  1. Well debate is about being able to bring a different opinion. The floor is yours..........
  2. So the one thing we all agreed on was that with a good pre season he could be an asset, won't be happening!
  3. I think it is all down to expectations from a 35 year old player. Playing him to his strengths in positions where speed is not essential is the main one. Having the right players close to him that he can build up an understanding with, his reading of the game, encouraging the younger ones to do the running into space or back as required. With a chance to work with consistency and the same players in a settled squad he will do well I'm sure. I think in older, better players if you are surrounded by dross you end up trying to do more than you are capable of in fear of passing to someone who is going to waste the ball or lose it. Then you end up getting caught making you look the bad one. To be fair that is worklife per se.
  4. I'd rely on John Hughes getting us promoted back to the Championship than on a train at this current moment in time. 😉😂
  5. The biggest concern is the charges against the company from Aldermore Bank. These have been renewed each year. For the last 7 years. However never called in. https://find-and-update.company-information.service.gov.uk/company/SC059217/charges/hJjZ4Ben_hg1lmmJGPZopCDOv8Q Read the PDF files attached to the charges.
  6. Even back to my time coaching Dunfermline were terrible at picking up young talent, working with the under 10's right through to the under 16s either at Pitreavie or all the other weekend grounds around Fife you would regularly meet the scouts from both Dundee teams, Hearts, Raith, Falkirk, Rangers, less often St Johnston, Cowdenbeath and Hibs, occasionally Motherwell. The most regular was Jim Ballantine from Celtic he would be around the grounds every weekend, and spent a lot of time chatting with all the coaches and was a great guy through and through. I struggle to remember a time when we were ever aware of a Dunfermline scout at the games. I've made this point previously, and this is going back 10 years now. I would really like to think this would have changed by now. Many of the bigger clubs would arrange coaches for their newly sourced youngsters to their training during the week and initially we were allowed to continue playing and working with them until either they were signed up or released after a few months. Basically the point then was, the young talent was getting spotted at an early age and was already with other clubs before the Fife Pro Youth were even interested. It's not rocket science to see why the Fife Pro Youth scheme has been so poor in providing local clubs with players over the years and why this is now happening to these players. I really thought this would have changed a long time ago. Also remember that the club disconnected with the Norries young teams which was actively supported by the club around the same time, which was another blow for the clubs back then.
  7. we are lacking a 18yd box predator, chances going a begging game after game! Every club grinding out results has one Scotland doesn't! no excuse for today it was almost like when they went behind they couldn't be ersed, predictable and insipid! I don't blame Steve Clarke it's the players, long seasons, little family time, risk of injury, pre season looming. Stupid time to be playing games from a players point of view!
  8. I'm interested here as to what you will draw your comparisons on this season, if we get to the promotion play offs and lose to me we will still be at the level as we started the season. Promotion as champions or via the play offs will be to me the only real barometer.
  9. With an emphasis on not taking this off topic, I'm sure the realities of basically children being taken into the football environment at such young ages nowadays with their only real remit every day (in some cases) is having to get up in the morning, we can't really be surprised of the softly softly culture being the only culture they recognise. I often wonder like I did with the Arbroath analogy that when you see some of our better players over the world whether those who have had a harder start/upbringing actually appreciate more the job they have now and the management system they work under? So yes Dick getting the best out the older players and Ian maybe getting the best out of the younger (new breed) works so well. Whereas the Yogi, Grant and others who imply the my way or the highway approach can quickly (especially with strong dressing room players) lose the dressing room. Perhaps Stephen Kenny was another in the that role having come from I'd imagine a very hard upbringing working with similar type players and who were very used to that type of discipline! I see it very much so in my own work force especially after lockdown and them making comparisons to their pals now who are still working from home or having flexible work pattern, they now think they are being hard done by.
