  1. On the Heritage Trust website there is a tab "Photo Gallery" and then a list of albums, one of which is "Dunfermline Athletic Tangible Heritage". This link should take you there: https://daht.org.uk/gallery.php?CAT=Dunfermline+Athletic+Tangible+Heritage It's a series of individual images (untitled) of the items the Heritage Trust took over from the football club in 2015 or thereabouts, used in drawing up the legal transfer document. BUT (and it is a big "But") the album does NOT include the items acquired by the Heritage Trust since 2015, many of which are now in the Boardroom or elsewhere in the stadium. And it's not a very user-friendly or informative list. So TRBFC's suggestion of a video or new compilation of what is on display, ideally with stories attached, is an excellent one and I hope it comes to fruition.
  2. Further information about tonight's activities (and more) is now on the DAFC website. https://dafc.co.uk/story.php?t=Centre_for_Access_to_Football&ID=13681
  3. The half-time show put together by Jordan Burt and his ParsTV team is really excellent, so don't miss it. Even if you're watching the match on BBC, switch over to ParsTV if you can to see cracking interviews with Owen Miller, Pamela Robson of Disability Sports Fife and DAFC's Disability Access Officer Graham Ross, as well as highlighting DAFC's commitment to disabled fans.
  4. There's been quite a bit of interest in this auction, as well as some tasty bids. It shows how much Pars fans value their heritage, and are also willing to help DADSC. Everyone who has bid has been notified whether or not they are on the Top Ten leaderboard - if you have sent in a bid and not heard back then please get in touch again. Thanks to everyone so far - still time to get a bid in (minimum amount £15). Auction closes at 5pm on Sunday.
  5. You can bid, be knocked out and come back in as often as you want. As long as you have a bid in the Top Ten at 5pm on Sunday you will get a print. Hope that helps, sorry if it wasn't clear.
  6. A few years ago the celebrated football artist Paul Town painted this scene from the 1968 Cup Final, with Pat Gardner scoring for The Pars. Numbered prints were then produced, and some of them were individually signed by several members of the 1968 Dunfermline team. Each print measures 42cm x 30cm and would make a great addition to your collection of Pars memorabilia, as well as helping your fellow-DAFC fans. Dunfermline Athletic Disabled Supporters’ Club (DADSC) has 10 of these signed prints, and we are holding a silent auction of them to help provide access to the 1st Floor at EEP for people who use a wheelchair or have mobility problems. The auction rules are as follows: • The auction will close on Sunday 20 March at 5pm • There is a reserve price of £15 on each individual print • All bids must be submitted before the closing time to John Simpson at jasimpson123@yahoo.co.uk • Bidders will be notified individually if their bid makes it into the top 10 or subsequently drops out • Progress in the bidding will be reported on this thread (and on other social media), but the amount of any individual bid will NOT be published during or after the auction. · Bidders should NOT disclose their own bids before the auction is concluded.
  7. There is a meeting at 7pm this evening (31 January) of Dunfermline Athletic Disabled Supporters Club. We will be using Zoom and DADSC members have been sent the link.Non-members are welcome to attend and take part, so if you want to do so please let me know by 6pm this evening and you will be sent the link and agenda.
  8. Last few days for you to enter this (free) draw that might win you £1000 of John Lewis vouchers for yourself on Christmas Day. (DADSC would also win £10,000, which would be nice!) Thanks to all who have done so already. Keep entering every day for more chances to win. Just go to this link, click the gingerbread man and you'll be entered into the draw. https://www.easyfundraising.org.uk/advent-calendar If you haven't already registered with easyfundraising you'll be invited to do so when you click the gingerbread man - click the "Support a good cause" green button, and enter "Dunfermline Athletic Disabled Supporters' Club". Alternatively you can do so via this direct link for DADSC: https://www.easyfundraising.org.uk/causes/dadsc/
  9. Well done to Piracy for starting this thread. Let's hope the eventual choice is something fitting, as Ross deserves that.
  10. Even if you don't win the daily draw, every day that you enter (completely free) gives you an extra chance to win £1000 of John Lewis vouchers on Christmas Day. So you've nothing to lose by entering.
