  1. Petrie not applying for the initial opportunity I wouldn’t say was a negative, worked out to be the wise decision for him I reckon in the end. It shows his loyalty to Montrose as well in that he was in the middle of doing a job for them. Im not reading too much into all this bank chat, that’s all hearsay. As for Dick Campbell, there’s something that just doesn’t feel right with him being our man in charge although must admit if he applied again it would be difficult not to give him the job after what he’s done with Arbroath this season, unless it’s politics and petty squabbling/poor relationships with board members. Allan Johnson, well that would put a cat amongst the pigeons, certainly has the credentials to get us back up. Doubt the majority of fans will see it that way though.
  2. The new venture with youth didn’t work and essentially stopped last season when we started bringing in experience. I can’t see the youth venture working anyway to be honest. Whoever takes the role is going to fail if the fans don’t back him and aren’t patient enough to give him time, not a few months before calling for their head but we need to give the right kind of manager a few years and accept that we may not get immediate success that we crave…short term pain, long term gain and all that.
  3. I’m not keen on Ian Murray, don’t think he’s really done that well to be honest. Kevin Thomson, has he done enough, hard not to do well with Kelty Hearts to be honest, wouldn’t be ecstatic but content if he was to take it. No to McGhee and Rice. I have to stick with my heart on this one and go Petrie. I think this is the perfect time for him to join if he ever wanted the gig. He won’t have the pressure in his first season of putting together a serious title challenge in the Championship but instead a promotion push in League One, a league which he has a lot of experience in. If you consider what he’s been able to do with Montrose, think what the potential is with a bigger budget with us. He’ll also have the opportunity to completely shape the squad how he wants it. In addition, he is a Pars great, I’m not one for hiring just because they are ex pars, but Petrie will 100% get the support he needs from the fans and will bring us all together which is much needed. This and his current credentials….. Come back home son.
  4. Does look photoshopped to me, he stands out a lot more in the photo than anything else, like someone’s just cut and paste him on. Either way, don’t really care, he was a good player but isn’t irreplaceable.
  5. Could it not be that Hughes has been grilling them for underperforming and laying down the law? Some players can’t hack criticism and don’t respond well to it even if it’s warranted. To call someone a bully is quite an accusation, not that I’m doubting you Keyser, just the players use of the word and whether it’s the right one.
  6. Fair point DA-go, I just think regardless of the tactics Yogi used in that Queens Park match the players should’ve performed much better than they did in a game of such magnitude. With all due respect to Queens Park, they were a mid table League One team, we couldn’t string passes together and get the bear essentials right at times against them. Queens Park just wanted it so much more. Dorrans should’ve been better, Ambrose sent off, he didn’t really look that fussed. Polworth was absolutely honking. It’s a shame when you have seasoned professionals like them putting in performances like that when you’ve got players like young Todd who was giving it his all and will be truly devastated at getting relegated, he’s one that’s on the up in his career than a player that’s close to the end and I felt that showed during the last few games of the season. It will be interesting to see which players the club let go. Wighton, Todorov, O’Hara as a front three in League One you’d think would have more than enough quality. Pybus, Lawless and Dow in midfield could work although the latter two the form needs to pick up, would need one or two more in that position, defensively will need a lot of work to replace Donaldson and Ambrose, whether we stick with Edwards or not, are we going to utilise Comrie at all. We’ll need a goalkeeper as well.
  7. I’m ok with that statement, like Grant says fans want movement now and are becoming impatient. The time for swift action was during the season, post season they should allow themselves a little more time to make sure they get this right, granted though not ages as time to prepare for next season is as important. I’m not completely sold on Meggle getting more involved, whether that is with Hughes in charge or someone else, has that kind of model ever been used that’s really worked? Managers tend to like to have full control do they not, wonder if this would put any potential candidates off assuming Hughes does go. The paragraph about the manner in which we were relegated is likely a number of things, from the tactics deployed and the general approach to what were must win games and the other players attitudes and want to do well during them, I got the feeling during the Queens Park game that some of the players just weren’t ***ed. So I’m not jumping to the conclusion that this means Hughes is leaving, it could well be Meggle getting involved is a condition of him remaining in the job. You’d think if you were coming out with that paragraph the natural next line would’ve been ‘as a result we’ve taken the difficult decision to relieve John Hughes from his duties’ or something to that effect..but they didn’t. We’ll find out in the next day or two I’m sure.
  8. I can equally foresee the turmoil 10 games in and we’re not even in the playoff positions..
  9. I’d be surprised if Yogi left, if you consider the patience the board had and what it took for Grants contract to be terminated I can see them giving Yogi more time.
  10. One of my best away days was at Annan, timed it perfectly with the weather, nice club bar, can’t remember the result like but sure we won.
  11. Why go for Scott Brown who has no managerial experience? Kevin Thomson, harder not to do well with Kelty Hearts and don’t think Whittaker would be of any interest. I genuinely don’t think they are any lesser a risk than keeping Yogi. If you’re getting a new manager in, Jim McIntyre or Stewart Petrie, preferably the latter as I think being in League One now will benefit Petrie and give him time to settle but fans need to get behind him and be patient if ofcourse he wants the gig and he was offered. This isn’t a quick fix and we need to throw away any concept of being a ‘big club’, next season is going to be tough, straight back up will be the aim but arguably the promotion playoffs wouldn’t be a bad outcome either. We won’t run away with it that’s for sure. We can’t throw the toys out the pram after a couple of losses next season. All that being said though, I think the board will keep Hughes.
