One brilliant book, which I've mentioned on another thread, is "Bloody Foreigners " by Robert Winder. It charts the history of immigration to Britain down the ages and it's full of amazing and amusing stories, as well as some sad and harrowing ones. At different times since I read it some 10 years ago, I've gifted a copy to many of my closest friends and everyone of them has been instigating in its praise of the book and its author. Eta.