  11. Dunfermline Athletic Disabled Supporters’ Club (DADSC) would welcome the help of all Pars fans and their families – it won’t cost you anything and you could win £1000 for yourself! We’re looking for Pars fans to use our collective power to maximise DADSC’s chances of success in a daily draw for £250 run by Easyfundraising - it’s all free to enter, and every entry increases DADSC’s chances. Not only that, every entry goes into a Christmas Day draw where the winning good cause collects £10,000 AND whoever nominated it gets £1000 to spend in John Lewis! Just go to this link and click on the window with the jumping gingerbread man! https://www.easyfundraising.org.uk/advent-calendar/ If you haven`t already registered with Easyfundraising to support DADSC you can do so when you click the window. It’s worth doing that anyway, as you can then support DADSC at no cost to yourself when you buy goods or services online. Get into the habit of doing this each day until Christmas – you’ll get free extra entries by visiting the retailer’s site for that day or by broadcasting the message on social media to your friends and family. Realistically the chance of DADSC winning is pretty low, but we won't win it if we're not in it. So please build an entry for DADSC into your daily routine - you just might be the lucky one who wins some money for DADSC and also wins £1000 for yourself! DADSC is dependent on (and grateful for) the support of Pars fans. Any money we receive goes into our fund for improving the accessibility of the 1st Floor lounges at EEP.
  12. I remember watching the West Germany-Austria farce, there was no attempt by either team to disguise what they were doing. It was disgraceful and Algeria have every right to feel hard done by - they had already beaten West Germany and Chile, but lost to Austria. All three teams finished with 4 points and Algeria lost out on Goal difference In their defence, is it any different morally from a situation where both teams settle for a draw in the last match of a season, if the one point each will save both clubs from relegation but a defeat for either would mean relegation? I don't know if there is any match like that where there has been suspicion similar to the West Germany-Austria match. Going way back, there were mutterings in the 1954 World Cup about the West German manager resting nearly all his best players and losing 8-3 to Hungary in a group stage match, so that they could defeat Turkey in their final match and still progress without showing their hand to Hungary. Eventually West Germany reached the final and (playing their best players) defeated Hungary's Golden Team 3-2. Even then there was doubt about one of the West German goals and about a disallowed last minute equaliser for Hungary - there was an English referee and a Welsh linesman! There's also the possibility (unproven and legal at the time anyway) that the West German players were given stimulants used in WW2 to help troops keep fighting when exhausted!
  13. For the record, I didn't say that. However I did say GRAEME Smith saved 3 pens ...
  14. Playing devil's advocate, it could also be that if the tickets for an event all sell out in 15 minutes then perhaps the chosen venue is too small for the demand! (Anyway, I got mine at 9.05! 😀)
  15. What Dave said. There is huge potential for good causes and charities like DADSC to get easy revenue from all the online purchases that are made by people favourable to the cause. I looked at my own stats and over the last few years my online spending has generated over £300 for the PST and DADSC, at no cost to myself. I'm not saying that to blow my own trumpet, but just imagine if 1000 Pars fans had done the same! So while I'm grateful to those who ARE supporting DADSC through Easyfundraising and Amazon Smile, I'm enormously frustrated by the vast majority of Pars fans who don't. Fair enough if they are helping some other good cause through their online spending (other worthy causes are available!) but otherwise they are just handing back to Amazon and other companies the free money that could benefit the Pars. If anyone would like to sign up to use the Easyfundraising or Amazon Smile portals and help DADSC when they shop online, just click on the links below. It's dead easy, it costs you nothing and if you don't like them you don't need to use them. Any questions or problems, just ask. Easyfundraising Amazon Smile
  16. At the AGM last week of Dunfermline Athletic Disabled Supporters' Club (DADSC), the members approved the Trustees' Report and Financial Statement for the financial year ending 31 March 2021. These two documents have now been submitted to the Office of the Scottish Charity Regulator, and can be read HERE on the DADSC website. Anyone who is interested in the activities of DADSC, or who might consider becoming a member (£5 pa) should contact secretary@dadsc.fife.net or visit the DADSC website. Membership is not limited to those with a disability.
  17. It is - behind a locked door there's actually a little bit of the old dressing room wall, still with some hooks on it if if I remember! (Maybe It could be made into a museum feature behind a glass window!)
  18. The AGM of Dunfermline Athletic Disabled Supporters` Club (DADSC) will take place this evening on Zoom, starting at 7pm. The joining instructions have been sent to all members. If you are not a member of DADSC but are interested in attending this evening you are welcome to do so. Please contact secretary@dadsc.fife.net no later than 6pm and you will be sent the joining instructions, agenda and relevant documents.
