Turps
I have never seen this before. Gavin Gunning picks up the ball walks off, then back on to get treatment.Watch bizarre incident as Gavin Gunning picks up ball to stop play
Keyser Soze
That's a heads gone moment that even trumps Digs in the ticket check thread!
SanguinePar
It's the walking back on that stumps me - I mean, ok, it's weird to pick the ball up, but if he felt he needed treatment then that's one way of getting it. But to then come onto the pitch to get the treatment...? WTF?
Digs
How was he not booked for deliberate handball, and then ushered off the pitch for treatment? He could clearly walk, as he walked off then back on again. Strange behaviour but poor refereeing too.
Keyser Soze
Deliberate hand ball in itself isn't a yellow card offence.
Turps
The 2nd video in the link shows him getting dogs abuse from the united fans as he walks off. Can't wait to play them next season.
Vinnie
Strange. Almost as if it was his ball and he wanted to go home? Even the linesman took an age to eventually flag for an offence.
Digs
Deliberate hand ball in itself isn't a yellow card offence. No, but it was quite clearly unsporting behavior to do what he did, especially since he came back onto the pitch to receive treatment, when he was already off, thus preventing play from continuing, and the rules allow for a yellow card where unsporting behaviour as the result of a handball has taken place. Keyser Soze
So booked for unsporting behaviour and not deliberate handball then? You should've said that originally.
worldwiderab
I would have given him a yellow for unsporting behaviour and another for being ugly.
Digs
So booked for unsporting behaviour and not deliberate handball then? You should've said that originally. No, it's quite clear what I said, so I'll repeat it for the hard of thinking. As you rightly point out, deliberate handball does not necessarily equate to a yellow card, however events considered to be unsporting behaviour eminating from a deliberate handball can be punished by a card. Is that clear enough or do you need pictures too?
Keyser Soze
If the ref had indeed chosen to book him it would've been for 'unsporting behaviour' and not 'deliberate handball'. The fact that you felt the need to furiously backtrack says it all. And even worse, resort to a condescending tone. The sort of behaviour I'd expect from a moderator on .net tbh. I'm not angry, just disappointed.
Digs
If you don't like condescending tones then I'd suggest maybe not deliberately trying to wind folk up, and being pedantic and/or deliberately obtuse for your own amusement across several threads. That sort of behaviour usually elicits that kind of response.
Keyser Soze
That's an outrageous accusation.
Salvo Montalbano
From what has been said on Pie & Bovril and other places, he went off due to injury but United didn't have a sub ready so Mixu told him to go back on and go down to give them time to get a replacement stripped. Which is pretty clever gamesmanship from big Micu really.
