Whoever has advised him as has done him a massive disservice.  How much talent has gone to the Old Firm and been wasted?  And yet we'll see it again and again...

Perhaps. But if you are a professional footballer with ambition it's probably the case that you have quite a high level of self-belief in most cases so he'll believe he can break into the first team at Celtic which could lead anywhere. Obviously the people around him will be telling him he is good enough too as there is money to be made from the move. Some will move to the Old Firm just for the money but I'm guessing a lot of them go there fully believing they're going to be able to become a club legend!

I agree with that too.  But a decent season with Hibs might see him as a Premier player anyway, and still playing regular first team football.

It's a tough one though because there is also a real chance that Hibs don't go up. Or that he has a bad season and then doesn't get the chance at such a move again. A bird in the hand, and all that. Look at all the players that go to Man City. Okay, a lot of it is about the money but it's also the idea that a "big club" with some of the best players in the world lead you to believe that you're good enough to rub shoulders with them. Hard not to be flattered in that situation!