  12. Can’t fire a manager because the fans have made their feelings known, we’ll be changing every month man.
  13. Excuse the ignorance in advance but what reason would the Germans have in wanting us relegated?
  14. Whether we can afford to maintain it is one thing, if we downgraded, the extra disposable income could go into something more beneficial. A smaller stadium at full capacity is better than a 12,000 half empty and the extra money can go into the academy, signing players, something that could actually help improve us.
  15. As we have a CEO who will be taking a salary (I imagine a pretty decent one with his CV) whilst we’re in League One I think SecurePars point is valid. Ofcourse not expecting him to work for free and grateful for all the volunteering but every penny is a prisoner so his role should be under close scrutiny.
  16. I think you’d struggle to find many people who weren’t sceptical about the investment, struggle to see how they can make a serious return on their money in Scottish football never mind a struggling Championship (now League One) team. If they aren’t here to make money, then is it a hobby, that’s not what we want either. The development at Rosyth sounded promising, a real positive step, will help attract new signings and great for the community but I believe Rosyth were ditched from being able to use it which I found disappointing and a contradictory move. I’m far from convinced in going the youth route, I am not close at all in understanding the youth set-up but struggle to see that there is enough talent in Scotland for us to capitalise on. Defer to folk like Digs who has more insight into it than I ever will. Selling EEP probably isn’t a bad idea, sure we’ve been trying to live with it on the premise we’ll be back in the Premier League..but it’s not happening anytime soon and it’s far too costly to maintain, been falling to bits in recent times and now as a League One club it’s really going to hinder us.
  17. I reckon we’d have been much better off still with Crawford.
  18. Really depends on how you approach a season ticket, with the fan in mind then buying a season ticket is a no brainer if it’s affordable, club get the money up front to set us right for the season ahead (excluding this season ofcourse). If you view it as a customer, then there’s more benefit just PATG, like others say you miss a couple of games there’s no value, especially when you could’ve also got into one of the games for a fiver so you’ve actually overpaid for that game. Then there’s little ‘known’ benefit to having a season ticket, they don’t actively promote the additional benefits like they did years ago. You used to get discounts off of restaurants, get into the reserve games for a couple of quid/free, Fife flyer discounted games, was actually not bad. For a couple of years I got my season ticket ‘for free’ as I bought cars from Macklin Motors who used to put up the cost, not sure if they still do that.. I wish it was as simple as replacing the manager but I don’t think it is, there is something fundamentally wrong at the club just now.
  19. Add to that the game for a fiver.
  20. I tell you what the marketing people have some job on their hands now trying to encourage season ticket sales.
  21. Absolutely gutted but hats off to Queens Park, quite frankly they totally deserved it, they wanted it so more than we did. Thomas must’ve signed a pre-contract somewhere to not have played at all in the two legs. We were fortunate not to be one down very early on if it weren’t for a good save from the GK. We were growing into it latter end of the first half and genuinely thought if we carried that momentum into the second half we’d do it. However, think everyone who was at the game would’ve seen Queens Park winning it 5-10mins into the second half and then when Murray came on… I’ve been pretty defensive over Hughes but that was so bad, it honestly looked like we hadn’t played as a team before and playing one up front at home against Queens Park is criminal. I’ll need to see the Ambrose incident again, father came with me today and instantly said red but I thought it was a yellow and firmly put the blame on Polworth for such carelessness with the ball, he was absolutely dreadful today. Either way I don’t think the red really made a difference we were that bad. What hurts the most is that it looked like half our players genuinely didn’t care. I expected to be raging tonight but that wasn’t my football club I watched today. The board have absolutely fundamentally screwed this season up and I’ve never felt so disconnected with the club. There is something rotting at our club and it needs a proper gut out, top to bottom clear all the hangers on and start a fresh. The German custodians are going to need to start being ruthless if they are to make anything of their investment.
  22. Comfortable 3-0 victory, a rested Dom Thomas starting will make a difference, on a good pitch think Lawless will come to form. If we really put the pressure on them early and not give them time on the ball I think they’ll struggle so we need to get out the traps fast, none of this tippy tappy nonsense. With any luck we can afford to take some boys off early for a rest…ok maybe that’s pushing it.
  23. I can’t see anything other than a comfortable Pars win at home, good pitch, we have better players, have to trust that they’ll do the job as long as we don’t show QP too much respect.
  24. Very much the same boat, tend to always inadvertently miss one or two whether that be due to going abroad or other events. Usually just buy a season ticket to avoid the minor inconvenience of always having to get tickets and faff about for seats. Used to get really good discounts, were allowed in I’m sure to the Fife Flyers games as well at a reduced rate. Similar to Digs we saved money buying our front door with SRJ but again it was because the guy specifically asked if I was a Dunfermline ST holder. It wasn’t through me being aware.
  25. A lot of complaining over on .net over the performance, can’t disagree but not unexpected, this is where we are unfortunately. In the playoffs, a draw away is a good result when you have the second leg at home. I get how frustrating it must have been being there and watching that but the booing and chanting throughout whilst understandable, isn’t going to really help matters.
