I have posted previously to asking people to drop the immature and misogynistic wee Nippy patter.

This is the last unofficial warning on it.

None of it is acceptable.  However, the term "wee Nippy" has been used a lot more than the others particularly by yourself.

Going forward, no matter your opinion on them using derogatory names or terms for any political figures will result in an official warning.

Let’s get one point clear here Deutche Par, you use the word misogynistic which more or less means I have a hatred towards said person/woman in general. If Nicola was a Nicholas then it would still be the same name so don’t start that nonesense.

So please clarify if any poster on here uses any names against political figures they will receive a warning? Like the term Bojo etc?
I hope you keep your promise on this rule.

I very much doubt that the term would be used if the First Minister was male.

Yes, that's exactly what I am saying.

Ah I see Deutsche Par you are giving your own opinion regarding if the first minister was male and basically calling me a women hater?
As stated if certain minister was a male/female I would still use the “nippy” phrase.
Let’s get one point clear my phrase “wee nippy” does not even state I hate women in the slightest.

I will respect the rules of the site but you really might have to take a look at them and stop making your own rules up if you get so angry when someone has a nickname for Nicola Sturgeon🤷🏻‍♂️🤷🏻‍♂️

Imo you have gone way over the top regarding this and need to back off/chill out.

If I’m wrong then ban me… I really thought this site was excellent at the start but with your admin/claiming I hate women I’m starting to doubt it tbh.

Apologies to everyone for taking this thread way off topic.

Back on topic, the UK is screwed no matter who the PM is.  I am so relieved that because of the withdrawal agreement I am effectively treated as a EU citizen in Germany.

Scotland needs independence as soon as possible to get away from the UK cluster****.

It's what you make it. Open debate encouraged. Sometimes mods step in.

That seems a bit excessive.

Wee Nippy is clearly misogynistic, but it says a lot more about the people that use it than it does about Sturgeon - in my opinion.

It is not hate speech per se,  but often it is the mark of an immature cretin when used (just look on Twitter) although that is only my opinion.

Others feel differently.

And there you have it! An openly SNP/Independence supporting admin rallying around their great leader to make absurd allegations against poster to deflect and protect Nicholiar Sturgeon.

To be fair, I haven’t seen him object to criticism of Sturgeon on this site - of which there was no shortage during the Omicron measures. It is the use of “wee nippy” he has taken issue with.

Exactly.

I am also not a SNP supporter.  You don't have to support the SNP to want independence.  In fact, I was formerly a member of the Scottish Socialist Party.

To be honest I am not sure what Nicola Sturgeon is playing at, especially last year when telling people in the election to make both votes SNP which is a sure fire way to let the unionist parties in the back door.  The smart thing to do would have been first vote SNP and second vote to another independence supporting party.

I'm not getting drawn into a political spat, but censoring "W** N*****" or other jokey pet names of politicians by labelling as a current buzz word is dangerous censorship, considering some of the outright vitriol and names used for others is going down a dangerous road. Many males and females can be described as nippy, and by using wee to describe as small in Scotland is perfectly normal. However anyone can twist to suit their agenda. What about lanky streak of P*** to describe a person? Label that?

What do you suggest going forward? We use the full title of said politician we wish to discuss before we call him/her/other out for being a bunch of lying, misleading charlatans?

It's a bit draconian for a light hearted football forum surely?

Just use their real name.  Hardly rocket science.

Far be it from me to speak for anyone else but the reasoning is clear.

‘Nippy’ is indeed a general term for an annoying person. However ‘Nippy Sweetie’ is a term used solely in reference to annoying women in order to belittle or denigrate their opinions, therefore making it mysoginistic. That’s the distinction.

Ive got a lot of criticism for her and the way she and the SNP has approached loads of things, such as Covid restrictions, populist policies in general and legislating agaisnt football fans and like Deutsche Par, I still support independence as they are not one in the same.

Wee Nippy is absolutely honking patter and just smacks of a lack of understanding or ability to articulate a coherent point.

This site, generally speaking was set up to be inclusive and civil and lately has been far from that in greater frequency. What looks like an uptick in moderation is in fact a reaction to an uptake in the behaviour we want to avoid and won’t tolerate.

As I’ve said before, we want this to be enjoyable for everyone but we’re not going to let things slide that go against what we set out to do. This site exists because 4 of us stick our hands in our pockets once a month then spend our own time moderating. Something we are having to do more and more of lately and we will do that as we see fit. If that’s not acceptable, you’re free to not post 🤷‍♂️

Folk seem to think having a username gives a right to decide how we run it, it doesn’t. We don’t want to be spending our time moderating, we’d like to just contribute and nothing more, like we have for the last 5/6 years. If folk are going to post stuff we don’t like then of course we’re going to moderate but everyone could just post sensible opinions too without using antagonistic language. I’ll also add I’ve been guilty of it recently and have held my hands up, so it’s absolutely not just a case of ‘do as we say’ we just dont want the discourse to encourage more of the same, which we managed for years. That’s it, that’s all.
