  1. They knew Jakub was likely to be called up for Poland. Hughes had been talking to OFW for weeks about him leaving (according to Hughes) so hardly a shock. He could have addressed this at the end of the window. He would also be aware that Mehmet was injured. That’s before you even get into how bad Mehmet was/is.
  2. Goalie situation is utterly shambolic and reflects really poorly on Hughes.
  3. I’d agree with Dick on one up front. I’d always favour a 4-4-2 similar to Dick and Bert although conscious they ended up playing 5-3-2 a good bit. I don’t think McCann is the problem and he does his job well. Especially given his age and inexperience. I’d like to see him with bodies around him such as O’Hara playing off him or even him and Todorov.
  4. On the whole I’ve been pretty happy with what Yogi has done since he has come in. Results have improved and we are a lot harder to beat (Morton game aside). His recruitment has been decent with Lawless, Chalmers and Donaldson all looking solid business. Jury remains out on the keeper, Ambrose and Kanwa. I do think Yogi needs to look at his tactics for the rest of the season though as the 4-5-1 isn’t attacking enough given the need for wins. Big question is do we have the right midfielders for a 4-4-2 yet? If we play 4-4-2 and get Dom and O’Hara into the starting 11 there isn’t really a place for Dorrans? Midfield 2 would have to be Pybus and Chalmers? There are games where the 4-5-1 will be useful but in home games in particular I think we have to be more attack minded.
  5. Ambrose for Martin backfired big time. Lack of subs at the end was a joke. We ended up with O’Hara up top on his own and trying to hit him with big punts. Should have had Dom and Todorov straight on at 2-1 (or before). Realky poor last half hour and the manager has to take the blame.
  6. I think we might see a few changes to the team to freshen things up a little. Ambrose and Thomas would be my guess. if we play the same formation it will be McCann up top as no other striker can play that role. Love him to bag a couple as it’s all that’s really missing.
  7. McCann is the only striker at the Club that can play in this formation. Personally I’d like to see O’Hara given a run beside him. I think it’s a bit unfair to judge McCann as a striker when he is isolated so much in a game. He puts in some shift and gets us up the park.
  8. No fan of either half of the OF but Ange comes across brilliantly in interviews etc. his team also seems to try and play good football with the onus on attack. His use of the Japanese market has been fantastic. A lot of the Scottish media and also a large chunk of the C*ltic support have also had to hastily revise their opinion of him given the way he was treated on arrival.
  9. I’d be disappointed if he came straight into the team. OFW has been pretty reliable all season and certainly since Yogi came in.
  10. Most convincing win in a very long time. Utterly dominant. Some of the stick McCann is clueless, he is crucial to the formation and it simply can’t work without him. Yes he could be a bit more clinical but hopefully the goals will come. MoM for me between Comrie, Pybus and McCann. Big shout out for Lewis Martin. Fantastic to see him back and he absolutely strolled it today.
  11. A very good point in the end. First half was dire. Second half was better even before the changes but the 3 subs all made a difference. Standouts for me were Donaldson, Comrie and Pybus. Cole was impressive as well. Can’t knock the spirit and fight in the team today. I’d like to see the second penalty appeal again where O’Hara hit the keepers legs after a handball shout. I thought McCann had a poor game today but what a shift he put in. He doesn’t half get stuck in and has some engine in him.
  12. I enjoyed the game yesterday. Players were clearly right up for it and it was a performance full of grit, fight, spirit and determination. Lawless had a great game yesterday and along with the return of Thomas will hopefully provide the creativity for the rest of the season. I thought both fullbacks had their best games of the season. They were sound defensively but also got forward. Fantastic cross from Josh for the goal and the link up between Comrie and Lawless bodes well. Dow, Todd and Allan had their best games of the season. Todd in particular caught the eye and that was easily his best game for us. Connolly will be a huge miss but Donaldson looked far better yesterday. Great to see the players reaction at FT. Even with just 556 fans in it was a good atmosphere at the end. I actually think the ultra negative away team tactic of switching round at kick off so we shoot into the Norrie first half backfired as the fans were willing the ball to stay out and reacting to every block, tackle etc. All in all a good day.
  13. Fair points but using us v ICT as an example would there be any police or ambulance present? Other than directing the traffic post game I don’t think so? Same for most games outwith the SPL surely so why oh why is it capped at 500? I’ve been pretty supportive of most restrictions but this capping at 500 is an absolute joke.
  14. Squad currently worse than it was at the start of the window!
  15. Similar to me. I had previously emailed Drew and got a detailed response. I didn’t agree with everything he said but that’s life and I appreciated the reply.
  16. Someone in the mold of Geggan/Falkingham please.
  17. I may be in the minority but I don’t think he is that great. Certainly has the right attitude and looks like he actually cares though. I would prefer to keep him especially given the lack of options in Jan generally.
  18. I did wonder if it was 3 players plus however many left the Club. So if Cole goes that’s 4 more players we have a budget for in theory? Chuck in the size of KK’s wages and the fact that Martin is probably on a low basic wage then we could be looking at more players coming in. Also likely that we may attempt to move on a few more? Could be looking at between 8 and 10 new players this window which isn’t ideal but is definitely needed. Impressed that we got Lawless and Donaldson done so quickly. Fingers crossed for a world class centre midfielder by the weekend 😃
  19. I’d expect Yogi to have full control of recruitment regardless of what Meggle thinks?
  20. Yip at least 2 centre mids needed.
  21. Cole, Jones, Pybus, Graham, Mehmet, Todd, Todorov can all go for me.
  22. I think Dorrans playing deep works when you are ahead in the game as he can control the ball and the game. When you are level or behind it’s not so good as the opposition just sit off you. when was the last time we had central midfielders that could play in a 4-4-2. I rated Paul Paton a lot and he is the type we desperately need in Jan.
  23. I’m not a fan of 1 up front but it was crystal clear today why we play that way. As soon as we made the double change and brought on O’Hara we were wide open. Our midfield is a shambles.
  24. I think McCann has done pretty well. O’Hara is our best goal scorer and I’d like to see him play. Not sure how Wighton fits in just now. Todorov is like playing with 10 men.
