.
