  1. Cheers 👌 I got served my first ever pint in the Penny so I've got nothing but fond memories of it. I'll see what the consensus is, reckon it'll be that or the Abbotshall which used to be decent back a few years.
  2. Wheres best for a pre match drink? Been years since I've been through to Starks.
  3. Thought it was absolutely brilliant, whoever got it organised deserves nothing but praise. As everyone was running around the pitch afterwards everyone around me was commenting about how great it had been.
  4. And those that did would be correct. His starting positioning is wrong, his decision to not come compounds the first mistake. His lack of communication completes a trifecta of **** ups where each decision could've rectified the prior. I don't mind Mehmet, he's fine. We've won promotion from this division with worst keepers, my only concern would be the rumour that he was one of our highest earners before his new contract, is he that good? Not for me. My concerns with him are value for money rather than outright ability. I'm not looking for anything to confirm my opinion, but that second goal is quite clearly on him, far more than anyone else. On the flipside I apportioned zero blame to him for the first goal, mibbe I'm not not out to get him.
  5. We watching the same goal? It's been lifted all the height in the world from the half way line, Miles is under no pressure, if his starting position wasn't so dreadful, or he was slightly more decisive it's either an easy claim, or easy to miles to knock it back.
  6. The second goal is primarily down to Mehmet, just before the shot a cross came in that was high and in the air for ages, Mehmet had a couple of options 1)Come for it, with how long it was in the air and the trajectory of the ball, and with no Airdrie players going for it he could've walked out and cought it 2)Communicated with Miles, with no Airdrie players behind him he could've let the ball run, he could've made himself available for Miles to knock it down with his chest, sadly it got cleared straight to an Airdrie player. The first goal was at the other end of the park but I don't think Mehmet can get to it, was a good ball. The second one though? The way he was glued to his line was maddening. However the most frustrating thing about last night was how the team just crumbled when we went two down. Upto that point we'd been the better side, created more chances and looked like the game was there for us. As soon as that second goal went in the players heads went collectively up there own arses and it was pretty clear to see they just wanted the game to end.
  7. Walked out EEP a happy chappy today!
  8. I had plenty of optimism prior to the Inverness game, McPake brought me crashing back to earth.
  9. https://www.thecourier.co.uk/fp/sport/football/4910659/dunfermline-athletic-fc-injury-boost-kyle-benedictus/?cx_testId=2&cx_testVariant=cx_undefined&cx_artPos=0&cx_experienceId=EX8NGCWN9OKA#cxrecs_s Bene back in the squad McCann and Kane are fine KRH and Breen not far away.
  10. Once the training facility has been built it should surely save money? We won't have to hire out other facilities. The cost will be getting incurred now in the building of it.
  11. Correct, we also would've got extra prize money from finishing higher up. That statement is a disgrace imo, it's flat out bull****.
  12. As was heavily rumoured it's a 7 figure loss, the reasons given on the Cows seems absolutely wild to me. https://dafc.co.uk/club-update-annual-accounts-2022-23-season/ Not sure how we've managed to spend that much when we had such a light squad.
  13. I haven't tbf, you recommend it? Most of my knowledge comes from looking around, and from following Brentford when I lived down south and they were in the Championship, read allot and listened to a good few interviews and podcast with the ownership group who were mad for analytics.
  14. xG should purely be a representation of how likely a player was to score with the chance that they had, it does it by looking at the history of shots from the same distance/angle/type of shot (Header, volley etc), the easiest way to represent that is a penalty which has an xG of 0.76, because 76 out of every 100 penalties are scored apparently. However what footystats do according to there website - "FootyStats uses a unique formula for calculating xG. Traditional xG only takes account of shot positions while FootyStats uses a combination of shot accuracy (on/off target), shot frequency (number of shots), attack dangerousness, overall attack pressure (posession amount and depth of posession) to summarize expected goals for Championship." All those extra metrics they're adding in doesn't make the xG metric more accurate, it does the opposite, why would possession change the liklihood of a chance going in etc? What I think is actually happening with footystats is that they have an equation which calculates shots on and off target, possession and attack pressure, all of which are stats you get on a betting website and they're putting a figure next to it. I don't think it's truly "xG" at all in that they're not taking into account how hard, or how easy the chance was. It's not the same xG stat that you'd see on Motd etc. From looking around footystats I think it's primary function is to help out with betting. From yesterday for example Jak would've had a higher xG for his chance than the penalty, however outwith that it would've been dreadfully low scores all around because headers typically have a lower xG. I know wyscout used to have fairly good xG data on the Scottish championship but it's awfully expensive if you fancy it. I'm a big fan of xG as a stat, and as you've said it would've been interesting seing the difference from the first half to the second. It's a shame such things aren't readily available.
  15. I'm a massive beleiver in it tbf. However not with footystats, I had a look at them earlier in the season and they didn't look like a very reputable data collection company, there way of calculating xG is just wrong and odd.
  16. The only two positions where I wouldn't say Raith are better is at both the full back positions, Millen and Dick aren't any betterm They've already brought in another right back, with who they've then beaten Dundee United and Ayr, then kept a clean sheet against Morton. Hear me out, they don't miss Ross Millen.
  17. Helps when you create chances. Aye, because plenty people have it in there head that "Inverness is a difficult place to go", for whatever reason that may be.
  18. Is he better than Comrie? Or even Miles? Not for me. Eh? One season playing for a good Raith team (who have done absolutely fine sinse he left) and now he's a winner? Whereas last season when Raith finished seventh what was he then? He's a league one standard player, Raith aren't where they are because of Ross Millen, they are where they are because of there attacking prowess.
  19. Is it though? An Inverness side who haven't won at home since November, with a crippling injury list? It's not awful but I'd also stop quite a way short of calling it decent.
  20. Correct, and we've been dreadful at home.
  21. Aye, I didn't think Inverness were worse in the second half, they created nothing in the first half outwith Paul Allan giving away a penalty, and they created nothing in the second. Just had a listen to McPakes interview and he thinks we were better, brilliant. Can't wait to see more of the 5 at the back.
  22. Airdrie go 2 up against United. Full time 0-0, awful game of football. Why oh why we went back to 5 at the back is something only McPake will know, we hadn't looked fantastic in the first half but we looked worse in the second. Back down to 8th we go, we are just an absolute chore to watch.
  23. We have went to this 5 at the back formation and again look utterly insipid from open play. Todd off for Moffat now. He's been on since half time.
