  1. Ayr ahead as well, worst possible start.
  2. Ironic that this is the one fixture I wouldn’t have minded McCann staying in. O’Hara in his brief stint against Killie showed enough spark to deserve a shot from the start for me though so here’s hoping it works out.
  3. Nearing must win territory these days.
  4. Didn’t mean it like that, apols my bad wording, just meant that he has a wife and child who will also be impacted by this and shouldn’t be forgotten about. The child in particular who will have to grow up learning what his father has done in the past and the inevitable tough time etc he/she will be subject to in future. Will there be plenty of other job opportunities for him? In any application process he’ll have to reveal it and can’t see many companies taking him on. He shouldn’t be kicking a ball, but he has been allowed to do so for years now, think that’s part of the problem. Why was it not ok years ago for him to play back then and this only come about because Raith put an offer in. If Raith hadn’t, Goodwillie would still be playing for years to come and there would be no one even thinking about it.
  5. Do have to remember that Goodwillie does I believe have a wife and child to provide for.
  6. Isn’t it a bit rich for folk at Clyde to take this stance now rather than at the time Goodwillie had signed for them the first time around. To GG’s point, if Raith hadn’t signed him nothing would’ve changed, the Clyde ladies team would still be around etc. I don’t for one minute believe that there are people at the club that weren’t aware of his past. Not defending him in the slightest for what he’s done in the past and his lack of remorse over the situation. Putting that aside for a sec, the guy had been playing for Clyde with little fuss in recent years, keeping his head down and trying to get on with his life and that’s now been taken away from him because another club made a move. Yes he shouldn’t have been playing football in the first place (but that ship sailed a while back), naivety perhaps that Goodwillie agreed to the move not expecting the uproar that it’s caused, and plain stupidity from Raith. All that being said, he’s probably not bothered if he’s getting his increased wage still.
  7. First half was pretty poor, I don’t think we do McCann any favours sticking him up top on his own, he can’t really do anything of note when he does win the ball with naff all around him. Second half we played better, more so when Thomas and O’Hara came on but can’t recall having a shot on target. Point was a fair result, thought Efe was MoM for me, played much better and unlucky not to score. We need to start creating more chances, we won’t stay up if we can’t score goals and we’re not giving ourselves the best opportunity to do so. I think Morton are safe now and it’s a shootout between us Ayr and QOTS.
  8. Think that’s Hamilton safe now. I fancy Morton to get something from Arbroath and Ayr will fancy their chances at home to QOTS. A win tomorrow is a must but even then I’m doubtful it’s going to be enough in the long run to spur us on to secure 8th. It’s a battle to avoid bottom now. It’s not inconceivable to believe QOTS win at Ayr and we lose tomorrow and we’re bottom. Sooner this season ends the better.
  9. Been trying to remain optimistic given our slight improvement in performances but that result tonight has really put us right in the muck and the table looks rotten. I can’t see us getting out of the relegation playoff spot at the moment and to be honest only 3pts ahead of QOTS who don’t have that bad a run in it’s going to be difficult enough staying off bottom. Saturday is huge.
  10. I would like to see us try Todorov and O’Hara again now that we seem to have resolved our midfield challenges and look a bit more threatening with Lawless and hopefully when Thomas is fit. Dont think they got a fair chance earlier in the season as there weren’t much opportunities for them, although Todorov did miss a few point blank headers that I recall, but is proven at this level and was teetering on an international call up. Can’t fault McCanns work ethic but just think we need more, he needs to be scoring goals. Moffat was similar with his scoring but felt he contributed more than McCann us currently in other departments.
  11. Horrendous stewarding there as well, the boy just gave up and let him run into the players. The fan could have had some sort of weapon on him for all he knew and could’ve been much worse. Really don’t get how fans can get so riled up and struggle to accept it’s because of the booze. There was a father who left his kid in the hotel room so he can go celebrate the Middlesbrough win against Man Utd. What goes through some peoples heads man.
  12. Just started and it’s promising, definitely got the right actor this time rather than bloody Tom Cruise.
  13. If anyone has read the majority of the books like me then may be interested that first series is out on Amazon Prime now, think it will be based on Killing Floor.
  14. I’ll rename my kid Yogi if we get into the playoffs. Nae chance man!
  15. Excellent signing for this level. Must admit though, it is frustrating thinking what could’ve been this season had we got it right at the start. All these good players are coming in to try avoid relegation when it could’ve been pushing for promotion. Hoping they all kick on, impress and enjoy their time enough to want to give us a go next season.
  16. Why is the FM now getting involved and why has she not kicked up a fuss whilst he was at Clyde? Not sure of the timings and proceedings may not have fully concluded at that point but once they did and he was deemed a rapist I would assume she’d be saying the same things as she is now…or did she and I’m out of touch on this?
