  1. Agreed, but you know that something like that would immediately be seized on by the moaners in our support.
  2. 7 wins, 3 draws, 5 losses in his fifteen games in charge of Wednesday (across 3 different brief caretaker roles). Not bad at all. Good luck to him, and hopefully he'll be getting Ayr promoted back to the championship in May 23... 🙂
  3. FT 1-1. Could have been worse I guess. A chance now to open a wee gap (whenever we get this ICT game played)
  4. FFS. I considered getting on Morton at 25/1 as well...
  5. Important to get the full facts here I think. While fans aren't allowed in, nobody should be bringing their mates. But we don't yet know that that's what happened, and I don't think we should jump to any conclusions. It needs looked into though, both as a point of principle in terms of fan goodwill, and also as a point of law regarding whether any rules were broken. My guess is that the latter won't apply, because anyone there would have fallen within the 500 limit. But it would a bit much if anyone has brought their pals while the fans are locked out. On the upside, at least they didn't see a brilliant match.
  6. We absolutely were. It's shameful that he felt he had to leave.
  7. Fair enough. I guess we'll just need to see, unfortunately. Never thought you were having a go, no worries 🙂 I take the point about overestimates, but I guess it's hard to say whether they would have planned out without action. Reminds me of the Millennium bug story. Nowadays a lot of people laugh and say what a nonsense that was, while other will argue that it's only because they took it seriously that things turned out generally ok. Hard to say for sure. I guess I do tend to err on the side of caution over optimism though. Maybe I should change my username! 🙂
  8. Here's a source from a couple of weeks ago for R3.5 (actually he says between 2.75 and 4.4) although it wasn't here that I first heard it, not sure where it was tbh: https://www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/omicron-england-university-of-east-anglia-wales-scotland-b1971598.html Early research based on UKHSA figures, not sure if there's been any update. As with the belief that hospitalisations are lower with Omicron, it's based on early and limited data. I see a few more recent stories talking about estimates of R3-5, but not sure what they are based on. I'm not taking any particular side on all this, but I do think it's too early to just assume that hospitalisation numbers (as opposed to rates) won't become much higher.
  9. It's not just about the risk of hospitalisation though, is it, it's about transmissibility rates. Even if Omicron is less likely than Delta to hospitalise those who do get infected , it may still infect more than enough people to outweigh that lower hospitalisation rate and still result in more actual people in hospital overall. IIRC Omicron currently has an R number of about 3.5 and Delta is at 1 - so as long as that's the case a lot more people will get Omicron than got Delta. A smaller proportion of a much larger number may still give a larger final figure than a larger proportion of a much smaller number. Plus, this is still early data and not conclusive. And if we've learned anything from the last 2 years it's that being overly optimistic in the early stages has regularly led to a much worse situation in the end. If the governments had done a proper lockdown way, way back at the start (and last xmas) we could well have been in a much better state than we eventually found ourselves.
  10. Then ask for a refund, I'm sure you'll get one. They offered the same last time, I think?
  11. My guess is that they see no point having a total break now, when in all likelihood it won't be over after just a few weeks. Maybe their view is to just get any money in that they can now, before crowds are potentially banned completely again. Not saying I agree with that, but it's a reasonable position to take, I suppose.
  12. My guess is they'll revert to something like last time: Give all ST holders free Pars TV access Offer refunds if people want them, but encourage the above option. I hope they also try something like what I suggested in spring 2019 (sadly the original thread seems to have been deleted or I'd link to it): Make most of the 500 available to ST holders (on some basis to be worked out) but keep, say 50-100 aside for other fans who don't have a ST. Make those other match tickets available as the prize in some sort of online lottery draw. Make entry to the draw available to anyone (inc ST holders if they want to pay more than they already have), and at a relatively low price (say £5-10? Significantly less than a regular match ticket anyway) Have no limit on how many entries someone can buy if they really want to up their chances a bit. Hopefully sell a high number of draw entries due to the low price, and recoup a good amount of the money that would otherwise have been earned with a bigger walk-up crowd. Downsides to that: Admin and legal burdens (running a lottery will have some sort of licensing requirement I would imagine) It does give more chance to fans who are better off financially and may be willing to risk buying more entry tickets in order to have a better chance. Probably other things I've not considered. Still though, giving people a chance to win one of the very scarce tickets might be better than given them no chance at all.
  13. He might get longer to recover if they do pause the season for a few weeks!
  14. Maybe they just didn't get advance knowledge of the FM's announcement?
  15. Said statement: https://www.dafc.co.uk/story.php?t=Club_Statement:_Covid_Guidance&ID=13508 TL:DR - they don't yet know what's happening, are trying to find out, and ask that we don't all call the ticket office to ask.
  16. Not again. That was a different club 🙂
  17. This is what I get for laughing at Falkirk's match being abandoned. At least it's only 1-1.
  18. Worse than that, they'll use the state of the NHS (which they have run down) to justify more privatisation, benefiting their mates and themselves. Angela Rayner was spot on - Tory scum.
  19. I don't think anyone here necessarily is advocating not doing so. I'm just saying that the governments failed to do it.
  20. Indeed. We (or rather, politicians) should have followed the experts before, but didn't. We/they should follow them now.
