  1. But then he came back against Ayr, on a grass pitch, and got injured again - this time after 20 minutes. Hopefully, he is fully recovered, ready to play and we have sufficient medical expertise left at the club to assess whether an artificial surface presents any additional risk.
  2. I wasn't referencing you being out to get him - unless you're one of the ones in the Norrie around me.
  3. I think if you ask a group of neutrals who is to blame for the 2nd goal - you could even let them pick 2 players - very, very few would be mentioning the goalkeeper. Off the top of my head, I can think of 4 bad mistakes that Mehmet has made this season which have cost us goals and another couple that he's got away with - one at Partick recently - so, clearly, he's not been fantastic. However, I've seen folk in the Norrie lose their sh!t at him when we've lost goals where he's clearly not been culpable. I just find it really tiresome when someone has made up their mind about a player and then looks for anything they can to confirm their opinion.
  4. First goal is especially crucial. I don't think we've ever lost a game with McPake in charge when we've taken any kind of lead. There looked to be a bit of confidence about the side yesterday for the first hour (last half hour was the polar opposite, mind) and if we score first - and Kane is back - I don't think we would lose. Also, the league is mad at the moment. The overall league positions don't mean much when it comes to predicting the outcome of any game - so the team shouldn't go there fearing the worst.
  5. Sorry, but having watched the goals back, if you're blaming Mehmet for either of those two goals, you will be blaming him for every goal we concede from now on - which I realise some will do anyway. The 2nd goal is a looping cross, which is falling right on the head of MWH. He's 12 yards out, to the right of the goal and in a fair amount of space. I don't think there are many keepers that come rushing out their goal to try and catch or punch it.
  6. Aye, Kane's availability could be the difference between staying up and going down this season.
  7. So 4 out of a minimum of 9? But he's worse than most of the other keepers...
  8. He's been at fault for a few goals this season, but not half as many as some want to make out. He's also made some great saves. He's definitely a better shot stopper than he is at dealing with cross-balls. All in all then, he is similar to many other keepers in the Championship.
  9. What was your issue with Mehmet tonight?
  10. Indeed, if there's a wider issue with them taking legal control at the moment, I'd be interested to hear it. Re the loss, if they've 'overspent' to bring in a paid CEO, a commercial manager, pay off Hughes, bring in McPake & Co to get us out of League 1 and cover costs of getting the training ground project moving, I've no issue - given that they seem to be covering it with their own money (I am aware that the training ground will be an asset but I'd imagine some of the initial costs would be classed as 'expenditure'). If they continue to bridge the gap with their own money in the next couple of years, I would be OK with that too. The caveat being that you would want to see progress on the pitch, off the pitch and a narrowing of the gap between inflow and outgoings.
  11. Probably the SLO would be the first port of call.
  12. And it still wouldn't have netted £100k nevermind £1m. However, before we get all misty eyed about the past, it's worth remembering that we lost over £700k in the Championship to year end May 2019. It then resulted in the directors coming to the conclusion that they couldn't fund the operation and sought external investment. I'd be more concerned if we were still in League 1, owed money to banks or financial institutions and/or GMBH had said they had no more cash. The balance sheet looks OK and they're obviously making progress with the training facility. The one issue I have is whether that convertible loan stock can never be called in. And, if not, when will it be converted to equity - indeed, why was it structured like that in the first place.
  13. You obviously can't go about losing £1m each season. However, if we assume that the £1m in convertible loan stock will be swapped for equity (and it was made clear at the time that this was the only course of action available), then the balance sheet doesn't look unhealthy.
  14. That doesn't quite stack up when looking at the current assets vs the current liabilities.
  15. The accounts are to the end of May 2023. Nisbet signed for Millwall in June 2023. The £325k grant was announced at the end of January 2024.
  16. Falkirk lost £1.2m the season before last.
  17. That does seem an odd statement to commit to print.
  18. My point being, they don't factor into these figures.
  19. Those accounts are made up to 31st May 2023. I think Nisbet signed for Millwall in June 2023.
  20. Aye, it tracks the start of data collection in football and explores how it has evolved over time. Sounds quite dry but there are some interesting individuals and stories across the time period, plus various examples of clubs who have adopted a data based approach and how it has worked for them.
  21. I'm reading Rory Smith's book on the subject at the moment. It's quite interesting - although I'm sure you'll have read it already.
  22. How does their methodology differ from someone like Opta? Genuine question - I don't know one way or the other. It was just the only one I could find - ideally to try and see if Inverness' XG was lower in the 2nd half than the 1st last night, whilst compartmentalising the penalty separately...
  23. It would hint that we could do with a goalscorer.
  24. Interestingly, we have the 3rd highest xG in the league at home and 2nd best away from home.
  25. Partick are on a bad run but were still much better than us for the first 35 minutes. Our equaliser was out of nowhere - and thanks to them having a dodgy keeper. We picked up after that, but were under pressure again at the start of the 2nd half and got another goal completely out of the blue (great goal mind you). It was only really after their equaliser was ruled out and Benjamin scored where we began to look the better side. If Jakubiak had buried that chance at the end of the first half last night, we could well have seen a more confident 2nd half performance. In summary, goals seem quite important...