  17. Raith 2-0 up, clearly not impacted the players it seems. Good result for us.
  18. I’m assuming their game isn’t on the telly tonight? Raith are now in a position where I can’t see anything but a collapse, wouldn’t surprise me if QOTS pick up the points tonight which isn’t ideal for us selfishly. There is literally no coming back from this with the current board, they’ve been considering signing him for months, and have decided to ignore all the concerns and bash it through and even pay a fee to Clyde and make him the biggest earner in the squad, if they were wanting to miff off absolutely everyone at the club, they’ve done a bloody superb job and nailed it. Their community values have gone in the bin for a Hail Mary at getting into the Premier League next season. They can scrap his contract but horse has bolted, the alternative is to ride the wave and hope this dies down. Either way they are absolutely screwed.
  19. I just can’t see Goodwillie playing for the club, how Raith didn’t expect such a reaction is beyond me. The biggest own goal I think I’ve ever seen scored for absolutely nothing. Whatever Raith decide to do now, the damage has been done and it will take a long time to recover from. If Raith were to reverse, how does it work contractually, assuming he’ll need to be paid in full or terminate and return to Clyde who will be happy to have him back? It’s not Goodwillie’s fault they signed him, the club knew fine well his background and decided to continue with it so not sure what the next steps are going to be here.
  20. I’m surprised Goodwillie hadn’t been signed up by someone earlier than now if I’m honest. It always felt inevitable that a bigger club than Clyde would come and look at him. Sadly for a minority what he can potentially add to a club with his football is enough to put aside what he’s done outside of football which is a disgusting way to think. Do feel sorry for Raith fans, looking at the table now and really struggling to see how they can come to a conclusion that this is a move worth making. They are in the last playoff position, can’t see them catching Kilmarnock and Inverness, even Arbroath if they keep up this superhuman effort of theirs. Thistle have three games in hand on them as well which should kick them into 5th. To bring in Goodwillie, alienate a lot of your fan base, likely lose your sponsorship for what is a very slim chance of making anything of this season is mind blowing. Imagine being a father taking your daughter to one of the games and explaining who he is. He shouldn’t be playing football full stop.
  21. Strange one this, probably let go due to Chalmers coming in and him surplus to requirements? Letting him leave and join one of our relegation rivals though is a risky move.
  22. I’m assuming this man can’t have his mind turned and for him to stay on as chairman long term? The Grant appointment ofcourse was poor but not solely down to him and whilst Grant was in charge and with Yogi in the last few interviews he is being called out for his work ethic and love for the club. Feels like a big own goal we could score here because of a minority of fans hurling unnecessary abuse at the man and his family. What he may lack at times in football acumen it’ll be much harder getting a replacement in who’s as dedicated to the club and has the finger on the pulse with the finances.
  23. Watched the game on the site I reckon Al k is referring to and the quality unfortunately wasn’t the best to pass much of a comment on. It was just good to see us so assured, two good goals, a clean sheet. More impressive for me was how we handled the start of the second half, so many times we’ve let teams back in it in the past but we kept the door firmly shut. Trying not to make it more than what it is, three points in the bag, consistency is key so will be hoping we get the win at Ayr next. It does feel like there is a positive vibe and we’re slowly turning things around so hopefully that continues.
  24. Can’t help but feel there’s more to this story than we currently know. I’m not defending Watsons actions with us, it was completely unprofessional and him leaving was the right call. Pre this episode thought he came across as the ultimate professional, he talked well, performed on the park reasonably well, sure he was our captain if I recall. He doesn’t seem the player to just up sticks and decide to go on a jolly, for a player to even consider doing that there was surely something really rotting in the club at the time and does evidence how bad PG lost it. Like I say not defending him but that course of action stemmed from something considerably bad happening within the club I would think.
  25. I’m sure homesick was partly the reason for Gaspuitis…but was it the real reason…I’m not so sure. The boy will have been sold an exciting move by Skerla, nice stadium, fantastic fans, a sleeping giant, gunning for promotion etc. In his short time here he’s had to deal with the pandemic, a portion of fans arguably at their worst and toxic during the Peter Grant era and his tenure in general with the squad he assembled and how bad we’ve been. Gaspuitis wasn’t regularly starting either throughout when he is an internationalist who has had experience defending against some of the best players in the world. He’ll have accepted it just wasn’t meant to be, career is short, move on. It’s not worth the hassle, I wouldn’t want to spend time playing here either having all that against you when your family was elsewhere. If we were performing better and challenging it would’ve been different. I just hope he looks back with some fond memories rather than regret and wish him all the best.
