  1. I don’t see what people think they gain by showing disrespect at this point.
Looked at objectively, the death of the Queen yesterday is the biggest step forward to the abolition of of the monarchy that has ever occurred. Keep the heid, bury the childishness, bide your time.

I’ve been hearing the OF to England story my whole life,  it’s never once come close

Agree with this. I suspect the stories about the attractiveness and worth of the OF to the EPL mainly originate north of the border.

Since KB is mentioned in the OP my Raith Rovers supporting mate told me a story about him smashing the door down of a flat and assaulting the residents. He has a conviction for this apparently. Interesting choice for the captain of a community club if the above is true.

I take it that you favour the death penalty and think that the penal system should be solely for punishment and not reform (like the man in your avatar)?

The actual offence, that took place 11 years ago,  made for grim reading in terms of his behaviour on the night of the assault.

The last I read, he had re-united with his girlfriend (who was present at the time of the offence and subject to verbal abuse) and bough a flat with her.

The guy who he had assaulted had no desire to proceed with the prosecution and put it down to a one off drunken mistake.

There would be concern if there were repeats in his behaviour, but it seems not.

  4. I watched the Keith Richards episode of the Stones documentaries on the BBC last night.

He mentioned how intros were important to him. Gimme Shelter was the one he picked out. They had a load of decent intros.

Alternative Ulster is a good one.

    London Calling - The Clash

    Geno - Dexys

Won’t Get Fooled Again - The Who

Ah fair enough, going by the result, I thought RC must have fielded a number of fringe players. Credit to Buckie for doing so well. It would be like a cup final for them, playing their Highland neighbours. They'd have been well up for it.

Highland neighbours? I am guessing that you didn’t teach geography GG? 😄

Buckie will have their tails up after last Saturday. The road to cup upsets is littered with 3rd tier Scottish teams underestimating Highland League opponents. A couple of early goals would be good.

  6. When I read that Dundee United almost got relegated in the late 70s, it made me think how fine the margins can be. Would he have survived had they been relegated? Not many managers survive taking a club into a relegation battle these days after starting the season.

Maybe just as well Scotland didn't qualify for WC22. Not a lot of fun to watch them being royally gubbed by teams on another level from ROI.

The if Euro 21 had not already laid that fact bare (the England game was an outstanding performance coupled with good luck),  the Ukraine result (plus Denmark away) certainly did.

Scotland have moved from being a third rate side to being a bottom end second rate side. That is an improvement, but Clarke is just doing about as well as could be expected with the group of players that he has.

There are two possibilities for further improvement  - the squad improves when some better class players appear to augment the pool. Alternatively, the current squad somehow pull off freak result after freak result against better opposition and don’t screw up against other teams.

I am not too bothered about the Irish result. These things happen.

“ improving “. jeez , no width, no creativity lack of pace , no service to ( third rate) forwards

please explain how we are improving

Qualifying for one championship, getting to the play offs of another after spending years with not a sniff of anything.

Is Klopp their best ever Manager if they win tonight?

England's most successful club in Europe and surely their greatest club.

Live on YouTube by the way.

It is amazing how Bob Paisley gets forgotten about. Klopp will be within touching distance of his three European cups. Still a few league championships and a UEFA cup to go.

We're often fed the narrative that the fans of Sellick and Sevco are two cheeks of the same @rse. It was recently pointed out that Celtic fans were given a Fair Play award by UEFA when they played Porto in the 2003 EL final. Apparently, their behaviour was relatively harmless, even though copious amounts of alcohol were consumed. Some of those who follow the Ibrox club cannot make similar claims. Think back to their two previous finals in Manchester and Barcelona, where gratuitous violence and wanton destruction of property was the norm.

Eta. Not saying Celtic have no idiot fans because clearly they do, but they're just not at the level of the idiots who follow Rangers.

If you narrow it down to hooliganism, clearly Rangers record going back 50 years is there to see (although they will have disappointed many smug finger pointers last night).

There are many other measures however. Two cheeks of the same @rse, both clubs and fans.

  11. I really hope that they do behave. Firstly, for the sake of the people of Seville.

Secondly, to puncture the smug self righteousness of the Celtic support, who in so many ways, are no better than Rangers.

I am more optimistic than I was about Manchester with regards behaviour,  but not convinced. Good behaviour at least would signal, in a very small way, that their support may be finally moving out of the dark ages.