  10. Hughes has always been a divisive manager, as most old school managers are. It makes you wonder why Dick and Ian have been successful at Arbroath, my only conclusion has been that they are dealing with part time players who also work in the real world of employment. Which I think will have been a huge benefit to Chris when he arrives. I wonder if the Don Thomas and Col Donaldson outcomes would have been different if JM's announcement had been made earlier as it was clear especially in Dom's case that he was one of the players who had fallen out with Yogi.
  11. Didn't want to be accused of being a club leak! But as Superalley will confirm, I had a good chat with his dad last week. It wasn't quite completed then as he was in Greece. But it's a cracking signing for the club!
  12. Peterhead have said they can't announce the name until his current contract expires next week.
  13. Jubilee Weekend so no other reference required! 🙄
  14. I'm brilliant, I've just jumped an 18 month queue and managed to buy a brand new HiLux getting delivered next week while sitting looking at you making yourself look like some obsessive nutcase. Enjoy your weekend! God Save The Queen 🇎🇧
  15. His Dad is Craig his Mum Fiona, his Granny lives in Gowkhall he has 3 brothers, and was at his Christening 19 years ago do you want me to send you photo's to complete your obsession? ðŸĪŠ PS his uncle is Stuart who owns Hamilton Oven Cleaning in Duloch. Need anymore KS?
  16. The hysterics on here as I don't stalk him on twitter, I see his dad (only been a pal for 35 years) when out with the dogs in Crossgates, last time I spoke with him he was in negotiating a new contract with Hearts. You lot lol.
  17. 😆 Chris Hamilton is a Hearts player, currently negotiating a new contract with them. Was signed by them when he was 8. Known the lad since he was born.
  18. If you knew how quick info on this site, the other and P&B was filtered back you would be astounded it works in seconds! Not only that the squealers in most cases know the identity of the poster! Hence the reason naming and shaming will never happen! Maybe I'll get another message shortly after KS squeals 🙄
  19. 7 minutes 😂😂😂
  20. I don't bet, never have done, (caveat that) (Except the occasional flutter on the GN) as the original statement I made quite clearly states "I'd heard" meaning I'd been told by A N Other. I'm not even sure if it was McBookie but I know they were one of the only ones displaying odds for Pars Manager. I'm not sure if it is possible to request odds from other bookies? Maybe the betting people on here could clarify. As for Keyser, it really makes me smile that I can really wind you up, you are totally hysterical!
  21. Disagree Courtois without doubt won RM the match tonight!
  22. mcbookie are going to get interested in this, as I've heard a number of 4 and 5 figure sums were put on McPake at 9/1 before they closed the market. 3 days before the announcement!
  23. It's going to be a rollercoaster of a next few months of players coming and going which will continue to divide opinions with fans that is a given. Also to be expected, we are allowed to have our own opinions. However when it comes to the club itself they have a duty to their staff and their supporters. The current set up is doing us no favours with leaks, (especially the one about the manager allowing bets to be made with bookies, in my eyes illegal). Discussing players contracts, conversations, wages and managers/directors opinions with all and sundry in various locations is unprofessional to say the least. The unsavoury incidents involving ex managers and boardroom staff is also out in the public domain. Releasing players by text, now adds to the list of bad press going against the club. The trouble with all this is when you have seasoned professionals that have worked with bigger and more organised clubs they look at this and you can actually hear them thinking if not saying WTAF is going on here. There lies the problem, when it comes to recruiting players, almost every new recruit we are looking at will know somebody who has played for us or is playing for us. Those opinions will be sought, if you don't think a player who has an identical contract on the table from 3 clubs isn't going to be influenced by the advice they get from a peer you will be mistaken. Many years ago we were renowned as a great club, with great supporters and it influenced many players decisions to come and play for us.Some actually saying they were offered more money but chose us. Do you still think that is the case? More importantly do the board still think players should be delighted to be getting offered a contract with DAFC? It's not always about money being offered, and when you haven't got a lot you have to have a little bit more to entice players.
