  1. Great news interesting quote…. James McPake has placed trust in Rhys who continued:- “Last season that was the one thing that was lacking. The manager didn’t have trust in me, he didn’t believe in my ability.“
  2. Ohhh no so sure about comparing Fais in prime 2015/16 form v Wighton now, I think it would be much closer than that. A good number of his goals came from individual brilliance. Ross County, Ayr away, Brechin at home, Cowdenbeath at home, just a few examples of where he scored where I don’t think his team mates could. I chatted with Andrew Barrowman abit after the title win with a work thing, and he said pretty much the Same, he couldn’t believe Faiss had developed the way he had, but individual talent was something else at times. Now, the way he conducted himself afterwards and the clear gameplay from his agents are another thing. We will never know how he would have got on if he had stayed with us into the championship, and i think that’s a shame - all his doing. With momentum and another season playing with that squad he may well have really kicked on. As it was, he didnt do the sensible thing, and made the wrong call, turning out to be a waste of talent. id still take Wighton if pushed to choose, but it’s a close one whe comparing season v season.
  3. Maybe McGowan needs a full preseason to be judged more effectively?
  4. Good. That’s exactly the impression I got of DT. I remember him being taken off at QOS by Crawford and his reaction just screamed out that he was poison - wasn’t just the two managers after him that had the problem. His behaviour at the end of last season also sat really uncomfortably with me.
  5. * sent from the penalty spot in front of the Norrie 😂
  6. Aw that’s awful news. now for them to wilt in the playoffs for the full house of hopes dashed.
  7. According to the Daily Record, he’s signed up for next season. 15:19 WILL LANCASTER Breen Machine Rhys Breen is the latest of Dunfermline’s title-winning squad to agree a new deal. The defender has thrashed out a two-year extension to extend his East End Park stay. Breen’s existing contract was due to expire in the summer. The former Rangers youngster has been a key figure in helping the Pars to the League One title. The 23-year-old had been attracting interest from Barnsley, Oxford United and Glentoran but has decided to take the step up to the Championship with the Fifers. Boss James McPake has moved quickly to get a number of his key players signed up. Midfielder Matty Todd, defender Josh Edwards and Craig Wighton have recently signed new deals, as have their management team of McPake and Dave Mackay. https://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/transfer-news-live-celtic-rangers-29790541
  8. Agreed. Champions rarely win leagues purely on the day the number of points say so. Mostly it’s when psychological wins (or draws) happen on the pitch. Last time round it was the away games at Ayr. Firm believer that the cup and league double header before Xmas in 2015 was the catalyst for the rest of our season (and the decline in Ayrs). Happy days.
  9. Not surprising to be honest. The daily BBC Sportsound podcast i listen to has a full 90 seconds about us in a 55 minute programme. Radio Clyde had a much longer in person chat with McPake yesterday on Super Scoreboard. BBC coverage is starting to seriously decline, and now they have brought “fan views” into the mix in their programmes from “representative” fans of clubs (vloggers, podcast hosts) it’s really taking a turn.
  10. I struggle to understand why people are calling for widespread changes to our team for next season. I think a big part of the problem last season was that there were too many changes which led to the awful results and performances. Taking the strikers for example - Todorov, Wighton and O’Hara all have decent championship scoring records, arguably McCanns stats don’t stand too well, but he is young and we have him for minimum one more year. I think it would be pretty silly to move on all 4. If any was to move on I’d expect O’Hara. I’d keep the other 3 but look to add in a 4th striker to freshen and challenge. We do have to strengthen across the squad of course, but I would expect a few additions more than departures considering how light the playing staff is.
  11. It would be amazing if it was a proper scudding. A demoralising 4-0 thumping of them, enough to overshadow their wee cup semi and completely demoralise them before their playoff games. Especially if it was 3-0 at half time, so that just for once, we did it the easy way 😂 that all said, probably a 0-0.
  12. That’s interesting. Wasn’t included in the notes that Digs put up on here following the supporters club meeting and first I’d heard that. Would be a bizarre statement to make. Nonetheless great news for the club ahead of a couple of crucial weeks for this season!
  13. Missed that in all the McPake contract chat - where did he say this?
  14. Agree with this GG, amount of folk posting online at that start of the season with statements like “we’re not winning anything with Todd as a starter in midfield” surprised me. He’s got an incredible engine on him. If this rate of development continues, who knows where he (and we!) could end up.
  15. Cracking piece of business. Well done to the lad.
  16. Aye this is going to be different to a “glamour game” v Hibs or the usual Forfar or East Fife fixtures. What do we reckon the crowd will be for this? Over 6k?
  17. Potentially, however at league 1 level their players are 1 game away from a Scottish cup final. That will absolutely be in their heads on every tackle, pass, throw in and clearance. They might still have enough in the tank to beat Clyde, but also, they might bottle it. (I hope) 😁😏
  18. Wouldn’t be so sure, Falkirk have absolutely shat the bed the last couple of weeks. Their players will never admit it, but they’re more focussed in their minds on the semi final - they know we’ve won the league. Clyde are no great shakes but they’ll still be fighting for their lives. A draw there would be enough for our dream scenario of winning it at TFS to play out. I wouldn’t bet against Clyde getting a draw considering Falkirk’s form.
  19. The way I see it, these sessions seem like part of the communication plan, where subjects can be discussed in a bit more detail with 10-20 folk rather than a forum with 200. This improves quality of discussion and engagement as long as the forums continue so Q&A can continue. Appreciate the notes @Digs a good read.
  20. New deals signed https://dafc.co.uk/story.php?t=Management_Team’s_new_contracts&ID=14298
  21. Scotland as a whole is miles behind other countries on food at football grounds. It’s not that difficult either to make a bit of an effort to improve the offering, if that was something the club were to prioritise.
  22. No Chalmers in the squad. This is where McGowan needs to step up and deliver, as does Kevin OHara now getting his chance. Fingers crossed for a win!
  23. He’s not wasting his time - nor is anyone on this thread with their views (on both sides I happen to think fairly articulately in the main!), it’s a good debate. 🙂 Still want Falkirk to suffer the same fate as that team you allude to in your example. 😂
  24. Not saying it was, however should we have a longer stay at that level and be competing, it certainly would catch on. Different generations will have different feelings about rivalries. The younger fans of today probably have a different opinion of an Airdrie (pardon me, Clydebank) than those of us who went a lot in the 80’s/90’s will have.
  25. In the mid 90’s can assure you there was a healthy bit of needle between us and StJ! Fuelled by being quite close challengers at times but also by a certain ex player…! 😂
