  1. Depends how you look at it, pros and cons based on personal view. Pros: Clubs can manage players time, more of an opportunity to influence a game. Helps alleviate some concerns over covid by being able to name more on the bench. Good opportunity for the younger players, possibly a chance for more game time and experience that may benefit the game. Cons: Whilst all should be done in the traditional three sub interval, that many subs for both teams will disrupt the game, flatten it I’d say as a larger proportion of players need to get up to speed with the game. Does 5 subs make that much of a difference - I doubt most teams have a lot of quality sitting on the bench, be interesting to see how many managers actually utilise this. I know the pros and cons contradict but like I say depends how you view it. For me, I would’ve just stuck to the three, time for introducing this was probably much earlier in the season. Changing the rules mid-season as well I’m not a fan of, although I think this rule probably benefits us more than hinders and gives us a little bit more of an edge in this relegation battle…
  2. I thought it was a good point in the end. Started off slow as we tend to do every game at the moment and rarely looked a threat in the first half. ICT were very much on the front foot and looked more likely of the two to score but I thought defensively we were pretty comfortable and were handling it reasonably well. The goal conceded ofcourse was poor, thought it started with a mistake by Allan initially which led to the cross and it was a good finish. Second half we were much better, how much of it was because ICT weren’t as offensively minded than in the first half I don’t know but credit where it’s due. I thought Dorrans and Cole coming on turned the game in our favour. Cole in particular, not everything he tried pulled off but he was putting some decent attempts to our strikers pushing the ball forward which we lacked before. The penalty I admit at the time I thought may have been harsh, will need to see it again but glad we got it and Lawless did well to put it away. We were then going for it but to be honest I don’t think we were ever going to score in open play today. We need the midfield to step up more and support McCann up front if he’s going to continue to lead the line, thought they were too far apart at times. Pybus I thought played very well today. It’s a good point, but still a little apprehensive about how we’re going to play away from home in what are critical games in QOTS and Ayr.
  3. Thread gone quite a bit off topic. Back into Efe though, hoping we get him over the line sooner rather than later, if ofcourse he is interested in coming and St Johnstone willing to let him go. I can understand how it’s difficult to bring people in, getting the right experience to come play in a relegation battle isn’t going to be top of many players wishlist.
  4. Dorrans is the best player on our books, don’t think many can argue with that. Throughout the season, whenever we’ve played well and got points, most of the time its because Dorrans has had a great game. Think the criticism of him has been pretty harsh this season. Yes he’s made mistakes but that’s inevitable when we’ve been relying on him so much in a team where there is a real lack of experience through the core. If anything we as a club have let him down as we haven’t been able to build a decent team around him.
  5. Efe should be a good signing for this level, plenty of experience.
  6. We were slow starting, Hamilton could, possibly should’ve been ahead but after the first 5mins we grew into it and had the much better of chances, could easily have had another before half time. It just shows what happens when you get balls in the box, we’ve looked much more threatening.
  7. I am astonished at this, he was our most clinical striker and had we sorted our midfield out in this transfer window he would have been the best person to have up front.
  8. Yes was a shame what happened to Ryan, he loved the club but a minority of fans turned on him and it was that which pushed him away. Thought he had a fair bit of potential, a player that threw caution to the wind and just ran down the wing taking players on and the only thing that really let him down was his deliveries which could’ve easily been rectified. His defending at times was a little suspect but again at his age was room for improvement. Hadn’t realised he is at Falkirk now.
  9. We shouldn’t forget that players develop with good coaching and to be honest I’m not sure we’ve even got that at the moment. If we don’t have that right, these boys don’t have a chance.
  10. Trying not to be too downbeat about it but agree with Kelty. Allan and Todd I just can’t see ever being considered good enough to play for us, unless we are relegated and even then I’d be hoping they were backups. McCann is a funny one, I wouldn’t have him up top on his own but I would like to hang onto him as he has potential, whether we can unlock it we’ll see.
  11. Personally think this would be a fantastic signing and just what we need at the back. I would go and try and get one further if we can as none of our defence has been performing. That is providing we have sufficient funds available to recruit the midfield still which has to be a priority.
  12. It’s a common misconception that those that are unvaccinated are simply ‘anti-vax’ but it’s not true so you shouldn’t feel like you have to state you’re not anti vax my friend. Don't get me wrong you’ll still have the nutters and their 5G etc theories although one of their theories was the passport chip that they got ridiculed for but sure I read somewhere it was being developed. Think there are a lot of people now fed up and feel like they’ve been taken for a ride. They were told they’d get freedoms back, they aren’t that much better off than I am. They were told vaccines prevent transmission which was over-egged. Benefits of wearing masks has always been debated given the type most use. Government flouting rules all whilst encouraging everyone to take their boosters and that is what is going to classify as fully vaccinated now. Omicron was made initially to be of major concern yet looks like it’s essentially as bad as a cold. They are beginning to lose people now which gives me hope there is light at the end of the tunnel with this. As for the football, why not just lift the restrictions now, why a Monday ‘because it’s the start of a week’ if they can make the decision now it should be effective immediately and for those that can adapt quickly to cater then they have the ability to go for it. It’s easy to say let’s start on a Monday but even just a day of restrictions can have significant impacts. There shouldn’t be restrictions this Saturday but believe some clubs are challenging at the moment.