  19. The important thing for any company, government, football club or any other organisation is to control the narrative affecting its stakeholders and at the moment, for whatever reason, DAFC is just not doing that and seems to be reacting to events rather than controlling them. That may be unfair, as I expect there are attempts being made to turn this around. However, at the moment there are too many different stories doing the rounds, some true, some partly true, some untrue through genuine confusion and some untrue through what might be malice. Some people know more than others (inevitable in any organisation), and some people are more indiscreet than others (again inevitable.) Perhaps this wouldn't matter so much if the results on the pitch were better, but when results are poor then the absence of a clear narrative from the club allows supporters to concoct their own narrative from what they themselves know or have heard from other supporters (who have probably got similar gaps in knowledge). The outcome is that supporters focus on stuff that doesn't benefit the club, and whatever "good news" story the club might have to tell is lost, or even worse looked on with scepticism. Like TRBFC, my understanding is that the DAFC Fussball guys are very aware of the need to re-build (and improve on) the communication channels that existed pre-Covid such as the Supporters Council etc, and I'm sure we'll soon see the first steps on this path. I hope they manage to paint in more detail their vision for the future of DAFC and how the club will get there, as I believe there is a genuine "good news" story there that supporters can buy into. One problem they might face is the short-term thinking that pervades most of Scottish football - supporters are notoriously impatient and long-term thinking doesn't often extend much beyond next Saturday. The new owners seem to want to lay good foundations for a secure long-term future, which is fine, but they will need to keep the plates spinning on a weekly basis as well, so the narrative they have to set and explain is how they are going to achieve that. Mike Tyson said that "Everyone has a plan until they get punched in the mouth" and the club's Plan A will not have been that the Pars would be propping up the league after the first round of fixtures, so as supporters we need to be reassured that there is a Plan B that will deal with that short-term situation, without prejudicing the longer-term strategy. That's the narrative that we should be talking about.
  20. Ronnie Glavin didn't score in the final (Alex Rae, Bobbie Lawrie, Denis McQuade and Jimmy Bone did.) However, Glavin did play an important part as his tackle on Jimmy Johnstone after 20 minutes meant Jinky went off injured (mind you, Thistle were 2 up by that time!) Glavin and Jimmy Bone both went on to play for Celtic. Alan Rough, John Hansen, Alec Forsyth, Ronnie Glavin and Jimmy Bone all played for Scotland. It was some team, put together by manager Davie McParland. I lived across the road from Firhill at that time and was a season ticket holder for Thistle - I went to every match in that League Cup run except the final!!!!
  21. This Saturday is the 50th anniversary of perhaps the biggest Cup Final shock in Scottish football history, when Thistle beat Celtic 4-1 to win the League Cup - and it wasn't a fluke result! 1971 League Cup Final I think Thistle might be planning something pre-match to commemorate the event - they are definitely going to be playing in the 1971 colours of yellow shirt and red shorts. Maybe they'll just play the 1971 team against the Pars (Rough; Hansen, Forsyth; Glavin, Campbell, Strachan; McQuade, Coulston, Bone, Rae, Lawrie. Sub: Gibson) Could be a close game ....
  22. I came across this article in the New York Times (!) that explains the current system. https://www.nytimes.com/2021/08/19/sports/soccer/scotland-football-brexit.html Maybe GJS93 or someone else can say if it's completely accurate, but it highlights quite starkly the problems Scottish clubs are facing, and it's only going to get worse unless something different is put in place.
  23. Dunfermline Athletic Disabled Supporters' Club is delighted to announce that (thanks to one of our benefactors) we are now an official sponsor of the Inverkeithing & District Darts League for this season. As a result we will work together to promote each other’s activities, with DADSC holding collections at some of the darts events. There are nine teams competing in the 2021/22 season (147 Black, Barley Sheaf, Burgh Arms, The Civil, Hill Park, Hillend Tavern, Inverkeithing Bowling Club, Jolly Jokers and Queens Hotel). Matches take place at 8pm on Fridays – see the fixture list here: https://inverkeithingdarts.leaguerepublic.com/matches/215884330/1_925692397/-1/-1/-1.html If you want to join one of the teams or just want more information on the Darts League, please contact inverkeithingdarts@outlook.com
  24. For a number of reasons I haven't been on this forum much in recent months. But with the events of the last few days I read through the relevant threads on here, to try to get a sense of what people were thinking. In all honesty it was a breath of fresh air - the vast majority of posts were well considered and respectful of different views, and the moderation was spot on. For the first time since we came out of administration I am genuinely concerned about the short-term future of the club, especially if Ross decides he has had enough, but longer term I am convinced there are enough good people around to see us through.
