El Patrón
Some might say him turning down the 147 'as it was only £10k' was selfish and disgraceful etc as most people would bite your hand up for that kind of money. Maybe they are right? I think if he's got the skills to be able to pick and choose as and when he goes for a maximum 147 then he can do what he wants. However once again, he has gotten more publicity for the game of snooker and will probably now attract more people into watching it. The only times snooker ever makes the news outside the Crucibal is when Ronnie does something 'controversial'. My personal favourite was his press conference in China a few years back. The man is a looney but you can't help but love him.
Vinnie
To be fair, there is nothing to say that he would have gotten 147 had he tried to play for it. £10k may not be a lot of money to him personally? Perhaps hes making a statement that 147's deserve slightly more recognition than the money on offer at each tournament?
Turps
That was his point Vinnie. Why didn't he just go for the 147 and hand it to charity if he got it?
Vinnie
Has the money disappeared out of snooker? £2000 pot for a 147 doesn't sound like much, almost is sponsors don't see the calue anymore. Apart from Ronnie, Id be hard pressed to name another current star player.

scottyboy
Has the sport got many characters now like they used to have? I thought Alex Higgins was mesmerising when he was playing. Lost interest when the entertainers were gone. Bring back big Bill Werbeniuk.
Vinnie
Lack of entertainers means lack of interest means lack of sponsorship and lack of prize funds?Ronnie may be the last entertainer?
sabino
It's easy to increase the payouts for 147s.Take it out of the prize pot. There are way more 147s nowadays compared to the days we hanker back to.
