If United were thinking about recalling him and sending him elsewhere then would they have let him play in the Scottish Cup?
Also if they are serious about him developing they would leave him at East End as I struggle to see a more ideal place for him.
Biggest thing for me is the players look like they care and that they actually want to be here. They are giving everything.
That may be the least we are entitled to expect but it’s clearly not what we’ve seen in recent years.
True it’s testimony to how a good McPake manager McPake has been so far that he has been able to change formations etc with so few options. My point is if we have 2 injuries he has barely any options off the bench. Look at Montrose away - they made 5 subs while we could only make 2. Montrose subs impacted the game big time.
I’m torn. I thought Falkirk looked excellent in the first 45 minutes at East End but was it because we were all over the shop rather than them being brilliant?
I’d normally prefer 4 at the back but I’d worry about Bene through there.
That said McPake had him stripped to come on at Alloa only for the ref to blow for FT. McPake doesn’t strike me as giving the young players anytime in the pitch if they are not ready or deserving.
Agreed. He is also a liability when we don’t have the ball as he bottles every 50/50. That said he is pretty much our only creative player and entertaining to watch. Needs to work on his finishing though.
Pretty even game till the various subs were made. We have nothing on the bench to change the game.
if Mochrie had taken one of his chances and got us ahead it would have been a different game.
Scrappy 1st half but we were dominant in the 2nd. Only criticism was the chances we missed.
That was the best Craig Wighton I’ve seen in a long time.
Chalmers, Edwards and Wighton the stand outs for me.
I think McPakes biggest achievement has been how he has turned around a few players who were dire last year. Mehmet and Breen the most obvious followed by Comrie, Chalmers, Todorov.
