Paradox
Aaron Ramsey signs a deal to join Juve in the summer worth a BASIC salary of £400k per week. This will make him the highest earning (based on basic salary only) British player ever. Incredible deal for a guy who cannae get a regular game at Arsenal! Decent player, but nowhere near the £400k bracket IMO.
scottyboy
Football indeed gone mad (for a while now) When you think of past players, who were better than Ramsey and probably were paid a pittance of what he earning. Mad when you think ex - players had to open pubs to survive after football. If they can get it, good luck to them. Wonder what someone like Jack Charlton or Jimmy Johnstone would be earning today? Paradox
Ramseys basic salary is higher than that of Paul Pogba for example. A World Cup winner, and at one time, the World's most expensive player.
Guest The Beer Baron
So stupid. Scottish football needs to be ready to take advantage when this all blows up, instead of following the trends.
Yorkie
Earning more in a week than some earn in a lifetime.
Salvo Montalbano
Juve have saved the €20-30 million they'd have had to fork out on a transfer fee so it makes sense that the basic salary will be higher. It highlights that Arsenal maybe wasn't completely wrong in not offering him a new contract though if that's the sort of money his agent was looking for.