  13. I’ve not really got the business acumen to comment on the specifics, my underlying thought was why not just do it now, if they plan to do it in the future anyway regardless. The investment is all well and good, the stuff going on in Rosyth is all well and good, but all pointless if we continue to fail to get it right on game day. Winning is all it takes to get supporters on board, we’re relatively simple creatures.
  14. I’m fed up with it all, rules being switched on and off like a tap when they make no sense when other parts of the UK are doing different things and some of the stuff they come out with just sounds made up. They just need to be seen to be doing something and treating it seriously, this is getting more political by the day rather than on public health. Its all gone on too long now, my grandfathers health has deteriorated so much in these last two years and it’s hard not to blame it on all of this. Been stuck in the house hardly moving over the fear put on him over this virus and the uncertainty as to what he can and can’t do. All these lockdowns and restrictions have been put in place to protect us from covid but it is doing more harm than they think and care to acknowledge. As for the Hamilton game, I bloody forgot and was sold out by the time I looked this afternoon. Might be a blessing in disguise I suppose as I can switch a stream off easily enough! Moving to Monday would be a smart idea but wouldn’t happen, Accies hardly bring any fans anyway, we wouldn’t split the gate and the 500 probably benefits them more. Nice to see the restrictions just being lifted though, just in time for the Celtic Hibs game, funny that, farcical.
  15. This is Scottish football, the ball spends more time in the air than the ground, punt it up there and even if opposition wins the header got a good chance with a team of players putting some effort it would fall to us anyway. Passing from the back is never going to work I fully agree.
  16. OFW Martin, Donaldson, Breen, Comrie MacDonald Dorrans, Cole, Lawless Wighton, O’Hara That is the best I can come up with right now and that’s what worries me. I’ve went Cole for no other reason than I think it’s worth a punt over Pybus, Todd and Allan and hoping he can create for us a little more but can persist with an out of form Dow if we have no one else, Dorrans co-ordinating further back a little. MacDonald for his deliveries praying he can get them on point. O’Hara for the pace, Wighton for the finishing, not fussed about him running about, but a show of effort at times would be nice. If I’d had the purse strings I’d be taking another stab at getting defenders again (yes I know…) but of decent enough calibre and a couple midfield players and another winger. You can pick a load of holes out of that lineup, which I think illustrates my point and how bad a position we’re in at the moment.
  17. I just think we overthink it, this is second tier Scottish football, just put out your best players and let them play and we’ll do better than what we are now. Asking players to play from the back when you’re playing Greenock Morton man.
  18. Being a manager and being a coach is totally different.
  19. Well I’m hoping it would be replacing one of the others. JP whilst a defensive coach was more than that, the way he worked with the kids and how they respected him was excellent and he was great for just general morale across the team.
  20. If there was any chance of bringing John Potter back as coach I’d jump on it.
  21. I’m a firm believer that the midfield should be the strongest part of your team, the core, help the defence, support in attack which is why I’m astonished at the players we have available to choose in that position. Teams just walk through us without breaking a sweat. Fans give Dorrans a hard time as we expect more but he’s not a miracle worker, he can’t do it on his own and when you put that much pressure on one player it works against you. I should add, never been happy with the defence either and ironically, was very happy with the attackers, we just happen to use them to warm the bench.
  22. It just feels like a big slap in the face this season if I can speak openly. I remember at the start, push for promotion was the aim so get on board and buy your season tickets. You look at the teams this season in the league and you genuinely think as well this could be our best shot in a while. All the money and contributions we’ve given as fans to the club, think we have a right to be miffed off at how the money has been spent and the way this season has gone. This game was lost before a ball was kicked looking at that lineup. COVID or not, this is unacceptable, to be in a position where we are fielding a team like this. Allan, Todd, McCann should be nowhere near the lineup, especially when we’re in a relegation fight, Morton have players who are street wise and will run over them. This transfer window is absolutely critical, we don’t get it right it won’t be long until we start thinking about how to survive in League One. Make no mistake, this team at the moment is a mid table League One side, and that’s me being generous.
  23. To think the objective this season was to win the league.
  24. Sticking with my Morton win prediction after seeing that. We badly need midfield players.
