Update after the first transfer window closes at the end of August:

Staff and Player Changes

2015-11-19_00005.thumb.jpg.458f2bd2cbe25

I wanted to keep Stephen Wright but he had no interest in staying.  Most of the staff brought in are regens with a few familiar names in the mix.  I let Jim Leishman deal with staff in/out.

On a hiding to nothing trying to keep Williamson and right back is a position well covered following the signing of Mike Mampuya.  Calvin Miller has been a phenomenal signing in on loan from Celtic scoring 10 goals in 6 games so far.

Bit of a mixed bag in the cups, into the last 8 of the Challenge Cup while out of the League Cup after getting a doing with Brechin and fell out with a good number of the squad over it.  League started with a 0-0 draw in Brechin before Calvin Miller showed us what he is actually capable of.

League Table

After the opening day draw with Brechin the 3 wins have us sitting 2nd in the table 2 points behind Airdrie.

So I've played on to just after the Airdrie game that was played last week in real life.  My result pattern seem to similar to that of Allan Johnston's

The loss to Cowdenbeath was annoying because we were 2-0 up early on,  Calvin Miller is out injured which is annoying enough but Harry Cardwell who was brought in on loan from Reading is also out.  We also had to play the last match against Airdrie without Aiden McIlduff and MAC who were on international duty.  Joe Cardle had a boot up the arse before the 5-1 win over Peterhead and has responded well.  Keeper Michael Szromnik asked for his loan to be terminated because he couldn't displace Cameron McKay in goal.

Table

Sitting 2 points above Airdrie at top of the pile but it could have and should have been more, the Cowdenbeath and Stenhousemuir defeats extremely disappointing as well as conceding a late equaliser against Forfar.

Update after the January transfer window

Results

2015-11-20_00005.thumb.jpg.690111a6b261d

Can't seem to get any kind of consistency going, Jason Talbot going to sleep in the closing stages of the Cup cost us a win and they gave us a bit of a going over in the replay.

Table

2015-11-20_00006.thumb.jpg.99cffec9b3fb2

Luckily for us neither can our rivals, with Airdrie falling down the table and Cowdenbeath sitting in 2nd 8 points behind with a game in hand.

Transfers In/Out

The aforementioned Talbot has been sold to Tranmere for £2400 which seems to be a popular decision given his performances of late.  Graham Fyfe (left sided midfielder), Ryan Hardie (striker on loan from Rangers) and Lee Hollis (keeper) have been brought in as cover, Chris Kettings has also returned to Crystal Palace after only playing 1 match.

These players have signed PCAs with the teams mentioned.

Promotion meant a decent boost to the wage and transfer budget so the squad has been given a bit of an overhaul.

An unconvincing extra time win in the Challenge Cup against Elgin where we won thanks to a Nicky Devlin fluke before beating Stenhousemuir in the League Cup.  Had a great start in the League with 4 wins and a draw, early days yet but it's nice to have points on the board.  Cup defeat against Hearts was disappointing as I thought that we could have given them more of a game.

September and early October

2015-11-22_00005.thumb.jpg.a173a92764c3b

Scraping a draw against Dumbarton and losing to Livingston were two poor results but the first match in October was a pleasing win against Falkirk and especially pleasing for ex-Falkirk player Eddie Ferns who scored the winner.

Table

After the loss to Livi we dropped to 2nd but the win over Falkirk put us back on top, Marc McNulty has been a good signing thus far.  Next up is Hibs in the Challenge Cup but we have 5 players out for various reasons so it'll be a big ask despite hammering them in the league opener.

Pre-Mid Season Transfer Window

Some poor home results have seen us drop down the table to 3rd but Calvin Andrew seems to be in the mood lately with 8 goals in the last 3 games including hauling us back from 2 nil down against Raith.  Signed a couple of foreign players in on free transfers to use up rest of wage budget and the Argentinian Luis Alfageme has created a decent number of goals already.

January transfer window is likely to see more players leave than come in tbh.

Results and Table at end of February

2015-11-24_00001.thumb.jpg.c631c6f004a43

Went on a run of 7 matches without winning including a Scottish Cup defeat to Hibs so I arranged some friendlies against junior and non-league sides to try and boost confidence, seemed to work as we beat Hibs in the league match (leading to the sacking of Alan Stubbs).  The improved results meant that we stay in third, Falkirk has confirmed themselves a a play-off spot at worst.  A couple of wins in the next couple of games will meant the promotion play-offs for us also.

Players In/Out

2015-11-24_00004.thumb.jpg.062c201ec5ff8

Calvin Miller's loan expired and due to his injury issues I didn't extend it and brought Islam Feruz in instead, and due to me being unimpressed with the keepers I brought in a French and an Italian to fight it out for number 1 jersey.  Sam Robertson is a young player brought in by the Head of Youth Development.  Willie Dyer had been a poor signing so I bit Wrexham's hand off for the 6 grand.  Neuquecar and Durojaiye weren't regulars so around 30K for the pair of them isn't bad.

I was offered an interview with Hibs which I attended, and signs seem to suggest I may be offered the position.  Hibs have been doing poorly but they have far more resources than The Pars do.  The thing is The Pars are a couple of wins away from making the play-offs.  Do I stay with The Pars for the time being or take a chance with The Hibees and prepare them for an assault at the title next season?  I could ask for a delay from Hibs until the end of the season to see if I can lead The Pars to the play-offs...

Never mind, Graham Alexander got the job instead.

One defeat in 6 wasn't a bad return but unfortunately Falkirk won the league.

We finished 6 points behind them so we play the winners of the QoS v Dundee play-off match with the winner of that playing the team who finishes 9th in Premiership, which could be any one of the bottom six who are Hearts, Dundee United, Hamilton, Inverness, Ross County or St.Johnstone.

Defeated Queen of the South on penalties in the first match.  Now we are up against Ross County in the Final.  I've been having issues with Twitch but I'm going to try streaming both legs on there once again.

I'm also GordieBoy80 on Twitch if anyone wants to (try and) follow the action.  The broadcast will be up within the next 5 to 10 minutes.
