Keep saying it but this squad badly needs major work in the summer or it’ll be another season of trying to avoid relegation. This back 5 has never worked so why Mcpake keeps persisting with it is beyond me. Absolute garbage when we play it and our best performances of the season have come when we play a flat back 4, rely on Edwards far too much to get us forward and he’ll 100% be away in the summer. Too many players on another year left who’ll be happy sitting on the bench collecting a wage. ****e

Let’s make sure we are safe then start planning for next season. Clear to see when we miss some players it affects us hugely and the replacements in the squad arent championship quality. It’s hard as some guys are on 2 year deals etc but if we want to reach the next level then some are really needing moved on

Miles Hayes and Chris Kane need a contract put in front of them for next year. Big improvement on Comrie and Wighton.
Agreed. Ultimately we will need to move on a few who have a year left like chalmers, o’halloran etc. if we want to move to the next level these guys ain’t going to take us there

Hmm, tonight’s game was a feisty wee encounter. There certainly won’t be any easy games between now and the end of the season. Have to say that Ayr looked good on the ball and (love him or loathe him - and I’m a bit on the fence) Scott Brown had them fired up. This is a very, very tight league.
Didn’t think they were up to much at east end. Done us a favour though so We can get into 4th with a win. COYP

Just like non season ticket holders get hospitality cheaper than season ticket holders too
-
Airdrie having a game in hand to Arbroath is what could kill it for us trying to get top 4. But making sure we are safe is priority first

Nah, I can't agree with your opening sentence, KP. United are the best team in this league and will be promoted. That they didn't play so well last night was down to the way the Pars played. If we had sat back and admired them, they would have buried us. But we didn't. We got in about them from the start, scored an early goal. Gave our players a lot of confidence and theirs an uphill task.
Our tactics were different, too. No playing sideways at the back. Mehmet launched every kickout/goal kick over halfway. In summary, you can only play as well as your opponents allow you to.
I said we played them off the park?
-
Brilliant performance, can’t believe that’s a team at top of the league they were absolutely awful. All credit to us we played them off the park and well deserved win. Could we go on a run like we did under AJ and make top 4? Will be tough but you just never know. The difference Bene makes at the back is unbelievable too, lets our midfield be stronger with Hamilton and Otoo and tbh everyone played great last night. Glad for KRH after 3 injuries he had a performance like that

At £75 a top I think I’ll pass

Hopefully all sent out on loan next year to get some valuable game time
-
Our worst performances of the season were with the back 5, hopefully get it binned and never come back again. We look much more promising with a back 4

Not trying to be a smart@rse, KP, but if the understudy was better than Mehmet, would he not be starting and Deniz would be on the bench?
Totally agree about MWH selling the second goal - he obviously thought the ball was going out.
It’s more the fact mehmet can ship as many as he likes and not get dropped. Little is never going to get better sitting on a bench all the time
-
If we stay up, we’ll need to try move players on or we’ll just be in the same situation as this year, fact we’ve got the likes of o’halloran and chalmers signed up for another season yet they can’t get anywhere near the time. Worrying times
-
Defender ducking out the way of the shot too for the 2nd. Embarrassing we’ve left ourselves in a position that we can’t drop a keeper cause the understudy is even worse
-
Mcpake isn’t happy with mehmet for the first goal, wonder if he’ll finally get dropped?

Tactically Mcpake is very stubborn. 5 at the back at home is pathetic tactics and 1 up front is just boring to watch. Home record is also very poor and football is generally poor to watch. Maybe he’s been our best manager in a while but the others we’ve had have been absolutely awful too
