Massive game on Sat. Massive. Win and there is a slight glimmer of hope we may get our season on track. Lose and the pressure piles on Peter Grant and we will be firmly anchored to the bottom of the League. While we created some chances against Arbroath we are worse than useless defensively with 8 goals conceded in just 3 games. Make no mistake Ayr Utd are rank as well and only sit one place above us on goal difference. After losing 2-0 to Raith midweek they ended the game with only 9 men (And we need all the advantage we can get!). Ayr fans share the same dilemma with Pars fans that they equally want Hopkin to go as well. In some instances perhaps both groups of fans want their respective teams to lose - if it removes the incumbent manager. The Pars last run out was a fortnight ago with a humiliating 3-0 defeat at home against Arbroath and with last weeks Elgin game conceded due to covid we all wonder what shape the squad is in. I just hope we are no where near as bad as the past two games where it couldn't get any worse, so sheer bloody optimism makes me hope for a narrow 2-1 win. COYP

Would a Pars support accept Hughes? It would be a massive call. Personally I would have no difficulty with him but it would be toxic for others. I suppose that's the problem there is no natural consensus on who could be the Manager and at the moment we don't have a vacancy lol.

Cant help but agree with this and I think you have already mentioned the managerial merry go round of usual suspects. I'm also not an advocate of anyone because they have had a previous association with the club. Lots of threads / messages out there but not seeing anything that suggests a replacement for Grant. Mind you I don't have an immediate suggestion either. I have seen a couple of mentions for The Bunnet and McInness but that's it.

Thankfully we have some respite from the dismal league campaign on Sat as the Pars faithful march 150miles to face Elgin in the SPFL Trust Trophy cup game. It's a long way to go and given recent form it might feel a longer trip back to Fife. The Pars hosts are Elgin City who also play in black and white stripes who play in Scottish League Two. In the League they are 5 games in to their season and sit 6th with a single win, two losses and two draws. They have a GD of -1, scoring 6 but conceding 7 goals. Elgin haven't traveled well this season, but are seen to be stronger at home so this will be a tough test for a Pars team low in confidence and looking for a win to kick off their season. Still Grant already has his excuses in early with Covid and injuries impacting the team selection. I can imagine some Pars fans will be happy with a "Coup de gras" loss only if the final bullet gives the opportunity for the new board to freshly look at what is an absolute brutal start to the season. Ultimately the chance to progress will be good, but will it just delay the inevitable.........

Not sure of what to expect with this. Would players actually want to sign for a club in chaos either on a contract or a loan. I suppose it may be interesting to see what happens in Leith with Nisbet and how that rolls out, but they way we are atm I cant get excited about it.

Stepping aside or pushed?

Duncan Simpson was the editor I think he was also heavily involved in the Pars historical society as well. He had been doing it for years and it was an award winning programme too. It's just more evidence suggesting things isn't right.

I didn't see the game yesterday. So I suppose its unfair to comment too much, but by all accounts the players have to take responsibility as well. I think there were a few who could honestly say they gave 100%. The unfortunate thing is that this wasn't a one off game. Players can have a crap game in isolation but to be consistently playing below expectations isn't good enough either and its not acceptable for Pars fans. Its an old adage that players can get a manager sacked and this may be the case in the EEP dressing room. Strange that a game against Elgin City takes on an absolute must win status, failure to progress next Sat and changes may be inevitable.

I'll admit i was surprised at the crowd yesterday, its not a good sign to see a crowd less than 3K. As for the Manager I cant say anything that would mitigate him staying even after a few games. However even before he was appointed there was little if any consensus on who should be the next manager. In truth I don't see any stand out options atm either

I wouldn't be sure it would depend on the TV schedules I imagine and the replay date. I'm not sure even if those who had bought tickets would be allowed free entry?

Has to say when I looked at the starting 11, I was fearing the worst. Difficult to judge on the 13 or so minutes but we started brightly and looked the better side - It may not have been the same over the 90 but it did give me some future confidence that we looked and played much better.

You want to give a manager time to settle in and that is how I feel about Grant atm. However the performance on Friday is almost more important than the result. If we play well and get lose i'll accept the improvement gain. If we have a performance like our last two games then Grant may just be facing a whole load of pressure that he may never recover from. However its not just Grant the players have a lot to answer too and some of the basic schoolboy errors that we have seen recently is unacceptable. I don't like players to be lambasted from the terrace by our own fans but if they dont step up and take responsibility on the pitch either, the fans will confidence in both.
