Your frustration is understandable, but the logic is flawed, in my humble one. You knew the price of the ST and decided to buy it. As a loyal fan, it helps the club bring in much needed revenue during the close season. The fact that some other folk may now be able to purchase a ticket for one game at a bargain price is no skin off your nose, is it?

Some years ago, my wife bought a nice outfit, to wear to a family wedding. A few weeks later, the shop put on a summer sale. She ignored my advice not to go in and check if the outfit was included and came out with smoke coming out of her ears. The outfit was on sale at 50% off. 😃

She couldn't understand the fact that I was neither up nor down about it.

Did you try out the parable of the vineyard workers on her to try and help her understand?

Goodwillie is an absolute scumbag who should be hunted everywhere he goes, but this is virtue signalling nonsense after the fact so as to save their own face. If they were that bothered by this why was nothing said for the past 5 years, and I include the women's team in that. In doing so, IMO all they have done is highlight how badly they handled this previously not giving two hoots about his past. Now, because others have rightly taken a stand, they are trying to retrospectively save face. It's an utter embarrassment.

I agree with most of that.

Could it be that the women’s team feel empowered to make a stand now after witnessing what happened at Raith?

I`m not in the slightest bit defending Goodwillie for his reprehensible behaviour but aren`t a lot of people jumping on a bandwagon now?

He played for Clyde for 4/5 seasons and was their captain and top goalscorer and other than some protests when the club signed him in 2017, we hadn`t heard a cheep. I`m convinced that if Raith hadn`t signed him, he`d still be playing and scoring for Clyde in blissful anonymity.

The only bandwagon I am seeing lately is that of “aye, but wee Nippy didnae say a word when he signed for Clyde” (curiously enough, mainly from Rangers fans - are you bridging the divide here GG?)

As a women, becoming aware of the issue for the first time, Sturgeon’s response was understandable.

As an FM, probably ill advised.

Many probably only became aware of it for the first time due to the aborted move to Raith.

Inevitable, given the difference in scale of the club's, their relative support levels and media profiles and of course Rovers' celebrity fans.

    This. Fairly obvious.

  5. It is fairly obvious why it will not attract the same attention as his Raith move. Had he even went to Morton or Ayr (for example) he may have actually got away with it - although the clubs would have been in chaos as supporters protested.

He went to the club with a high profile female sponsor and it galvanised a campaign that spread quickly outside football.

An SNP councillor did resign from the board at Clyde when he signed originally but seemingly there was no groundswell of protest. Why would that gain media attention?

It is down to the Clyde support really. If they want him out there is plenty publicity and backing waiting for them. The question is, do they actually object?

And there you have it! An openly SNP/Independence supporting admin rallying around their great leader to make absurd allegations against poster to deflect and protect Nicholiar Sturgeon.

To be fair, I haven’t seen him object to criticism of Sturgeon on this site - of which there was no shortage during the Omicron measures. It is the use of “wee nippy” he has taken issue with.

None of it is acceptable.  However, the term "wee Nippy" has been used a lot more than the others particularly by yourself.

Going forward, no matter your opinion on them using derogatory names or terms for any political figures will result in an official warning.

    That seems a bit excessive.

Wee Nippy is clearly misogynistic, but it says a lot more about the people that use it than it does about Sturgeon - in my opinion.

It is not hate speech per se,  but often it is the mark of an immature cretin when used (just look on Twitter) although that is only my opinion.

    Others feel differently.

It was McGlynn but the BoD should have told him it was out of the question. Owner John Sim lives in the Far East and gave it his blessing. Maybe out of touch, but his fellow directors should have put him straight. Unbelievable that they chose to ignore Val McDermid's warning that she'd withdraw her sponsorship.

The bewildering course of action by the directors is the thing that stands out, but I had (maybe the wrong) impression that McGlynn, apart from the criticism for defending the signing, seems to have avoided criticism for getting the whole sordid affair started in the first place.

And the money lost in sponsorship deals etc.................it could amount to a pretty penny. I doubt Val will be lured back unless there is a clear out in the board room. McGlynn remains ominously silent as well

Would McGlynn not have been behind the attempt to sign him in the first place?

Unfortunately I noticed some misandrist comments on Twitter aimed at Ambrose. Really disappointing to see that stuff from fellow Dunfermline fans. If that was a male supporter aiming such comments at a female player they’d rightly be shot down for it.

I am glad that you have raised this issue.

I am getting sick of going to the football knowing that with the increase in female fans, there has been an increase of eyes upon me, mentally undressing me and viewing me as little more than a sex object. Probably.

    Thank you brother.

  11. Gordon Brown has now also condemned the signing.

Even the stadium announcer has gone.

It is unbelievable that they are doubling down.

If in any good has come from it, it is witnessing the apparent unanimity (or almost) in the condemnation of the signing.

Yeah Effe Reid, had a mobile van that did the rounds in High Valleyfield, never did sell fish, but stank of it!

I don’t know what I am more relieved about. The fact that I wasn’t eating when I read your post or that @Boston Red Sox quickly clarified the situation regarding fish.
