  1. It's Seville Oranges this time Raymie 😂
  2. The Celtic fans were awarded the FIFA Fair Play Award that year for their behaviour in Seville. Last time a team called Rangers played and won a final in Spain they got banned for 2 years for rioting so I share your pessimism.
  3. I can see why you disagree with me Digs, my wording implies that only Motherwell benefitted from Brockville being a pig sty. No idea why I did that because I had a feeling Falkirk were denied promotion more than once. I looked into it and Aberdeen finished bottom in 1999-2000, then Motherwell were bottom in 2002-03.
  4. The last few seasons I've often wondered what if Norrie was managing us now.
  5. What if the BoD had left well alone and didn't appoint Munro?
  6. I believe Motherwell were the beneficiaries of Brockville not being up to Premier League standard.
  7. Thank you GG, you're a gent. Naturally we're all concerned about our situation, we've all got our own theories about how things will pan out, and when our manager makes baffling team selections like he did at the weekend it's hard not to have the fear.
  8. GG, I think you have quoted me out of context. In my first contribution to this thread I acknowledged that a swing in the goal difference to favour Rovers' is unlikely. However, it remains a fact that Rovers can still qualify so it's McCall's duty to ensure qualification first and foremost. You mentioned a great escape earlier, well it wouldn't be the first time Thistle have conceded 10 goals in the last game of the season against a team fighting for survival. 😧 That day Airdrie beat us I was in Leicester at a cousin's 60th birthday party, coincidentally Leicester were still in the Championship and that day they qualified for their play offs too. The Leicester guests were celebrating and the Fife contingent were despondent. The Leicester fans couldn't understand we why were so miserable, after all we were in the play offs!!
  9. Ian McCall may well have an affinity with Ayr but it didn't stop him leaving when Partick knocked on his door. In fact when he took the job on he said he had unfinished business at Firhill so that's one reason why I think he'll go all out for the win. Another reason is that a Partick win or draw doesn't condemn Ayr to League 1 as our result could go Ayr's way and beyond that they have the play offs. I'm not worried about Partick's starting 11 but I am about ours. As you and so many others have pointed out, Yogi's more than capable of picking a team to throw 3 points away. I'll join you in your prayers even though my letter to Santa Claus did us bugger all good.
  10. There seems to be a general assumption being made that Partick have 4th place sewn up and will therefore rest players. I agree it will take some swing on goal difference for the Rovers to get 4th but one way of making that a possibility would be if both Thistle and Killie put out under strength teams. If Thistle and Rovers were to tie on goal difference Rovers would go up as they would then have scored more. I'd like to think McCall will want to make absolutely certain of 4th place and go all out for the win by playing his strongest 11.
  11. I wholeheartedly agree with you GG, the whole interview sounds like Donald Trump on steroids. I don't believe for one minute that their sponsorship income has improved and as for " If I could help her, I would, just as I’d try to help him " well he definitely could help her if he chose to - even if it was just keeping his puss shut.
  12. Next season I'd like to see every Championship club wear an all pink strip with a rape charity as their shirt sponsor in one of their fixtures against the Rovers, preferably in a televised match. The shirts could then be auctioned off and the proceeds given either to Goodwillie's victim or a rape charity. If any opponents outwith the Championship in the various cup competitions want to take part them so much the better.
  13. As stated in the title, the UK have placed sanctions on Abramovich. He can't sell Chelsea, only season ticket holders allowed to attend home games, merchandise sales banned, new signings banned and contract renewals banned. https://www.theguardian.com/football/2022/mar/10/roman-abramovich-unable-to-sell-chelsea-after-uk-freezes-assets EDITED by SanguinePar to make link clickable: https://www.theguardian.com/football/2022/mar/10/roman-abramovich-unable-to-sell-chelsea-after-uk-freezes-assets
  14. I'd completely forgotten that he's still Celtic's player RM, thanks for correcting me.
  15. I'm pleased we're extending deals for our younger talent and hope they continue to progress. With any luck, once the academy is up and running we won't see such a high turnover of players at the end of every season. Maybe I'm getting too long in the tooth, maybe I was spoiled with the Leishman era, but I find it hard to connect with the team these days when you know a large number of the players will be gone once the campaign is done and dusted.
