I hope the club gives transparent feedback on this, eg money raised from "further donations" has paid for X.
Agreed - my wife is a fundraiser, and she says that being able to show concrete examples of stuff that Got Done because of donations is a great way to encourage more.

Never mind the Club World Cup, there's talk (again) of taking EPL games abroad, either through a Game 39 setup or just taking a league match and playing it elsewhere - NYC, Qatar whatever.
Horrible.

I think implication of match fixing might go abit far,
I don't think anyone was implying that, were they?
The issue as far as I can see it is the Boring Milner account not just being a fun series of tweets but actually being run/owned by a company working for bookies, and also pushing links to bookies without disclosing the link between them. Seems pretty unethical.
The Rovers guy being involved just adds a bit of extra interest for us, of course.
-
TLDR - some "fun" accounts like Boring James Milner have been directing fans to betting sites, and are actually owned/run by Fanwave Digital, a business working for Paddy Power/Betfair, which is jointly owned by 32-year-old Scottish entrepreneur Ruaridh Kilgour, who is a director and co-owner of Raith Rovers.
"Kilgour, a lifelong Raith Rovers fan, has said on X that he entered into discussions about investing in the club in February 2023. In April that year, as the investment was being negotiated, @andyrobsontips posted on X celebrating a winning bet on Raith to lose against Dundee.
"None of the accounts associated with Fanwave Digital have posted any betting tips about Raith since he became a director."
Interesting.

his reply to the question on "have you heard of a high press"
Someone asked him that? FFS, pretty rude question to ask a professional manager IMO.

is there a feeling of distance between many of the core support and the club?
Can only speak for myself, but I definitely feel that way and have for a while, even during 22/23 when we were romping to the league title.

It's not a bad way to operate in theory, if you've got Dundee United down do you spend every spare penny you have knowing they've got a much larger turnover, and as well as that are willing to overspend? Or do you spend a decent amount but maybe keep a bit back because next year the league gets weaker? It's not saying you're not trying every year, just that some years you realise you have a better chance.
Agreed, but 'roll the dice' just seems like a phrase loaded with connotations of it being now or never. Maybe it's just me :-)

Aye there wasn't allot said, nothing bad tbf but nothing that's burning a hole in my head.
I asked a question regarding this post by Ian Hunter on LinkedIn
For anyone wanting a link it can be seen here -
I perhaps didn't word it well but I was interested to see what "rolling the dice" would look like, and if it's determined by other teams in the Championship (which is fair), then next year is surely a great opportunity?
I wasn't proposing for us to start throwing silly money around, just interested what rolling the dice infers.
That's a weird thing for him to have said - does it imply that we will only really have one decent shot at it so we need to pick our moment to even try? Or that when they think the moment is right they'll splash the cash to maximise the opportunity?
Strange.

Teams taking part:
Dunfermline
Livingston
Falkirk
Morton
Ayr
Queens Park
1 of ICT/Hamilton/Alloa/Montrose
2 or 3 of Rovers/Partick/Airdrie
1 or 0 of Ross County/St Johnstone
Let's hope that this time we have a fully equipped squad, no injuries in preseason, the right formation, the right ambition, and a better home strip ;-)

Good news, hope all is ok going forward.

15 quid sounds very reasonable, with bands and the atmosphere of other folk drinking and watching the game together.
No wanting ti sound a dick but I'll be there in Germany with match tickets , but I would certainly go to the East End event if I wasn't going.
Depends on drinks pricing IMO. If they take the p*ss with high pint prices it'll be disappointing. Can probably expect some markup compares to pubs but hopefully not too much.

Best wishes to Deniz, hope he's ok.
This season can f*** right off.

KRH is a winger. Play him there
150%
He was the most exciting player last year, he made things happen regularly when he was given an run in the team, but he needs to be on the wing, with a fullback behind him. It seems so obvious, but it doesn't happen

Cheers @Grant - doesn't seem to address the question I asked the club about weather contingency, but at least we know the size - sort of - 28 sq m... Assuming 16:9, that would mean roughly 7m wide by 4m tall, so a diagonal of about 8m (or about 26ft for those of you watching in black and white).

Benjamin, holmes, fagon-walcott.
I think it's harsh to consider Benjamin a failure of a signing, he's barely played, and in one of the instances where he did he scored a vital goal (at Firhill)
Holmes, no argument, I don't think anyone can dispute that it hasn't worked out for him here.

Unfortunately we’ve got enough signed up who aren’t good enough. If we can’t move them on we’ll just be in same position fighting relegation next season I fear
Thing is, the squad we have got us where we are right now, despite being too thin to start with and absolutely decimated with injuries.
That same squad, with a bit more luck in that regard (surely it can't be that bad again!), would have picked us up at least 3 or 4 more points and probably more than that.
I'm not saying we don't need to make changes, and add depth, I've been saying that since this time last year in fact, but I think Allan is starting to show promise, and I wouldn't be looking to move him on yet (last year, I probably would have been).

^ Agree. To push on to the next level we need to try get better and not sure Allan has been that great tbh, just a steady player nothing more
I've never been that impressed with him, but he's shown something recently, with the goal at Arbroath and the cross for Bene's goal yesterday. I'd hang onto him a bit longer and see how he does this year.
I also wouldn't be sad to see Jak stay, although we still need a goalscorer. He's got a lot of creativity in him I think.

Really disappointed in the players’ attitude today. Timewasting at home when drawing is really not what we should be doing
That was how I felt last week, but I had less of a problem with it today, once it got to 90+ minutes.
Last week we still had something to try and achieve, with Airdrie getting hammered. This week it was just about not losing.
I wasn't too happy with how we approached the second half, but once it was almost over I don't mind them just running down the clock and getting this miserable season over with.

I'd really like to see Kane and Jak as a 2 in a 442. Jak played the central role well against Utd, feel like he's wasted out wide.
100% this.

If you require over 18 year old staff then I’m sure the staff working can text their pals and they could come in to help…..
Seriously? Are those pals interested? Are they competent? Are they trained as bar staff? And are the original staff being paid to help the club with its hospitality recruitment?

So Charlie D’s has been going most of the season and last game so no staff etc…. Well done Mr Cook…he could have made this happen easily getting extra staff in but we all know he doesn’t want this🤷
Easily? I'm not so sure. There's a glut of vacancies just now, has been since the height of Covid.
And no, we don't "all know" Cook doesn't want this. Got any basis for that?

Torn on this one - glad Airdrie lost, but I feel like they were more likely to beat Rovers. Ah well.
