The Roy Barry Fan Club
Just to mention that Dunfermline Athletic Heritage Trust are publishing, day by day, biographies of six players and one Committee member killed in the First World War. It is on their FB page https://www.facebook.com/DunfermlineAthleticHeritageTrust/ Many more of our players were wounded, never to play again. Andy Wilson played from 1919-1921 with a shattered left arm, and scored nearly a 100 goals in two seasons. These brief biographies touch on both their football careers and also something of whom they were, including the streets in Dunfermline where they lived. A full account including their photographs will be published in the Falkirk game Match Programme. We hope that this will help supporters to see them as real people and not just a line on a war memorial. Next Sunday (11th November) will be 100 years to the day from the Armistice which brought the appalling slaughter to an end.
